I'm joining the KHive. That's that. I see no other viable path forward. I want people to get in line. Pretend we're Republicans who favor unity over sanity. Except it'll be both unity AND sanity.

I'm just amazed at the logistics of keeping it quiet, but somehow being ready to change all the things on the websites and the paper filings, and also have people ready to give statements, figure out a nom, etc.
I would love to read a project management retrospective!

It is impressive, but I'm sure a lot of people have been planning for this possibility for a couple of weeks now just in case.

Luvvie Ajayi Jones just posted this:
I'm seeing a lot of "America isn't ready for..."
America ain't "ready" for a lot of things and growth spurts don't come with the consent of who it's happening to. I see this as a growth spurt for a country that is grasping to hold on to its ways, which have shown 1,000x that they do NOT work for our greater good.
If YOU are a part of America, and if you're ready for change, then be an active part of that change with action. And at this point, we're trying to stop Thanos from getting the glove.
We cannot underestimate the desperation of the wealthy, rich folks in the shadows, who are seeing this as a wrench in their plans to further entrench us in The Handmaid's Tale. This next few months might be a WILD RIDE. But we need to stay focused. We need to be clear. We need to be undistracted.
We can build the world we want but we cannot relinquish it with the idea that "America is not ready." This is gonna require ACTION. So right now, I want us to be careful. Speaking hopelessness out loud at this point, serves no one and nothing.

I said this in the other thread, but it seems no one knew. The news is reporting that senior members of his campaign were notified just before the announcement.

There's basically no other viable candidate, right? I had my own favorites from the 2016 primary, don't get me wrong, but presumably if we don't get in line behind Harris, surely we're going to rip ourselves apart. Even if she wasn't my first choice back in 2016, she IS great. I'm unconvinced it's a good thing overall that Biden is stepping down, but personally, I'm legitimately really excited to vote for her.

Yeah, I keep thinking about how we laughed at the GOP during the endless votes for Speaker and that would be the Dems at an open convention.
I'm going to say don't sleep on Roy Cooper (NC governor, finishing his term since he's not eligible to run for reelection) as the VP nominee. He's done good things for the state and has been getting a lot of interest nationally.
I’m so excited to support Kamala. Not only is she the most qualified person for the job AND she can use the money from Biden’s campaign, she’s the one who can calm the worries of those who think this is “undemocratic.” (Spoiler: It’s not.) People really don’t understand that in Primaries, you’re not voting for a nominee, you’re telling the delegate who you think they should vote for. They actually can do whatever they want.
@iampoliticsgirl on IG had a great post that I think will come in handy for people in the next couple of months:
Kamala wasn’t my first choice last time, but I’m thrilled to vote for her now! (If Dems do anything stupid and choose someone other than her, our country deserves the turmoil that awaits.)

I don’t doubt really did think he’d continue to be the nominee until recently, but the DNC really did need to hold the line in an official capacity. They couldn’t pull the rug out from under him after the debate and be like, “meh, well, we’ll see.” Fake it til you make it. Or something. Anyway, I’m sure this was their contingency plan.
Joe Manchin needs to sit down and STFU. This is what WaPost is saying about it:
An adviser to Sen. Joe Manchin III (I-W.Va.) confirmed that the senator is considering re-registering as a Democrat to compete for the Democratic nomination for president. The adviser, Jonathan Kott, declined to share more details about Manchin’s plans at this stage.
(Note, this is currently the full "article" from their live updates. I know we aren't supposed to c/p full articles, but for 2 sentences I'm not sure how else to handle it. If they come up with real article I can post a gift link later.)
Even if Manchin does that, I can’t see the party coalescing around him. Excuse my ignorance, but could he still run as a third party candidate? I don’t know the deadlines for that stuff.

WaPost (sourced from Twitter) is saying he just endorsed Harris.
I'm also seeing endorsements for her from Stacey Abrams (same as above WaPost sourced via Twitter).
They include Sens. Tammy Baldwin (Wis.), Mark R. Warner (Va.), Elizabeth Warren (Mass.), Tim Kaine (Va.), Patty Murray (Wash.), Mark Kelly (Ariz.), Tina Smith (Minn.), Jon Ossoff (Ga.), Edward J. Markey (Mass.), Chris Murphy (Conn.), Debbie Stabenow (Mich.), Martin Heinrich (N.M.), Ben Cardin (D-Md.), Alex Padilla (Calif.) and Chris Coons (Del.).

I’m wondering if he has the national name recognition?
I’m also terrified about the NCGovernor race….maybe having Cooper on the presidential ticket will bring more Ds out to Vote against Robinson because he’s a nightmare.

I'm all in with Harris (and more excited than I've been in months, if not years). I love Beshear as a VP pick. Yes I'm nervous but I was nervous when it was Biden.

So help us if Robinson becomes governor. he is absolutely horrible. I don't even want to think about it.
