They really have something to prove by shoving their happiness down our throats.
+2. They have a weird mother-child dynamic where she's always reigning in his goofiness. I'd want to punch him if I were her.
I could totally see her as being one of those wives that refers to her husband as one of her kids in that not so subtle way of hinting to the fact that the husband doesn't act with equal maturity of the wife.
Wow, and to think we almost bought one of their flipped houses.
They all look nice on TV, but are they really that great in person? That surprises me. It was always my guess that it was well-done work but using crappy materials.
Oh I bet that the ones they do on TV are maybe more budget than other expensive ones they might do, huh?
From what I see on the show, they don't do things cheaply. Sure, it's not top of the line but it's not the cheap stuff either. I'd buy one of their houses.
Yeah my impression has always been that they do things "right"
I am surprised at the Chip and Joanna hate! But I get that his antics would probably get old irl. I like their relationship though. I don't think it's fake and I won't fault them for being in love

I feel like I read a story where he tried to majorly upgrade her engagement ring at their 10th anniversary and she refused it, saying her original, tiny ring meant so much more to her. I thought it was a nice story.
Aside from being drop dead gorgeous irl, just IMO. I'm kind of obsessed with her (love her style)
I love her style too, clothing and design. I feel like I am opposite girl here sometimes! I always like the shoe and dress everyone else hates. I think Tarek is cute too.

When H and I were remodeling our house went to some of their suppliers. Not crappy materials and not cheap enough for us! Seriously, most of the stuff they choose is out of our modest budget.

Huh. I just assumed that was how flippers make money. I'll have to pay closer attention next time!
Between this and the Fixer Upper backlash that they haven't addressed hgtv is going to need some new shows stat!
What Fixer Upper backlash?
Their church is staunchly anti LGBT. The church believes in gay conversion therapy. HGTV released a statement that they do not discriminate. The only thing from Chip and Jo is a tweet from Chip that in times of trouble you'll find his family at church.
And yeah its sad when parents split but...they had an AR-15 in the home. So. My sympathy extends only as far to the kids. Not to the one or both adults in that household who were complicit in that nonsense.
If the weapon was in a locked gun safe, where the kids can't get it why does it matter what gun they had?

I like FoF well enough. I always feel like she stops him from cheaping out.
If anyone is a more than a little bit surprised that the Gaines' are good little superconservative churchgoers, you need a hit to the noggin with some shiplap. Come on now :-)

I loved their show.
For many folks, the mere fact that the gun darkened their doorway was enough.

Did you read the article?
That he ran away from the house with a gun? Nowhere does it mention that the Guns taken were not in a safe. Obviously mentally unstable people around children with guns isn't the best, but the mere fact that they have guns doesn't make them bad parents.

Huh. I'm not surprised but I am surprised. I figured them for churchy, but mason jar candles and guitars at service churchy. Not conversion therapy churchy. Maybe because they live in a college town?
