We moved up bedtime from 8 to 7 because of the last 3 days and because DD is a terrible napper. This in addition to weaning the swaddle - doing sleep sack with armholes sewn closed to start.
Oh, and yesterday we tried a sleeper with inside out sleeves... And she managed to find her way into the sleeves and put them right side out. This girl...
The beginning of the evening today was awful, lots of crying and screaming. Once she settled after a few times of me going in to rock/give pacifier, she slept from 8:30-12:30 which was pretty good I think! I just nursed her and put her back and she seems good, no stirring. Yay!
Another wake-up, so she slept about 90 min maybe this time? Just nursed her and put her down, I think I have to go back ... Laid down in bed and she's moving on the monitor already. Sigh.
We're trying our first night of swaddle weaning, its going just OK so far. Beginning of the night was many melt downs from DD. She just slept 1.5 hours and is up again. I'm sending DH to rock her, hopefully I won't be needed but I probably will end up comfort feeding her again.
Soo DD keeps trying to roll over in her sleep. She refuses to try when awake. What do I do? She keeps waking up.. should I unswaddle her her arm/s? I can't go another night with no sleep.
E had a busy night. Up at 9, 1:30, 2 (I didn't nurse him to sleep for this one, just paci and rocking), and now again at 5:30. I'm tired.
fashionx, E is doing the same. We still have him in the bassinet of the pnp, so it's soft mesh sides. When he hits those things, he doesn't wake up. Scared me a lot at first.
I'm wondering if I should do the PNP bassinet instead of the crib for awhile, maybe she would sleep better.
After the first half of the night was good, she woke up again after an hour and I brought her into our bed. I'm pretty sure she still woke up every hour even then but I was half asleep for most of it.
Wake up #2 here after a 3.5 hour stretch. S went down around 9:30, then had a midnight feed, and is now up again, not bad! This should get us to around a 7ish wakeup for the day.
When have people started to use the crib vs bassinet/rnp? Her crib is still technically in our room (if you remember my closet conversion) but the bassinet is up against the bed. She scoots down the bassinet in her sleep sometimes and gets her feet to the bottom and I think it wakes her up? I'm wondering if the bigger space of the crib would help.
We switched when DD got too long for the bassinet, around 2 months old. But I know that's early for many. We now do the first few shifts in her crib and then I usually bring her into our bed and co-sleep for the rest of the night/early morning because I'm too tired to keep getting up. If my bassinet had been bigger we probably would have just kept her in there until 3-4 months when we can kind of start sleep training.
ETA: The actual transition wasn't bad though, the bassinet was a flat surface already and so is the crib.
Good night so far, took a late nap with DD from 6:30-9, then but her in her crib at 10:30, woke up at 1:15. Only half hour later though and she woke herself up.. She keeps rotating herself in the crib and waking up. Like we put her down facing one way and she spins herself (not rolling over yet, but maybe she's trying?). She hit her feet on the side of the crib rails just now, DH is rocking her back to sleep.
Not sure what to do to prevent this from waking her though, we had 2 nights of shitty sleep (60-90 minutes between wakeups), so tonight is definitely better but I'm not sure what's going on. We thought maybe teething but now I'm not sure.
DD won't take them consistently, Soothies were ok for a couple weeks, but MAM's seem to stay in her mouth better. She will take them from me when I have her in a carrier and keep them in, but in the car seat, going to bed or most of the time at home she will not take them at all, or we have to hold them in her mouth for awhile while she spits them out or protests. We tried the Wubbanub and it was ok but got another called Nookums, which is basically a Wubbanub animal but has a silicone circle in the animal mouth so it can attach to any brand pacifier. We use that with the MAM and works better, and she can hold it even if she's not using the paci and seems to enjoy it in the car especially.
I need that handle thing for the infant carrier. I keep knocking the whole thing into my legs when I walk with her, even short distances like the house to the garage.
I definitely felt a pressure to BF from midwife/OB/nurses, etc. but was already interested in BFing at least to start out with. My goal was and is to make it to 6 months, and to go from there. My situation is different from a lot of working moms in that I have my own business (freelance work) and work from home, and could afford with DH's salary to take some time off and working extremely part time that staying home with DD and feeding on demand makes sense right now. However in the last couple weeks since I have started working a little bit, and needed to pump in the car or on a client's job site, I have even more respect for moms who pump every day. I am not sure I would go as long as I plan to if I was back at a job full time and needing to pump every day multiple times, and I'm sure I would feel guilty since so many people push BFing. I'm very much "whatever works for mom" in this situation. Just let us feed our babies!
