I think that was from earlier episodes. Newer ones were very honest, saying they had multiple properties and had been doing more "consultant" flipping now.
Obviously, I haven't watched in a while, lol.
I remember seeing two episodes in a row- one older episode where they had to borrow from his parents and the next was a "consulting" one with a super pricey place. It was weird to see the growth in their business and what expenses were damaging to the budget.
So their company is a real company now - They showed more of it during a behind-the-scenes show and you'll notice that their construction guy wears "T&C" clothes on the show now. I don't know how many employees they have, but they showed where they hired a guy just to go scout flips for them.
So, I think the intro is the same, but I have seen much less of the "HOW ARE WE GOING TO FEED OUR CHILDREN" than there used to be. They're now building $150K backyards so..
The only thing I have to add here is that I did not see this coming. Anyone? I watch the show here and there and never noticed anything changing between them. And they are awful actors so I can't see them hiding it too well. Hmmmm.
I remember reading somewhere that the profit shown is real and that they split it with their partner investor. Then they get paid $10K per episode from HGTV. Apparently they did like 80 flips in 2014.
I feel for them both that his mental state got to the point of FB rants, guns, and helicopter chases. I'm sure it wasn't easy for either of them, especially with an infant.

I wonder what will happen. Will Tarek buy her out? Will he change the company name?
Weird that the helicopter incident wasn't talked about more six months ago? How did they keep that out of the press? They were also taken to task for real estate "classes" they sold to people.
I don't really have more stories to tell but yes they have their own T&C Construction trucks that I see all over town.
As far as the helicopter incident, our local facebook page was all the buzz about it and when it came out that the incident involved those 2, people were practically rolling their eyes. NO ONE wants them to have the extra attention here. There were also rumors that he had a pretty bad pill popping issue after his back surgery which is what caused the split, but I have no idea if that's true or not.
Oh no, I loved them! I LOVE Christina, she has mastered the judgy side eye, she is, in my book COOL AF! Tarek is kind of a head case I think. I follow them on facebook, and a few months ago he posted a really long random rant, about his health (he had a thyroid issue I think) and how he lost all this weight and was super depressed. I don't really remember what the point of it was, I was just surprised because I figured someone like him wouldn't really get so personal on a public facebook page. This probably happened right around the time the police were called to their house, so he was probably in a dark place.
Its sad, the family was really cute, and I think they had a nice dynamic, working together like they did. Maybe they aren't the best actors, but they seemed real to me.
I don't know if its true or not, but there was something going around saying that a viewer alerted him about his health issues (was it thyroid?) because she noticed swelling in his neck.

Aren't those par for the course when you are on those shows? I am thinking of Armondo Montelongo.
Which reminds me did anyone watch the Original Flip this house? The folks who sued A&E? You know that dude ended up leaving his wife for Ginger???
jeaniebueller It was real. A nurse watching the show noticed the lump in his throat and his hoarse voice. She wrote to the show and her letter of concern made it to him. He had thyroid cancer.

OMG, H and I used to laugh at him all the time. Also, the rhyming name gets me every time.

I remember hearing about the thyroid stuff. A nurse recognized a characteristic lump on his throats and contacted the show saying he needed to get that checked immediately. He did and she was right. Basically saved his life!
The definitely aren't my favorite personality-wise. I don't mind their show though. I've been pretty impressed by some of their flips. I do figure they have a ton of money the way they can make half-mil all cash offers.
This makes me sad. Looks like I am in the minority but I really liked them. And it sounds like he has some mental health issues. I feel bad for all of them.
iammalcolmx What ever happen to Armondo? He was such an asshole on the show.
Looks like he's run a bunch of those "classes" and had some legal issues with them as well.
He was the worst! They would find dry rot in a floor board and he would say something like "oh, let's just throw some spackle over it." LOL I am sure the houses he flipped were total shitboxes after.

They are annoying but we watch to see prices for the different areas near us. I stopped on the design ideas. It has become a joke when we watch now. Gray laminate floors - distressed looking. Gray bathrooms, gray kitchens and light, medium or dark gray exterior paint with white trim for the pop. Gray. Gray. And more Gray.
I'm sorry for their children though. It has to be tough to live one life on camera and then another in the real world.
The story says they are still going to work together professionally? Well that's not going to be awkward.
Did she "really" do anything though? Besides pick out furniture staging? I would think this means that the money she has invested will still stay there and she will still pull a paycheck.
I could be wrong on this assessment. All I ever saw her do was stop by in lululemon and with perfect make up and say things were "super cute"
Her roles were majority the design of the interior and exterior as well as working with Tarek in selling the flip, which I definitely think was doing a lot even though she may not be there for the construction every day. I think there was only one episode I saw where I didn't like a design choice she made, but for the most part she really seemed to know what worked well and what buyers wanted to see.

I actually didn't hate them together. They never did any over the top fake lovey-dovey bit so I guess to me they seemed more real.
I know I'll be an outside on this but Chip and Joanna is the HGTV couple I can't stand to watch. Something about them always comes off very "look how adorable we are together!".
I am pretty sure they aren't that involved in their flip IRL. They buy the properties and pick colors and whatnot but their contractors do all the demo/building. They don't get their hands dirty. Just a little bit for the show. If you are successful in the flip business, you have someone else do the dirty work for you.

+2. They have a weird mother-child dynamic where she's always reigning in his goofiness. I'd want to punch him if I were her.
His immaturity is not cute and endearing. It's obnoxious. At least to me. She seems to think otherwise and it seems to work for them.
Their oldest always looked pissed off when he's on the show. I'm sure this is partially being a tween, but I feel like I can hear his eyes rolling when they're too cheesy. lol.
