$4000 on a new front door. Normally mortgage would beat out anything. Not this month.
Wait, doors cost $4000?
I'm so glad I don't own a home. I would have estimated like $400 for that.
I know. Right? We started looking a year before DD was born. She's now 2. It was so hard to pull the trigger. And that's not even a wood door. That would have been $5000 plus we would have had to paint it. The good news is, they last a long time. Our house is 80 years old. It had the original door (which was ugly and nothing special - trust me).

Here's a $3k door ($3300 after tax):
That does not include installation or staining though. It's $3k just for the door. But we got it at supplier's cost because they messed up on our other order. It's a solid mahogany door.
They tossed in the multi point locking system and the handlesets. I'm not crazy about the handlesets but I'm not willing to pay $400 right now for a nicer handlesets.

VERY NICE!! Now I know what to look for if we ever decide to settle down and build our dream home haha.
I love Mahogany. We put solid mahogany floors in our first home and I really miss it. It helped us sell the house quick and for more than what we paid.
ETA: If you ask me, I would just pay the $400 to upgrade to what you really want because in the grand scheme of things it's not much more. Chances are it will cost more later.

Thanks! On the handleset, I'm waiting to replace/upgrade because we've been going over budget in every category. :-(

I see. Can you pip your whole house? It looks like it looks amazing.

Our neighbor foreclosed on her house, but not before gutting it. They also took the front door and left a wooden plank in its place. Guess it was a good financial move. :-|
d0ri - I think it looks awesome with the red bricks, but the white will be really pretty!
Thanks. I hope you're right. I'm having second thoughts on the paint. I've gone through 10+ paint samples. And I have not decided which one to use. That said, there's no way I wan to leave the red brick.
