It's for most of the house, not just the kitchen. But we paid in cash ($100 bills) for a better deal on top of other discounts. I didn't know how much $13,500 looks like in cash. I was imagining a pile of cash. LOL. With $100 bills, they fit fine in the pocket.
My husband is an accountant, and as part of one of his audits last year he had to drive to go to the backup trading floor that his broker/dealer client had set up on the top floor of an unrelated business in a sleepy New England town, to count the $200,000 in cash that they kept there. I was picturing him swimming in it like Scrooge McDuck, or at least being able to throw it up in the air and then have a nice pile to jump in or cushion to roll around in for a while.
But apparently it was like two piles that were like 3 apples high, and it took less than an hour and a half for he and his coworker to count it a few times. Most anti-climatic and disappointing assignment ever.
But I do love the idea that there are doomsday trading floors hiding on sleepy Main Streets everywhere. Glad to know that if we get hit by a nuke, billionaires will still be able to trade!

$13,500 cash for countertops. Next to that is $4,500 for landscaping blocks.
Whoa! How big is that kitchen?
That's about what granite would cost for our kitchen. The expensive part is that we have a huge island. The counters themselves aren't too bad. We might do one granite on the counters and another granite on the island. Whatever we do, it won't be soon.

When we got back from our honeymoon and opened up the cards from our wedding, we had a brief "money fight" with the cash ;D
We did spend just over 13K on a vacation a few years ago. We bare-boated (no skipper or crew) a boat in the BVI for a week. It was wonderful. I'd so love to go back but for a longer period of time.

Thus far this month, an $3800 paint job on a rental, but I just wired a truck load of money to buy the vacation house we close on tomorrow. It is by far the most money I have ever spent at one time.
