Form is (to some extent) the best way to speed up, as well as putting in the effort to actually go to the pool often enough to develop that muscle memory. Don't be the triathlete that blows off their swim practice for lack of time. That does not pay off in the long run.

So I just looked up my Olympic distance race time, my 1500m swim was clocked at 59:29. Some contributing factors- I had a minor freak out in the beginning after someone swam over me and hung on to a kayak for about a minute. I started way in the back to the right and all the turns were to the left. So that definitely added distance and time. But still, clearly I'm very slow
Half iron cut off time for 1.2 miles is 1:10.
Oh and I definitely don't blow off swimming! Now that it's training season I will def be swimming 2-3x per week. It's not realistic to do more than that though since some weeks I work 80+ hours. Thanks for the feedback!
Ok, so assuming nothing changes, right now you're going to miss cut off by about 10 minutes. (There are ~1950 meters in a half iron swim) Your previous swim was almost 4:00/100, so given your current pool speed, this is TOTALLY doable. You only need a 3:30/100 to make the cutoff and you said you're cruising at 3:15/100 in the pool?
How many sprint sets do you do in a workout? (For example, 10x100 on 2:50)

I'm not a lawyer. But while it's probably legal, it seems dumb to do that. Honestly, I'd be most interested in protecting myself at this point, because that person seems a little off. Call the police department to whom you gave your statement and let them know that you received this call and want it documented in case further craziness occurs.

We are having the weirdest weather ever. Yesterday, I drove 10 minutes to the UPS store to drop off a RTR bag and over the middle 1/3 of that drive, it switched from rain to snow and back to rain again in basically the space of 3 minutes, yet the temperature kept dropping. Today is supposed to be pretty much the only nice day this week, and we're supposed to get 3-5 FEET of snow this weekend at 4000 feet and above. So freaking weird.
Also, I've been having some strange symptoms lately, and I cannot swim until I get it figured out. Like, I feel fine, but I have some, ahem, intestinal distress. Like, 3-5x per day. It's getting OLD.

I read this nonsense about arming teachers and I'm trying to imagine my mom, who taught 4th grade for 40 years, being handed a gun and taught to use it, which is freaking terrifying. Teachers aren't typically the type who could hurt/kill someone on purpose.
My local boards are full of parents being like "THIS IS A FAILURE OF PARENTS EVERYWHERE! BEAT YOUR KIDS HARDER! EMBED A GPS MONITOR IN THEIR ARM SO YOU ALWAYS KNOW WHERE THEY ARE! STALK THEM ON SOCIAL MEDIA! TAKE YOUR GUN TO THE SCHOOL PICKUP LINE!" (I can't even make this shit up, the GPS monitor thing was an *actual suggestion* I saw this morning.) I hate living in a red county.
I went to swim for the first time in about a month. When I opened up my locker, my goggles and cap weren't there. I freaked out thinking that I was going to have to skip my swim for like the millionth time in a row because I am a dumbass. Then I had the brilliant idea to check the showers. So, apparently I left my cap and goggles in the shower a month ago and they were still there. Doh. But, bright side, I got to swim!
I can't help but be a little grossed out that the cleaning crew from your gym didn't remove them in a month. Like, what else are they ignoring?
I haven't been to the pool recently and I need to get on it. But I don't wanna - it's so freaking cold in the mornings and I don't want to swim outside in this weather. Waaaaaa.

Focus on leading the crunch with your chest/boobs. I had this issue and that was my solution from my instructor. Your leading edge needs to be closer to your midsection than your head. Your arms are just there to keep your relaxed neck from flopping backwards.

Please take care of yourself. PTSD is a real thing in those that witness crashes, so if you start feeling off, get yourself to a therapist ASAP.

As a realtor, those aren't shameful. But they're clearly non-professional. Since using another realtor or a professional photog is off the table at this point, I'd restage the living room slightly so it doesn't look like you have all your furniture clumped to one side, move your angles down, and fiddle around with light and exposure times.
As regards the living room, do you have a rug? I'd do the rug in the center of the room with both chairs angled off it and facing the fireplace, maybe with a small decorative table in between them. The kids' rooms look great. Don't worry about the books on the wall.

I take D, magnesium, and ferritin (a subtype of iron). Despite the fact that I literally swim outside for HOURS every week, my vitamin D levels are typically in the low teens. The magnesium is both to help with D absorption and, because of the swimming, I get electrolyte imbalance easily, so it helps keep me more even and prevents cramping.
My doctor attributes sunscreen use to vitamin D deficit. He says the lower someone's vitamin D is, the more likely they are to be religious about sunscreen. (He does not advise discontinuing sunscreen use, lol). Whether this is hokum or not, it makes total sense to me.

