Your first trip to Minneapolis really should be in the summer or early fall because of how gorgeous it is here at that time. We shall wait. Not patiently. But we will wait. Moe
This is going to sound INSANE but Bentonville, Arkansas. World-class art museum, fantastic restaurants, cute town square probably teeming with Pokemon.
I'm going to be there over Labor Day weekend, and I'm stupidly excited. My H, his brother and their dad are going to the LA Tech/Arkansas game, so his mother, my SIL, his aunt, and I are going to a cheese making class, and then we'll all go to museums on some other days.
I'm not suggesting Chicago since I can read, but H and I were eating outside downtown and I promised DS I'd look for Pokemon and I caught two just sitting at my table.
I stopped playing after a minute, but there's Pokemon EVERYWHERE here! I totally thought of you.
Hahahaha. I'm so excited for our short trip soon.
It will be just me and the husband attempting to rekindle love and having a spectacular celebration of our mediocre marriage!
That probably sounds a bit terrible, but I'm actually genuinely excited because he got us reservations at my dream restaurant.
If this means you are going to Alinea, I expect pictures and a full review.

Columbus, Ohio
Great foodie scene, specifically - Northstar Cafe, North Market, Jeni's Ice cream is from here, most anywhere in the Short North District, Grandview, or German Village
Really cool zoo (could spend 2 days there, seriously!) - is connected to a water park if you go in the summer. Can rent cabanas so you have somewhere to chill.
Beautiful parks: Franklin Park Conservatory, Whetstone Park of Roses
Scioto Mile - gorgeous riverwalk with fountains, restaurants, parks, etc.
Columbus Clippers - AAA baseball team (give it a chance) with a beautiful stadium right downtown in the new Arena district
Easy to navigate, traffic isn't crazy, prices are relatively cheap

Eat at the Hive and Tusk and Trotter!
A girl can dream. My IL'S are staunchly chili's, Olive Garden, and Cracker Barrel people. It's a trial, my H and I really push them out of their comfort zones when they visit. I was pleasantly shocked when my MIL suggested the cheese making class.
ETA: Just read menus. OMG, I'm going to try to be sneakily persuasive. Which one should I set my sights on?
I've only been to North Carolina once in my life for a wedding (near Duke).
I don't remember much, but, man, that was a good weekend of eating.
exactly! I'm in XXXX. Best food around for miles. :-)
Ok, so you'll understand this.
I drove for 12 FUCKING HOURS in one day on my way to vacation, and my goal stopping place for the night was that city, because I used to live there, right by Nantucket Grill near the mall, and it was the best food ever. I mean, their Seafood Ravioli alone was worth the drive, and their cake. Right? THE CAKE.
So I drive the entire day, looking forward to Nantucket Grill, and I pull up and it's closed. CLOSED. Because of a power outage in their building. I nearly sat down and cried. I went to their other location, and it wasn't the same.

That's all I've got.
Carry on.
this is the saddest story ever. Dude. That place is really good though. If I could keep my ass out of there and Dulce, I'd be a lot better off.
Did anyone say Pittsburgh yet? Cause PITTSBURGH! amazing food and also meeee!
I want you to come to Philly.
Ok I'll do it!! DH and I have to cancel our San Diego trip for our FET this month, so I think we'll take a few weekends away instead. Philly should be on that list!
