Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA), one of the last remaining Democrats who describes himself as “pro-life,” announced Tuesday that he intends to vote for the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would enshrine abortion rights in federal law.
I didn't really think he would't, despite his personal beliefs, but I'm so glad he finally made the statement.
Me and my other CFBC friends have been discussing this. We’re all seriously considering it at this point because we have the same fears about permanent birth control (birth control in general) being restricted in the future.
I did this last fall and I have no regrets. It was a fairly easy surgery/recovery and definitely worth it IMO, especially now. I was having surgery to take care of a suspicious ovary (that ended up being nothing) so asked them to just take my tubes too. So it wasn't a part of a c-section or anything. I have a few smallish scars but other than that was fully recovered within less than a month.
My second kid was born via planned c-section due to some health stuff that popped up in between the two, and I decided (well ahead of delivery) to have a tubal. I'm now even more glad I did. I had no problems and healed really quickly from my c-section so can't imagine it prolonged the recovery.
From the memo: “Elected officials, not unelected judges, should reflect the consensus of the people.” Sure, and the overwhelming consensus of the people is that Roe should not be overturned.
”One of the greatest and most unique things about America is the way we strive to take care of the least of these, the way we value defense of the defenseless, the desire to protect the weakest members of our society – the sick, the poor, and the elderly.” Republicans really want to go on record as this being something they strive for? Because I’m pretty sure their platform is the exact opposite.
They also refer to Democrats as science deniers, which is quite funny coming from the party that thinks COVID and climate change are hoaxes.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
All I can think of when I see this topic is where do these idiot politicians and judges plan to go when one of their own family members needs this medical procedure? Canada? Mexico?
I just said this exact thing to someone yesterday. Blech Kavanaugh has teenage girls for Pete's sake. Why do I care more about their rights than their father does?

McConnell made a statement yesterday that was right along these lines, and I heard a guy today say something to the effect of "democrats want to force their abortion agenda on America'. Um... huh?
They've learned that if they just speak the words, their followers simply believe them. Their followers don't research, they don't think critically. It's stunning to me.
This is just so on point for her. Collins calls police because of an abortion-rights chalk message outside her home.
This is so interesting to me. The police came and said no crime had been committed. But the capitol police in DC wanted to know if anyone was threatening her, because she has received actual death threats, and... I guess chalk is threatening?
There was a case in Bangor a couple years ago where one guy was chalking hate speech against gay people on a downtown sidewalk, and another guy got out a hose and washed it away. The police arrested the person who washed away the chalk (saying he interfered with the other guy's right to free speech). Yet the police themselves, or some city worker, washed away the non-threatening message on the sidewalk in front of Collins's house.
I feel like the whole town of Bangor should have taken better notes in their high school civics class.

Yeah, he'll posture and vote "pro-life" when it doesn't matter (like when he's in the minority of something that will pass without a fight, or the overwhelming majority), but I didn't think he'd fight it when it actually mattered.

I would pay real, actual American money to hear either the phone call she made to the police “Haaalp! Some fanatic drew a chalk uterus on my sidewalk!” or the face-to-face convo she had with the police when they came to “investigate.” “Yes, ma’am. We’re putting our best dicks on it.”
And I am INCENSED that a city employee was sent to wash it off. She doesn’t have her own fucking garden hose? Which my vast experience with sidewalk chalk indicates it’s usually water soluable.

The Bangor story was interesting - it’s referenced in this article. I guess I can see how they’d want to be in the loop on anything…but this was chalk and clearly not threatening.

Duh. They can't get pregnant. And no one is going to try to rape them (like he did to Ford).

There was a case in a neighboring small city to mine where the police washed away some teenagers BLM chalk art in summer 2020. Apparently it was making white people feel threatened for their lives. We are on the red side of WA state so it's not surprising.
Is it well known that mifepristone is used in other countries to treat fibroids, endometriosis, and other conditions that the FDA won't authorize it to be used for? Instead we make women suffer, take hormonal medication, or undergo surgery? Abortion is mother fucking healthcare!

Fwiw the 300mg dose (the dose for abortions is 200mg) is used to treat Cushing’s disease and fda approved. Also off label use in ovarian cancer treatment.
The REMS really is the problem in regards to more clinicians being able to access it. We were hopeful that the REMS changes they made late last year were going to be completely eliminated, but they only made it easier to mail mife and unfortunately access to mife will still be a huge barrier. I think if and when REMS completely falls then more of us will have access to mife for off-label usage.
I thought I heard that Schumer was putting Women’s Health Protection Act to a vote tomorrow, but have been out of the loop. Is this still the plan?
Yes, vote is supposed to happen today, possibly around 3pm.
I knew this wouldn't pass. Collins says she and Murkowski have a plain bill that would codify Roe. Manchin said he'd support codifying Roe. Why not put that to a vote?

Because they're full of shit and it's not a "plain bill to codify Roe."
Tim Kaine, our should have been vice president, says he continues to work with those mealy mouthed sell out assholes so maybe they'll come to something.

They have to. Ludicrous that they’ve been given a warning of something that will likely cause massive societal upheaval and are spinning in circles instead of kicking ass.
Honest to god question….but why is this man a democrat. He clearly is not one. I feel like he is a secret agent for the GOP. Taking a D seat and blocking everything they do.
