I certainly don't see her as sexy. As far as the hair, I am not talking about the hair but the point that her clothes are sexy.
I don't see the clothes as a "look at me style". I just don't get why does a kid have to be covered from head to toe or plainly to be assessed as smart or an individual? This isn't what she wore to school.
Or at least that is the point I am trying to make.
I dont think the clothes are sexy, just tacky. But you cannot tell me that wearing your hair in a giant bow (or any hairstyle pioneered by the patron saint of attention whores for that matter) isn't screaming "look at me".
FFS, you can think the outfit is inappropriate for a kid and not think she's dressed like a hooker or that someone in leopard print heels deserves to be raped.
There's appropriate and inappropriate clothing. Period. Like the woman with the "fuck" shirt on American Airlines, or the girl with the wrap dress who was criticized for having her knockers hanging out. I think these days it's hard to teach kids things about dressing appropriately for your age and also for the situation. Like no jeans at a job interview. Not that hard, and yet many people can't comprehend it. I wouldn't dress my kid in that outfit, or let my 5 year old wear dangly earrings or makeup.
Also, most Christian/private schools ban non-conservative hair styles. Not because they're racist, but because they want conservative hairstyles. I only went to Catholic high school, but this is the hairstyle code from the elementary school attached to my HS: The [school name] dress code suggests a certain level of formality during the school day. The dress code is one aspect of our attempt to balance important issues of character, kindness, respect and humility to enable us to become a more socially just community. The uniform is exclusively from Lands’ End; khakis, polos, sweaters, skirts and skorts from other retailers will not be considered part of the uniform. The determination about whether a student’s attire complies with both the letter and the spirit of the dress code will belong to the faculty and administration.
Hair: Non-traditional hair styles or color, visible permanent or temporary tattoos, and body piercings are not permitted.
I believe the HS dress code also used to say something about clothing that did not conform to the "gospel values."
Oh that too! I actually love leopard print, though i don't own any.
I still think bratz dolls are trashy shit. Not because they are sexual (?) but because they're freakin' called BRATZ. I hate this "oh, I'm a little brat, teehee!" bullshit. It's not cute. Also that shirt is just ugly.
Dad's NOT an AW? Really? That's why he had his daughter pose both ways with an obvious spin to make her look miserable in normal wear, but happy as a lark in the other?
Yeah, I'm going with someone wanting to upsell his business and is using his kiddo to do it. Douche. ::gavel::
Look at the position of the bow on her haed in both of these. He re-did the style in each outfit for effect. ::doucher::
No one hates you but you do say some crazy shit. Just own it.
LOL, exactly. I actually like you. It's just that your particular brand of crazy usually comes totally out of left field.
You guys - it's ok. I kinda like having haters. I made my peace with it a while ago. I think it's how it's supposed to be, you and I. Let's just go with it.

Seesaw - would you rather that us poor black folk with girls with heads full of hair get relaxers so it's more accommodating for this clearly biased policy?
And you know, little black girls don't have to wear cornrows so I don't take it as a personal affront if I came across a school that axed them.
If you have a head full of hair like T does or her friend does, dayum right you pretty much need to wear cornrows. I twist T's hair up because it is a monster to comb when left as a free flowing afro. Her friend has hair like this ...
Her mother keeps her hair in cornrows all the time.
I love that blog. I've tried quite a few of those styles on DD. DD has 3b hair that when pulled straight is below her butt. 3b is a little easier to manage than other hair types, but I still do braids sometimes as a protective style. If I detangle her hair and let her wear it down too much, she gets a lot of breakage.

Yeah, ummm, no...that's not the least bit accurate, hence this 6 page thread. Just bc you think the outfit is inappropriate or wouldnt let your 5 y/o wear "dangly" earrings doesn't make it so.
