I feel so spoiled by the amazing ornaments that zookeepersuzy sent me! And...I feel bad because she originally made me a chicken ornament (in honor of our new backyard flock) and then I went and made the exact same ornament and posted it on my blog. So she had to start at square one. Oops. I absolutely love the cute mouse she made, though!
And here is my little guy giving the mouse a kiss. He already loves it too.
Thank you for the amazing ornaments!! I literally gasped when I saw the mouse. That's how adorable it is. I love love the colors too with the blue ears and yellow cheese around it. So creative! The heart is adorable too, and in my favorite color
I'm sorry I made the chicken ornament you originally made! I should have considered that I told you about our new chickens before making it. Oops...Hopefully you have a friend who likes chickens? Or maybe you do?
Thank you so much! The ornaments are really really awesome.
I did it and it looks much better! Phew...glad DS will be able to wear his longies out without looking like he's going to an 80s party. I'll post comparison pictures later.
I was sure you'd know the answer cmeon. I almost just paged you.
Thanks. I think I will try again. I purposefully felted it before dyeing it, so now I just have to make sure it doesn't felt too much more so that I don't end up short on fabric for the longies.
My other option is to keep it the way it is. I pulled the fabric out again today and it's not as terrible as I initially thought. Hmmm...
Has anyone dyed wool, hated the color and tried to dye it again with a similar but darker color?
I got some wool interlock to make DS some longies. I used Brilliant Kelly Green, thinking it would be bright and pretty but it turned out to be just bright. Like neon.
He's mostly going to sleep in the longies, so it's not a huge deal if I can't re-dye it, but I'm thinking about trying to re-dye the wool with Emerald green before making the longies. Has anyone done this? Any words of advice?

It's okay! You have to cut yourself slack somewhere. There are SO many things going on for you right now. I hope you find something nice tomorrow, and then when you get more settled and find your sewing stuff, you can attack the other windows one at a time!

I knitted up this Santa hat for DS the other night. I couldn't find a pattern I loved, so I made it up as I went along and wrote down what I was doing in case it turned out well. I posted the pattern in my blog in case you have a toddler in your life who needs a Santa hat

Also, shortcake, I have to thank you because I saw your post about getting Oliver + S patterns with the Amex promotion when I was lurking over on MMM. I hadn't even considered an online store applying to the promotion. I used my Amex to buy yarn at my LYS and DH's card for patterns. ;D Isn't he sweet?

Oh that trench coat! I will get it someday. It's adorable.
Their dresses are SO cute. I really don't care if the next baby we have is a boy or a girl EXCEPT when it comes to crafting. I hope I have a girl for the cute clothes-making opportunities.

You're right. I can even copy a long-sleeve shirt of his for the raglan tee. The cargo pants look more complicated, but he doesn't have an immediate need for them anyway. My husband voted PJs too, so I think that's what I'll do. ITA, I hate polyester PJs. He usually just wears a long-sleeve t-shirt and longies to bed nowadays, but cute PJs would also be great.

Anyone on here?
I'm ordering 2 patterns from Oliver + S tonight because they're running a promotion for small business saturday. I'm already set on this one: oliverands.com/paper/OLV-OS018SK.html
I didn't know that I was supposed to divulge my SN in the package until I read a post about it a few days ago. So, here I am. Divulging.
I'm so glad it came and that it brightened your day! I was nervous that customs was going to wonder was "Reeses Peanut Butter Cups" were and open up the package to toss them.
Sorry you were feeling down about Thanksgiving. Did you (or will you) celebrate with your husband and friends over there?

Okay so I'm pretty sure that I figured out my "mistake" was just that I was looking at the wrong side of the hat. Whoops. The hat, now finished and turned over looks just fine where I started my decreases. *sigh* I wasted time undoing it and starting over but I learned something!
(Once again, the pictures turned sideways and I have no idea why. Photobucket isn't working at all and I had to use tinypic, but that's a whole other issue).
Here is the finished hat:
Close up of where the "line" was, but on the right side:
Close up of the line on the wrong side:
If you're wondering what the heck I'm talking about, see my plea for help below.

Okay so I undid my work until just before the decreases. Now I've done one needle on the first row. The crosses are showing up again and I swear I'm knitting the knits and purling together the purls. But, I noticed it's not on the inside, which I guess is the right side. Is it possible that this line is just inevitable on the wrong side of the fabric? I didn't even check earlier when the hat was almost done, and now I feel dumb. I thought that ribbing didn't have a wrong side, but maybe with decreases it does? Could that be the answer?
If so, I'm taking it as a case of "learning something new with every project."

It's on round 1. I think I'm going to undo it and start the decreases over tonight just to see what's up. You might be right charlatti. I'll be sure to report back. Thanks for helping!
OH NO!!! That cute plaid one you were working on? :-( The new coat is very cute too but that seriously sucks. I agree with PP. Good job getting back on the horse so quickly!
do you have a link to the pattern? It looks like you are trying to decrease a knit stitch with a p2tog. Does the right side of the picture have k2, p2 ribbing? If so, you should be p2tog across the 2 purl stitches, while keeping the k2 in pattern.
I don't have a link, but the pattern was basically this:
For the hat part: knit 2, purl 2 (24 sts per dpn, 72 total) ...repeat until you get to 10 inches.
Then to shape the crown: Row 1: knit 2, purl 2 tog Row 2: Knit 2, purl 1 Row 3: Knit 2, purl 1 (again) Row 4: Knit 2, purl 1 (again) Row 5: Knit 2 tog, purl 1 Row 6: Knit 1, purl 1 Row 7: A knit and a purl tog Row 8: Knit a row around Row 9: Knit 2 tog; repeat to end (and you're left with 9 sts)
It makes sense, and I'm fairly sure that I did it according to the pattern. Is there a special way to purl 2 tog? It seems like it would be fairly straight forward.
I'm not positive, but it looks like you might be off by a stitch. If the p2togs were over one (or two?) more, they'd be lined up with the purls instead of being half on the knit columns. That's my best guess -- hopefully a more experienced knitter will be able to say for sure.
Hmm...I really don't think I was off. I was pretty careful, and there was nothing wonky about the decreases numbers-wise. Everything went right according to the pattern. This is the second time I've gotten this line when making a ribbed hat, too.
I've heard about and used k2tog from the back, and thought maybe there's an equivalent for p2tog, but I'm not sure what that would look like, or even what to search for on the internet. Newbie much?
I am working on mine this week. I am so nervous that she may not like it and think it is cheesy, but I think this every year and they always seem to like it. All of you gals are great crafters and I get so nervous.
I can't wait to see what everyone makes
I always have anxiety about this too, so I hope my ornaments are up to snuff!
Yup, me too. There are some very talented ladies on here, so I also get nervous! See, you're not alone!
I apologize for the sideways picture. I took it and uploaded from my iPhone, not sure what went wrong. Anyway, can you see that line right where I started my decreases? That row was knit 2, purl 2 tog, and it looks like every purl 2 tog got crossed, but I'm not sure why. Can anyone tell just by looking what I did wrong? I'm sure it's a rookie mistake, but I'm, well, a rookie.
