I hope no current or former presidents and vice presidents attend the inauguration. He can’t be normalized. And he skipped Boden’s, so he’s the one that set that tone.
Seeing her step out dressed for a funeral and remembering 4 years ago when she walked onto the stage with Biden dressed in all white. I remember watching that live and feeling my heart just sing. I just....

I would be shocked if any of the current or former presidents and vice presidents attend the inauguration

They showed up to his last one, so I wouldn’t be surprised. I’ll be angry and ashamed if they show up, but not surprised.
I can't bear another 4 years of him. I don't want to see his face or hear his voice and I hoped so much we could finally be rid of him. I don't even want to watch the satire shows anymore so I can just pretend everything is fine and he doesn't exist.
Funny how quiet his supporters are on all that fraud they were so sure was happening... 🧐

It seems as though we have elected an anti-trans person to our school board. Current results look like it was based not on this, but on the order in which they appeared on the ballot because anti-trans person #1 campaigned alongside anti-trans person #2 for a short-term board seat, and the person in the first position of both races is who is winning.
My only hope is that she is a lone wolf on the board and won’t be able to make any significant change.
High turnout in 2020 makes sense to me because people were home due to Covid and had nothing better to do. There were a lot more mail-in ballots and even states that make absentee ballots hard to get allowed a lot of exceptions. People were dying daily and people’s businesses were failing so there was urgency for change.
Yes. I don't know how high of a chance given everything but I did read that control of the House may not be known for days as votes are counted in California and elsewhere.
I don’t know if this has been said but 5th district Oregon flipped!!!! I really am so so so shocked. But so proud of my neighbors!
@@@@@ I am at my 8 year old’s cheer practice and one of the dads showed up with a “Hawk Tua Harris” tshirt on. Around a bunch of 6-8 year old girls.
I am seething and want to say something to him about how disgusting it is but I know that he wants reactions so I’m ignoring it. I know from engaging with other MAGAs that being ignored bothers them more.

Yes! I keep saying this too. What happened to all the fraud? It’s like he who smelt it dealt it. God I hate today so much.
I’m trying to figure out what the hell happened in MN. Harris won by a much more narrow margin than expected with Walz being on the ticket. They said on our local news there were a lot of split voters in my district for Trump/Amy Klobuchar/Angie Craig who are both very popular senate and House Dems. I’ve never seen split ticket votes like this since I first started voting in 2000. The MN state house is also at a tie currently with 2 districts down to a couple dozen votes which will likely cause recounts. Last election they easily went D. There was even one county that flipped from blue to red that had not done that since 1928.

I don't really get it either. Though I know the Walz hate is STRONG in the rural areas. I can't imagine anyone not voting for him/Harris but still voting Klobuchar? That seems so weird.

Same. It was way too close for comfort. I was surprised by it. I know the rural racism is strong. I grew up in it.
I had high hopes my House Rep would get ousted but he didn’t.
Also had high hopes my local house Rep would flip from R to D. This one was sooooo close.

Klobuchar has long term incumbency/name recognition advantages and has been able to position herself as a moderate/someone who works across the aisle (even as her own voting record is fairly liberal). My Trump-loving FIL also loves Klobuchar and says she’s the only Dem he’ll vote for. Go figure.
I’m not surprised by the shift in MN at all. I live in a liberal, strongly-blue-voting suburb immediately adjacent to MPLS - and I saw more Trump signs in my neighborhood this election season than I did 4 years ago. A lot of people in MN hate Walz and think that he (along with Jacob Frey) collectively screwed up the response to the George Floyd protests/riots and waited too late to call in the National Guard etc. Among many other perceived grievances.
ETA - I don’t think anyone decided to vote for Trump solely because they hated Walz, but I can see how a certain type of MN voter who was on the fence/apathetic about who to vote for would have reacted negatively to that choice of VP.
I’m not going to lie, I’m not helping anyone who voted Trump or Stein, including my own family. You get what you get. Oh eggs and houses and gas isn’t free? Theyre taking your SS and VA benefits? I’ll pray on it. I warned people for a decade now. My pink pussy hat and I are retired. My brown family and I see where we rank. We are done.

Well, Biden said he is planning to attend Trump's inauguration, but I wish he is not planning to go since Trump skipped Biden's inauguration

Biden has integrity and isn't a vengeful petty toddler. And while I love him for that I do wish his baser nature would prevail.

Never underestimate the power of incumbency, per melmaria’s post. This is actually something we need to lean on for the next elections even if the split tickets make zero sense to us; many voters aren’t allergic to voting D. But this is also why we need to get more Ds into office.
I had a few Rs on my ballot for local office run unopposed. I’d be curious to see if more Rs ran unopposed versus more Ds running unopposed. On a hunch, I feel like Rs are almost always more willing to put candidates up even in heavily blue areas where they have no chance. But now I bet they’re inspired to do it more after this week.
