Guess they decided to do media... per Axios newsletter
Vice President Harris will be in Manhattan on Tuesday for appearances on "The View," "The Howard Stern Show" and "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert." Stern was chosen in part because his audience is three-quarters male. Her "Call Her Daddy" podcast interview drops today. Her "60 Minutes" interview, taped yesterday, airs tomorrow.
Tim Walz appeared today on "Fox News Sunday" — his first Sunday show of the campaign. Tomorrow, he'll make his late-night debut in "Jimmy Kimmel Live" while in L.A. for a fundraising swing.

Evidently Harris’s interview on Call Her Daddy was excellent. I had never heard of this podcast before, but it’s the number one podcast for women aged 18-34. I will also (and I’m shocked I’m saying this) be tracking down her interview with Stern. These are very wise choices on her part.

I have heard of the podcast but never listened to it. I first heard Kamala was going to be on it from a Fox News headline that was along the lines of “Kamala is recording an episode of the raunchy, sexual podcast Call Her Daddy”. I think I will listen to that episode just because of that specific headline.

Ditto. I’ve never heard of it despite being a very avid podcast listener…but I have my favorites and don’t browse much.

ETA - changed my typo 24 to the correct 34.
I just listened to it, and it was really, really, really good. Like, this is the first time I've thought maybe there are people could be genuinely persuadable if they listen to this.

I just did too, and it was great. I loved the questions she asked and how Harris was so authentic.
I guess I can understand why she'd do Howard Stern's show, but f@ck him. I admit I haven't heard any of his broadcasts in at least 10+ years, but I can't imagine he's changed all that much.

She was also on the sports/basketball podcast "All the Smoke" recently. I think doing this kind of media instead of just the stock TV news shows is very savvy.

I just wrote a huge post that the app ate and this was part of it. I’ve only seen video clips but it was so good and she was so relaxed compared to a lot of interviews where she has to be on the offensive. I have so many Podcasts to listen to!

I don’t listen and I’m still not a fan at all, but shockingly I think he has changed. I think he got therapy and made amends with a lot of people and now does actual genuine interviews. I don’t know if he still does any of the shock jock stuff or not in parts of his show, because I haven’t listened. What I know is what I’ve heard on other podcasts, where people have talked about being interviewed by him and one where he was interviewed. Maybe someone who knows more can confirm.

I love the strategic approach they are taking to target specific demographics on specific issues. It does feel like they are reaching undecided voters they could sway and non-voters they could convince to register and voter, similar to the way you could with a personal conversation while door knocking. Mainstream media is complaining she’s not talking to the media enough, not acknowledging how much different types of press she’s doing. They are just mad she’s not talking to them, but the people she’s trying to reach do not watch CNN.
The Call Her Daddy Podcast is only 2nd to Joe Rogan’s on their platform (why is he #1? 🤮). Alex is getting some flack from some of her listeners for going political but she stated at the beginning that her podcast’s primary purpose is to discuss women’s issues and this election is so important to women’s issues she could not ignore it. The focus of the interview was women’s issues and she also invited 🍊 for an interview to discuss the same (he did not accept). Conservative media is criticizing the VP presidential candidates for going on a raunchy women’s podcast but I doubt they’d even criticize the same for her or 🍊 going on Stern, Rogan, Von, etc. That’s the nature of an interview show. Like saying Oprah or Barbara Walter’s shouldn’t interview Bush or Clinton because they once interviewed Dr Ruth a sex therapist - ridiculous double standards simply because it’s a female podcast and I guarantee the male podcasts are just as bad. A lot of clips are going viral so support the positive ones with likes and good comments.
I appreciate that Mark Cuban has essentially hit the campaign trail for Kamala’s economic policy, bashing 🍊, talking about how 🍊 screwed over Barbara from Shark Tank. The same people who revered The Apprentice Businessman revere the Sharks. He went on Theo Von’s podcast and I saw some video clips that went viral. I don’t recommend you listen to the podcast because I don’t think you should support Von, I hate that’s what young men are listening to, and I think he seems really dumb, but I’m grateful to Mark Cuban for trying to talk some sense into his listeners.
ellipses84, I listened to several clips of the Von interview with Mark Cuban, and Von seemed like he was in wayyyy over his head with that interview, lol.
I appreciate the Harris campaign team being willing to take some risks and do things differently. They can reach a lot more people a lot more effectively by being on popular podcasts vs running more campaign ads on TV or sending out mailers that just go directly to recycling. I really hope it pays off for them!
I still wish she’d do some town halls. (Or has she, and I’ve missed them?)

