Yes- put your screen name in there somewhere. I do think it will be easier to figure out this year, because it's a smaller group than in previous years, but, it's nice to be able to to say thank you.
Oh whoops! I sent mine off and didn't know we were supposed to reveal. Okay I guess I'll have to get in touch with my....ornament receiver? :-P
I gave them to my dad at his party last night and they were a hit.
Rock-N-Voll- I did some embroidery when I was little, but hadn't done any in years. I used an embroidery hoop to do these, which made a night and day difference in the result.

Cute! I've been using that heidi and finn pattern a lot recently but hadn't thought of adapting it into a dress. I like it! I'll tuck the idea away for if I have a girl someday.

I went with the handkerchief idea and finished them last night.
I originally thought about embroidering different "after someone sneezes" sayings from around the world. But then I realized that in French there's a perfect trio of phrases to use, and I had 3 handkerchiefs for him. So that's what I went with (my mom is from France and dad is fluent...so that's the connection).
So in french we say "a tes souhaits," when someone sneezes (to your wishes), if they sneeze again you say, "a tes amours" (to your loves), and the sneezer is supposed to say back "que les tiens durent toujours" (to your (loves) lasting forever).

What is the paint that you use on your blocks? I know I've asked you before, and I should have written it down, but I didn't.
I have some scrap wood that I want to make blocks out of for DS for Christmas. They're leftover 2x4's from building our chicken coop, so they'll just be triangles, squares and rectangles, but hopefully still fun for him to play with. Do you happen to know of any reason I shouldn't use 2x4s for this? They're not pressure-treated, so I don't think there's any chemicals added or anything.
Thanks...hope it's okay that I'm asking you all these questions!

I have to agree with Rock-N-Voll...the crafty moms do seem to have unusually cute children. Must be the reason we are motivated to make cute clothes for them

I adapted the Heidi and Finn urban hoodie pattern to make DS a jacket. It's woven fabric, so I made it in 5T, and put cotton batting in to make it warmer. Added pockets, lengthened the bottom and voila!
Next time I'll have to change the neckline so it's not so huge and goes up a bit higher. But overall I'm happy with the results.
What's completed? A knit hat for a friend. I also finished my craft board exchange ornament and an ornament for us.
What's in the works? I'm halfway through a knit hat for MH and started yet another hat for another friend. I just learned how to knit in the round. Can you tell?
What hasn't been started? An ornament for my parents, a couple for friends, some more hats, knitted sweater for DS, some lavender sachets, sewn jacket for a friend's DD, and some sewn toys for DS.
What are you most excited to give? Husband's hat because I've only worked on it when he's not around so it'll be a surprise. Also the jacket for my friend's DD. I love the fabric I got for it and can't wait to see how it turns out!
Random: what non-crafty thing is on your wish list this year? Hmm...non-crafty thing? I'd love a sauerkraut making crock. It's a DIY thing but not really crafty so it counts, right?

Little guy needed a new sleep sack for the cooler weather. They seemed easy enough to make, so I sewed one up for him using some fleece I got on freecycle. Turned out pretty well. I just need to make one more for him and we'll be set for the winter!
My mom taught me when I was young. I made a scarf and that was it. Then I decided to pick it back up and she helped me re-learn the basics. When she isn't around, youtube is my friend. I'm still a beginner but getting more confident with every project. I just finished my second hat in the round and it turned out great! Knitting has been a huge test in patience for me, which is a good thing.
Thanks everyone! I had fun making it (minus the fluff that was all over my craft space...) and the little guy eventually gave in and stopped trying to take it off.
adhdfashion- That's probably because I used links from facebook to put the pictures up. I wonder why others can see them, though. Strange.

Here is the leopard/tiger costume I made for DS. I wanted to make him a tiger costume, but they only had leopard print fur pile at Jo-Anns. Once I bought the fur and took it home, a friend pointed out to me that there are parts that look like tiger print and parts that look like leopard print. So, he's a confused wild cat :-P
(I also made him the Jack-O-Lantern bag he's holding. He's been using it to carry his toys around the house. He loves it...I think he needs a non-Halloween-themed bag now).

Awesome! Those onesies really did turn out well. At my shower, there were onesies to decorate with puffy paint. They did not turn out very well and didn't end up being used much. This looks like a really fun idea! I also much prefer decorating onesies at a shower than playing games.
What is your craft of choice? I sew, and am learning how to knit.
What is your favorite color? Gray. I wear gray daily, and love splashes of color with it.
Do you have any kids or pets? One little man who is almost 16 months, and five 3-week old baby chicks.
Do you collect anything or have a favorite sports team? No collections, really. DH is an avid Giant's and 49ers fan, but I'm not really into sports myself.
Describe your Holiday decorating scheme (over-the-top, kid-friendly, retro, glitter-filled, whatever) The tree is eclectic. Everything else is pretty simple. White lights, pine cones, holly.
Favorite Holiday memory? Reading The Grinch Stole Christmas on my grandfather's lap on Christmas Eve. He passed a few years ago, but my grandma gave my son a copy of the book for his first Christmas. Hopefully my dad will carry on the tradition.

Thank you for the ideas, ladies. I think I'm going to go with the handkerchiefs, but I'll tuck your ideas away for later. Sorry for the delayed response. It's been a busy couple days with hubby out of town.

So my dad's 60th is coming up in about a month. I'm at a loss for what to get him. He's a "has it all" kind of guy and is not sentimental (i.e. would not really appreciate a framed picture type of gift). He has plenty of money, and well, I'm a SAHM. So anything that he would really like/need, would be something in the price range of an iPhone 5, which is
I usually get him a book because he's constantly reading and learning about anything and everything, but I feel like that's not quite special enough for a 60th birthday. He's also a cyclist, but I feel like I've exhausted the potential cycling gifts.
I've been kicking around the idea of making him some handkerchiefs because he still uses them. I haven't embroidered in years, so it might be a total fail, but I could embroider his initials on them. Is that weird, though? Giving him something he's going to blow his nose in as a 60th birthday gift?
