Is it, though? In a democracy you're supposed value being able to protest without being arrested/taken hostage. What the Israeli government did was kidnap women and teenagers off the streets, label them as prisoners (per your words and I'm sure that is probably how certain news sources are portraying it), and then offer them in exchange. All this after the same government has killed over 11,000 people (but probably more) about half of which are children.
50 kidnapped civilians for 150 prisoners. I am glad it is happening, but frustrated to see how the numbers work out, especially after so much of the world has criticized Israel for their response not being “proportional”.
I’m hoping that the majority of the hostages are still alive. Hamas has not allowed proof of life visits from the Red Cross and doesn’t even know where many of them are. There have been very few proof of live videos and many hostages confirmed to have died during captivity. Families aren’t even 100% sure their loved ones are in captivity as bodies were desecrated beyond any method of easy identification.
The 150 "prisoners" aren't prisoners in the traditional sense. A majority would be like you and I arrested during a protest. So they are also civilians.
Actually the filing for a mistrial is for the civil trial in NY, since the Trump team specifically called out the judge and the law clerk who is working with the judge.
I thought I had put this in the wrong thread, so thanks for confirming, lol!
Yes to congested ears and thinking something was wrong with my hearing aids, lol! I had to stop wearing them because they were making my ears hurt since everything was so swollen.
I'm taking my last dose of paxlovid tonight and feel almost completely normal.
Thinking about all of this shit happening again makes me mad, sad, and scared. They came so close to changing the truth, and it still is reverberating in our government.
I will say that I don’t blame people who have no other support system. For me, I do, but if I had no other family or people who could help me if needed I would invite people I don’t want around to keep the peace. Especially if 350 other days of the year I didn’t have to see that person.
Also, not that it’s an excuse, but one of my siblings believes brother has a mental illness which causes him to act that way. Having been out of the group for a long period and seeing it from the outside, he does not.
The type of people we're talking about though, will never offer support. They just take - even if it's not monetary it's emotional and other forms. And the people that are asking you to tolerate those people are emotional leeches as well.
Google has your answer to the space debris question, if you want to look and share. You don't have to wonder.
As for why it's news, it's a $100k tool bag that could have caused major damage to the space station. They're lucky it's on a non-collision course and it's being downplayed as an oops.
This is one of those fluff articles that really make my brain hurt thinking about how large space is, how much damage could have been done by a misplaced tool bag (but ultimately it was no big deal), that we could see the tool bag if we used binoculars... and on and on and on...
I've been following this on TikTok. I'm really surprised it hasn't gotten more news coverage.
I've been seeing articles in the news about this since it started (2021 off and on). I guess it's all relative on what media you consume. Aka, just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it's not there.
Did a virtual visit and was prescribed paxlovid. I reaaaalllly thought I just had a sinus infection. I'm super head congested, and my ear hurts from the pressure. No chest symptoms or anything. Tested this morning out of an abundance of caution and it popped positive right away. During the virtual visit the provider I saw said that this variant is presenting just like a sinus infection/very head cold-like.
In any case, I feel ok other than the head symptoms. I'm sad that I exposed my new office to covid.