I feel like the closest thing to a Town Hall was the Oprah interview because the setup was similar but the format wasn’t and it wasn’t advertised like that. It was called a rally with all the previous call to action groups, normal size live tv audience and a lot more people on video feed, all Kamala fans. Famous people and leaders of various grass roots organizations in the audience spoke. I’d love to see a town hall in a similar setup (and Oprah!)with some undecided / maybe not going to vote voters and audience questions. I wonder how much Q&A she’s been doing on campaign stops that hasn’t been televised or has only been shown on local news and not picked up by mainstream media. I’ve heard she has been granting local media quick interviews.
This is more generally campaign related, but I've seen a surprising number of Trump ads here in Dallas. Like. What? Could they actually be worried about Texas?

She's doing a town hall with Univision on Thursday.

I saw a few this weekend in Seattle. What a waste of money.

The Trump town hall (titled Los Latinos Preguntan … Donald Trump Responde) is set for Tuesday Oct. 8 at 10 p.m., and will be held in Miami, Florida. The Harris town hall (Los Latinos Preguntan … Kamala Harris Responde) will be held Thursday Oct. 10 at 10 p.m. in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Yes. Florida too.
They are worried about TX and FL, especially down ballot races but 🍊 isn’t giving any of his $$$ to down ballot races so I guess that’s the best they are willing to do. Alllred has a good chance against Cruz! I saw both presidential candidate commercials during football yesterday which I think was on YouTube TV so I think that’s the equivalent of running a national cable tv ad during Sunday football. I wasn’t *really* watching, it was just on in my house all day so IDK if it was mainly during swing state team games. The ads were more frequent later in the day. 🍊’s were full of lies and gave me the ick 🤢

Let them waste their money! It’s great that Harris’ campaign is so strategic and the other guy’s team is clearly not, doing things like rarely having rallies and when he finally does, having one in Montana or spending time and money campaigning on the west coast. That’s less money they’ll have for his legal fees and to spend in swing states.

Ted Cruz has one against Colin Allred about men in women’s sports that is just laughably melodramatic.

I'm not necessarily convinced or even hopeful that Texas will flip blue this time (though maybe and that would be fantastic) but I'm definitely loving the GOP candidates having to spend all this money to defend what was once considered a solid get for them.
Vice President Kamala Harris chastised Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for “playing political games,” following reports that DeSantis did not take the vice president’s calls regarding hurricane relief.
“You know, moments of crisis, if nothing else, should really be the moment that anyone who calls themselves a leader says they’re gonna put politics aside and put the people first,” Harris told reporters gathered at Joint Base Andrew in Maryland as she departed for New York Monday.
KamalaHQ, Stern’s show and others are already posting clips of the Stern interview 🔥 🔥 🔥
I’m not a fan of his, but her decision to go on his show was wise. They are talking about how🍊 backed out of 60 Minutes and how well she did, how he sent Covid tests to Putin while Americans were dying and couldn’t get tests, how he wants to get rid of the constitution and the protections we’ll lose. Stern is really digging in on the psychological motives of a narcissistic sociopath and he sounds like all of us about how America is at this dangerous precipice and she is responding perfectly. Of course the comment section does not pass the vibe check, particularly based on which app / audience skews older and more male. So much misogyny! I think it will get through to people who listen to the whole interview and generally listen to his whole show as part of their routine though.
