I just think you need some more things in pairs, more things centered. Everything on that red wall is all lined up....but nothing is centered on the wall or centered under the artwork. Know what I mean? I'd love to see those black chairs alone on that wall, with just one item in between them.
I don't think I would do the whole room hot pink. That's a lot of "Wow" and kids rooms are already pretty "OMG WHERE DO I LOOK" with all the colorful toys and crap they have.
Maybe a soft pink, with some bright pink accents? I really like the furniture you picked. Do you want them to have identical bedding, or different but co-ordinating? I could see it being really cute if they both had different quilts, but both were the same colors overall.
Maybe like..
Personally I am not a fan of wall decals. What about getting some cheap frames from Ikea and doing some bright graphic prints?
K then, I would put the white end tables on either side of the love seat. I like symmetry, so sue me. And I would put the tv in between the two black chairs.
Yes I took a birthing class. They covered the signs of labor, what to expect in each stage. Did the breathing techniques and made us practice positions for labor, like squatting holding a chair, using a ball, laying down, etc. They also covered breastfeeding basics, how to care for the cord and how often to feed, etc.
honestly it was great to have some tips on what to expect for when the baby came. How to clean a penis, how to care for the cord, how many wet diapers are normal, etc...
The labour stuff I did not use at all. For me, I found that my body naturally knew what it wanted to do. They said once you go into transition to start the really fast "hee hee hoo" breathing. Bullshit. For me, it helped to breathe long deep slow breaths the entire time....I would close my eyes and focus on breathing as slow as a possibly could and try to have the contraction end before I got to 10 breaths.
I also spent most of my labor in the tub. It was a huge pain reliever...I never used any weird positons, massage, or anything. I had a labour playlist on my ipod and didn't touch it. In the moment you know what you want...you will just know if you want to rock back and forth, or sit on the toilet, or whatever. you don't need a class to teach that.
I think you can't really prepare for an experience like that. I was expecting to be a bawling mess screaming for drugs...in actuality I went like into a trance state...totally silent, eyes closed, gripping someone's hand and laying in the tub.
If you want to take a birthing class, I think it's a good idea and you will get some good tips and info. But you would also do just fine without! You can plan all you want for how you think it will go, and then when you are actually in labor you may want the exact opposite!
And ---it was the worst pain I have felt. It was about on par with some other horrible pain I have had - gallbladder attacks and dislocating my knee. But I handled it. And it went quickly, and when it was over the first thing I said was 'That was it? I could do that again!"...I WAY over dramatized it and the idea of labor was so scary and I made it to be way worse than it actually was. Barring any complications, or horrible back labor or something like that....you can totally do it and it will probably be 10 times easier than what you have worked it up to be in your mind.
You need something way bigger...longer to fill the wall. Do you want one piece or more than one? I'd probably stay away from doing a group of 3, since you have the 3 stained glass mirrors on the opposite side of the room.
Love the leather ottoman so much! Can the tv move to the center of the wall, in between the black chairs? That would look nice there if the cords will go that far.
Also, the one thing that sticks out to me is your white coffee tables are too tall.....are you opposed to cutting the legs down a little? Or selling them on craigslist and getting shorter ones? Just a thought..
My policy ( I have a daycare) is fever free, and blisters are scabbed over. They will still have marks/scabs for a while...but as long as they aren't open, and the fever is gone they are not contagious.
I am starting to get nervous....my doctor said that if things go like my last labour, I can expect to have a 5 or 6 hour labour quite likely. Eek! I really hope I don't go into labour while home alone with 8 kids..although I have a plan in place for it just in case.
Just got on the scale obsessively again, and I have dropped a pound in the last hour....but an hour ago I was weighing naked, and now I have clothes on. WTF
And my scale is not out. It works for DH, and it works every other day perfectly.
Last time, I gained 8 pounds in about 3 days. I figured it was water weight from eating out, and sure enough, 5 pounds of it came back off a few days later. I have stayed steady at the same weight for 3 weeks. Yesterday I weighed myself. Still the same.
This morning I weigh myself, I am up 5 pounds again! ARGHHHHHH and I have a dr appointment today.
WTF. Every time I go to the doctor, I randomly gain a ton of weight overnight and then lose it days later.
As long as it's not spicy or has chunks of "green stuff" in it, kids should generally eat anything. And if there is a super picky eater there, too bad for them. My kid is picky and she can starve if she won't eat what's for supper. won't kill her.
Chicken spaghetti sounds fine. And yes, kids can eat soup. ;D
My husband took a full truck load of stuff to the dump the other day. some of it was boxes, but a lot of it was garbage I have cleared out of the house. There were also a couple of bags for the thrift store, and I have 2 more bags of toys and books that I will be donating to our church nursery.
And I still have a lot of spots to do! Our kitchen, the baby's closet, the car, my purse, and DD's closet.
Yeah my thrift stores are full of them too. The majority are not real silver, but there are often real ones too. They charge a lot for them....real ones are probably $10-15 a piece. I'd probably do a mix of real silver and cheap ones that are fake---that way you'd get some nice tarnished patina, and some would stay shiny so it doesn't get too "Shabby" looking.
What network is this on, cause everyone in my life talks about this show too and I have never seen it on tv. I searched tonight's lineup and nothing...and we have like 300 channels.
Yeah um.....I have never posted anything about pee or poo/potty training. MAYBE I have made a comment on FB about finally being done with diapers or something, but not anything more.
That's gross. And not only am I a mom, I have helped to potty train and in some cases single handedly potty trained over a dozen kids. Probably closer to 20. Never felt the need to talk about/share any of those details except with the child's mom...
I don't find much on Craigslist. I have way better luck with garage sales and our local Facebook swap/sale site.
I have scored some big deals at yard sales....I have a beautiful bookshelf that is painted the perfect shade of blue and all distressed - brand new! The lady bought it at a fundraiser/auction and never used it so I scored it for $60. Got a kitchen table I need to refinish for $75 off Facebook, as well as a 4 foot round coffee table for $40. This summer I got an antique single headboard with matching beautiful carved feet for $20.
I agree, the mirrors look like a pair of eyes to me. I would get rid of them, or hang them on either side of the bed over the nightstand. Do you have a small table you could put on the other side of the bed? You need to have a pair of nightstands. The mirrors hung above would give some symmetry.
I'd get rid of the tall dresser completely...put the chair in that corner where the dresser is and add a little side table. Put the tall black lamp behind the chair...add a throw and a pillow to dress it up and make a nice reading area.
Is your H opposed to curtains that are just for looks...just a pair of drapes hung that you never actually close, and that don't cover any of the window?? Cause that would finish off the room...your windows is nekkid.
The white protective stuff...is probably the pipe. It's called pex I think. Like pp said, drain the water in the pipes by turnign on the taps and then leave it to the pros.
Maybe next time you hire a handyman to install your shower rods! ;D
Pitter, have you tried taking pictures of yourself??
I had some jeans I thought looked great. then i saw a photo of me wearing them....they are saggy and baggy and look awful. I never knew...when I look in the mirror I think they look great! Photos never lie.