I do think it's important to have support, either way. We need to feel secure that our decisions we make as mothers are good and benefiting our children, and the backlash from people is not ok.
I lost 7 lbs when I went home from the hospital, and DD was 6lbs 14oz. So yeah.
We are having another sleepless night tonight... Ahhh! We are on wake-up 3 or 4 now? And I nursed, changed diaper because she kept farting and figured better safe than sorry later. Nursed some more and rocked to sleep. Put her down, within 5 minutes she's farting again and wide awake. I pick her up to rock asleep again and she burps, so maybe that was it? Nope! Had her down another 5 minutes and she's up again. DH is rocking her now.
I would talk to the office manager, that is dumb for them to not allow a switch.
We switched pedi's for DD within the same practice after a month because we got a rec from our close friends who saw another Dr in the practice, and I'd met her in the hospital when DD was born and liked her right away. The pedi I chose first was fine, but I didn't like that she pushed for me to FF when her bio stated one of her specialties was breastfeeding. When scheduling our next visit the reception asked, scheduling with Dr. A? And I said, actually can you give me times for Dr. B? And it was no big deal. I'm not sure if they list Dr. A as the primary or not, but for well visits I can choose so it's not an issue.
I just want to commiserate with noodleoo because I was up every hour last night with DD and discovered early this morning that I have a milk blister and clogged ducts both on my right boob. I didn't even know this was a thing! I've been trying heat, hot shower, pumping, massage and compression, nothing was coming out.
Just nursed and I think something must have finally come out since she's OK and napping now, but omfg I wanted to scream in pain.
Team kick everyone out. I wish I'd done that with E, our 2nd day in the hospital was so frustrating. Well and it started on the first day, where my MIL and her bf were in my recovery room before I was, because DH had told them the baby was coming when I told him not to until after, and they had come the night before when I was in labor. Day 2 I think MIL held DD more than me, and between that and the constant interruptions with nurses etc. we had a rough time nursing and she already had a poor latch. No LC since I gave birth on a Saturday.
Next time I need to make sure DH listens to me, and if not I'm just going to kick everyone out and oh well if they're mad.
So sorry you are having a rough time with family, but I think you're doing great and don't supplement unless you want to. And if you want to, don't feel bad! It's OK!
They look like they're the right height and a good color.
The heel looks a little off to me but maybe it's the angle of the photo, how high is it?
Sent from my Moto X using Proboards.
I think that's what's throwing it off for me too. I wish the heel was a contrast color or cork maybe? It's like an inch heel.
Yeah they would look better with a contrast material or color, it's so close to the boot color I think that's why it looks funny. It's not terrible but it would bug me.
I'm like bimbi284, I enjoy multiple styles/aesthetics. I tend to be on the casual side of things for every day since I don't have a job with a dress code (I work from home most days or when I do see clients it's not a formal situation). I love dressing up though and luckily I get to have fun with my clothes the most when I go to events, which is fairly often.
I would say my style mix is comfy/casual, a little edgy, a little girly/playful. I like cute/quirky prints, patterned/colored leggings and tights, leather and sequin details. My ballet flats and loafers both have spikes (Sam Edelman).
I don't do boho a lot and I would never call myself preppy, but otherwise most things are fair game for me. I like to have fun with clothes and I don't think I would if I chose one particular "style."
Btw - if you do a tour, they might make a pit stop at a touristy type shop where you can use bathrooms and purchase stuff....the tourist shops are generally overpriced (obv), but inside the attractions, you have guys out there selling stuff for much cheaper. I bought a whole set of silver jewelry for like 40$ vs the $600 the tourist shop wants for almost identical thing. My H said they probably just throw out as high a price as possible in hopes that as a tourist you'll just accept, but who knows....
DD has been napping on me on and off all afternoon. She just woke up though and started sucking on her hand, then started crying when she realized it was her hand and not a nipple. Lol
As soon as she got the real thing she was OK of course.
- call insurance to figure out if lip tie corrections (and dental at all?) is covered for DD. Emailing them through the portal gave me no answer. I hate calling insurance. - take pictures of clothes to sell on BST board/FB groups - take 2 walks this week (I did it last week yay!)
We went on a cruise with both stops a couple years ago and opted for water activities in Cozumel because its so beautiful there. We did snorkeling - water was very clear and we saw tons of cool fish.
We went to Chacchoben though and both thought it was very cool. We got to climb on some of the ruins too and that was pretty neat.
ETA: Also the bus ride there wasn't too bad from the Costa Maya port, less than an hour. IIRC its a lot longer to Tulum.