Not crazy. I have had similar dreams, both about Cat and my dad. Both were comforting. Even if it was just in my head and not really "them" checking in, it brought me peace each time. In fact, in one of the dreams about my dad, he and Cat were sitting on dad's favorite recliner - Cat was on his lap, just purring and purring and dad was petting him occasionally and just watching tv. Since they died exactly one year apart - to the day - it felt right that they were hanging out together.

I'm trying to finish about 6 WIPs at once, but Saturday I took some time ahead of Stitches West to dig out all the yarn in my stash, figure out whether or not it's on Ravelry (spoiler alert, most of it wasn't, sigh), and get it organized and purged. There's definitely some cheap yarn I'm going to be dropping off at Goodwill this week - I don't even love it enough to put in the effort to rehome it myself.
Spreading my stash out on our (king-sized) bed should have been shameful, but it wasn't. It was rather glorious. LOL
mrs.jacinthe- I was trying to get a camera bag repaired for a friend who lives out of the country. No sewer/tailor would touch it. I found a luggage company that also does repairs and they fixed it without a problem. Thought I'd share in case the person you contact can't help.

I bought an LL Bean backpack when I was in college in 1997. Currently, it is sitting next to me on the floor of my office. Because I'm still using it. The thing is fucking phenomenal.
However, the thought has never crossed my mind to return it on the eventual day something goes wrong with it. I'll pour one out for my backpack that lasted 20+ years and buy a new fucking backpack.
Same. One strap is starting to pull out, so I'm contacting a local seamstress to see if she can fix it. Lol
1) I'm trying to cut out all refined sugar between now and marathon day. So I'm a grumpus with clear signs of sugar withdrawal
2) I have really really struggled to get up early since the holiday break. It's been a month now and I just can not seem to drag myself out of bed early enough to get my workouts in in the morning before the day gets going. I have no excuse for this. I can do it if I'm just used to doing it, but as soon as I get my body used to sleeping in a little, it's so hard to not snooze that early early alarm.
I downloaded a new alarm app called "Alarmy" that has been fantastic. It allows you to pick a "challenge" that must be completed before the alarm will shut off. For example, you can do math problems, take a photo of something specific, or (my favorite) shake the phone a certain number of times. I'm sure I look ridiculous shaking my phone in the bathroom in the morning (haaaaayyy), but I've not gone back to bed/hit snooze since I started using the app.
My random/whine is that I've said yes to too much and I'm completely overcommitted right now and EVERYTHING is going to hell because of it. My house is a wreck, I haven't gotten more than 6 hours of sleep in weeks (it says a lot that I felt RESTED after 24-hour relay), and I'm making sloppy mistakes. But what do I drop? I can't drop clients because I need money and I love my job, I can't exactly return my cat for being too much work (because I totally knew that when I adopted him), etc etc etc.

I have about 25 WIPs right now, but my favorite is this diagonal twist scarf from Purl Soho (minus that I just had to rip about 4 inches because I FREAKING SOMEHOW MOVED THE STITCH MARKER).
Seriously, though, how does a stitch marker that is literally just slipped each round wind up somehow scootched over 4 stitches? It never came off the project, to my knowledge.

Honestly, until my boy, Cat, died a few years ago, I'd have said yes. I absolutely would risk my life to save him. (We live or die together, amirite?) But now, I don't know. We have two cats who would be tough to catch in a fire scenario and I'm not nearly as emotionally glued to either of them as Cat. I think the dog would run out the door the second I opened it, so we'd be good with her.
I was just talking to someone this weekend about this. In essence, bitcoin is a way for tech bros to a) get rich b) separate themselves FURTHER from the "have-nots" and c) feel smug about it.

Yep. I think I got some quinoa cross contamination. It usually passes after about 8 hours.
Slept in this morning after going to bed at 9pm - clearly we were both exhausted. Skiing destroyed my quads and calves yesterday, but the conditions were pretty good and J's cousins were nice. Today I've got a 12 mile run and then puttering around the house. I'm going to try my first attempt at wedding cake practice today, so that should be interesting.

labbie, I will, I promise. Aquatic life is just part of ocean swimming, so it's just a risk I have to take and mitigate as best I can. That doesn't make it less scary, though.

I donate every 8 weeks without fail (provided I can keep my hemoglobin numbers up). I find that when I am training, it actually helps me recover better from the donation if I do a hard workout right before (like RIGHT before). I always plan my donation accordingly - swim from 7-8:30 on Saturday morning, then shower and head to the donation center by 10. Sundays are my day off, usually, so I then have the recommended 24-48 hours of rest before I'm back in the pool Monday am. It works well for me.
