That’s a long time. But I know the advice is to not get a mammogram for 6 weeks because of potential swollen glands for that long so maybe it’s similar? I had a swollen gland in my neck and head for almost 6 weeks Post dose 2. I was going to go to the doc if it wasn’t gone by the 6 week mark, then poof! Gone.
I can sign up on Wednesday for my vaccine appointment!!! It appears there have been little to no issues with the 40-49 group, so I am hopeful that Wednesday will go well.
The mass vaccination site in rural eastern MD has availability all day, every day this week again. Which is great I guess but also SO FRUSTRATING when people here in central MD can't get appointments. Re route those shots, governor!
But I guess it's a good sign that getting shots will be easier and easier.
My mind went straight to the Hawaii cycling class incident that was cited in the article where a presymptomatic instructor infected every single person in the class.
I have enjoyed riding my bike at home and eventually will want to take a group cycling class again, and I suppose I could since I'm fully vaccinated but it's a windowless room with only one door. Even though they will require masks in the classes, the article above mentions how the masks become less effective when they're is sweat dripping all over them. Indoor gym classes are just a bad idea right now - NYC has among the recent case rates.
Our gyms started back class MONTHS (like last summer) ago. They did space people 6 feet apart etc and said they limited class sizes but half followed their own rules. Now gyms are fully open and cases are still dropping so it is what it is. I am still not going to classes until I am fully vaccinated.

I’m beginning to feel like the last person in the entire country not vaccinated yet. We Zoomed with my 20-something cousins and they’re all eligible for appointments already. Most of my friends have also been vaccinated.
But! California is opening access to everyone in just a few weeks. It seems like forrrrever, but I know it’s not.
Why do I have pain in my 2nd shot injection site 5+ weeks after getting it? So weird.
When I was younger I used to get allergy shots every week or two, always in the same arm. Even years after I stopped, I would occasionally get a random hive-like feeling in that spot like I would whenever I got the injection. It was the strangest thing ever.

Fellow unvaccinated Californian here. 17 days! I've started hunting for appointments in hopes of getting one on the 15th. Our local CVS has availability but it only goes out to the 3rd. It's keeping me hopeful that DH and I can get one quickly.
My county just announced an immediate opening of appointments to anyone 16 and over.
Holy crap.
It's a mass clinic, operating with guard assistance, and is open 6 days a week. Open to anyone in Illinois. Moderna and Pfizer available, indicated in the sign up forms. (Some days are all one, some days are all the other.)

My H got his vaccination yesterday. He is experiencing the same symptoms as I did (wiped out and sore joints). He learned from my experience and took a pain killer and now is feeling a lot better. My MIL got her second this morning. So now things feel a lot better for all of us - at least I know that my MIL will be safer with her 2 jabs and with us having our first jab (obviously in 2 weeks after the jab to be fully working).

It would help if Wicomico county would open up beyond Phase 1C. Only last week was I notified that 1C's could even register for a vaccine. The mass vax site has only been opened since March 18ish. There is also no advertising of the site to get people there. Our site hasn't had the time to become a well oiled process like the sites across the bay.

Oh, yeah. That's silly to only be open to 1C. I'd be totally fine with them leaving those shots there and opening up to everyone. I just want them to be distributed!
Most reports of that site are that it's very efficient and lines are short. Basically in and out. They should just open it up. It doesn't make sense to limit it if they can distribute more than they are.

Yes! Gotta say, if there is not enough demand, open it up!
My dad is getting his 2nd shot today. He's starting radiation a week from today, and I'm so glad he will a) have a chance to bounce back from the post-2nd-dose hangover before starting radiation, and b) be fully vax'ed before having to go out daily for 3 weeks for radiation.
I am so frustrated with NY right now. Both for the opening up that SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING RIGHT NOW with our rising case rates, and with being one of the last two states to not have a plan for when all adults 16+ will have access. H & I have both been very fortunate to get a first dose (him via job, me via volunteering) but OMG Cuomo, MY PEOPLE NEED SHOTS. And rising case rates demand that we get the shots out there, or we'll get swamped by another wave.

Yes open it up!! I know a lot of younger people who are ready for the vaccine. Also, tourist season will be starting soon people let the people who need/want it to get it. Until just the past few weeks the supply has been so low with no appointments anywhere. A quick search last Friday, I was able to see open appointments at Sam's club and other pharmacies. I feel lucky to have my 1st vaccine.
But Wicomico county did do a special vac appointment for coworkers traveling overseas to support defense work. Even gave then J&J (because of travel dates). They indicated they have a very low supply of that vaccine.

Yes-OC was a bit of a shit show with masking so I definitely support getting people out there vaccinated ASAP.

Same boat up here in Washington. H and I are not yet eligible. But most of our friends are and all of my family out here are. H just got a new job where is he "essential" (he will be working for a biotech company) so he may be eligible and is trying to figure that out today, but I won't be until May 1.
My sister called to ask about getting together for Easter. She was wondering if we would feel comfortable being indoors since my parents, sister, and brother-in-law are all fully vaccinated.
@@@ I had to remind her that her 18 yo daughter flies back 3 days before Easter from a NOLS trip in Mexico. So no, even though she had COVID last September we don't feel comfortable being indoors.@@@

Wow. I just a tweet that 37.9% of Marylanders 18+ have received at least one dose. Weren't we just at like 20% like a minute ago? That is so encouraging to me!!

I think they do that by design — either so they can schedule second dose appointments more easily or because they don’t know what supply will be like. I’ve yet to see a pharmacy website here that’s scheduling out more than a week or two.
(Also, I think technically scheduling isn’t open to the general public until the 15th. If you try to make an appointment earlier, you still have to attest that you’re eligible for some other reason. FWIW ...)

ugh! If only he would do this, it isn't as if he hasn't been asked by the local governments to do this. I agree, it is so frustrating.

Our case numbers aren’t budging despite having the majority of older people vaccinated at this point. It’s obviously younger people who are catching and spreading it at this point, so the sooner we can get younger people vaccinated the better off we’ll all be. Hopefully opening up to everyone in a few weeks will finally start to bring our case numbers down.

Very promising study from the CDC of just under 4,000 workers most at risk of getting infected at work (healthcare, police, etc.). Workers from multiple states were studied. These are amazing results. The vaccines were 80% effective after one dose and 90% after two.

Aw, man, even if I make the appointment for after the 15th? I assumed it only mattered when I actually showed up to be vaccinated. Not that it looks like I will be able to make the appointment much earlier than that anyway.

Oh great... I have a coworker there this week. One of those “super careful” people who goes to OC, spends 3 weeks in Florida, and took a trip to the Caribbean in January. Yeah.... ok.
New York is vaccinating 30+ starting tomorrow and all adults by 4/6!!! Susie
I wish WA would do something similar. I have to admit I'm a little annoyed that as a 48 year old with one comorbidity I am not eligible until the same time as healthy 18 year olds.
