In less than 48 hrs, Kamala has raised 231 million, secured enough delegates to be the presumptive nominee and a ton of endorsements including with unions. I never in my dreams thought that the democratic party had this kind of efficiency in them.
I’m not finding that fundraising number - do you have a link w that info?

More than half those donations are from donors who were withholding funds because they were on the Biden is too old train.

I totally understand the skepticism of many. There was a lot of talk about who was behind Biden stepping down and how awful they were before he actually got out of the race. That will take time for many of the people who heard that message to come around. Many people are saying it’s undemocratic because they don’t know how primaries work or the history of them. They think their votes didn’t count. That’s OK. Hopefully there will be good messaging around these things from the media, social media creators, and people who understand how it works to help those who care to learn see that this isn’t a “coup.”
It’ll also take a little time to see how she campaigns and debunk the “she hasn’t done anything” nonsense. (There’s a great Pantsuit Politics podcast on her & I really like the piece from @iampoliticsgirl on her, too.) I really hope she attempts to run a semi-old school campaign on policies with less bashing of Trump. Everyone is fully aware of who he is and their opinions have already been decided. Nothing will change that. I would LOVE to see her campaign on why people should vote FOR HER and not just against Trump. She has a lot to offer!
I also think tight polls will be great for voter turnout, and that will benefit her far more than him.

The narrative and momentum have shifted and it’s OKAY to be optimistic!! Optimism and enthusiasm is just as contagious as the depression and existential dread we’ve all been spreading. FACTS
I didn’t read this particular article but I did see a similar about how she was polling behind in every swing state and my heart dropped. Once I actually dug into it, it was a sample of 800 people which hardly seems significant in states with millions of voters and the poll was taken before she actually entered the race.
I agree that we need to be careful and not get op cocky but with the type of enthusiasm I’m seeing I really do think we have a shot.
These are polls back when she was hypothetical. I'm going to be giddy and hopeful unless and until polls after this announcement have coalesced to the contrary. Let me live, woman!

Honestly after 2016 I don’t put much stock in the polls. How do they do these polls anyway? I get texts messages asking me to take polls but I worry it’s a scam so I never do it.

I don’t know about Cooper. I’m in a very red area of NC and he doesn’t excite me. He ignores our part of the state, which I get because there’s no chance he wins my area ever but I don’t know if he could flip NC.
I honestly don’t even care who it is. I hope between Kelly and Shapiro they are spending some time seeing who would be the better pick. I like the idea of Kelly as a military family because I do think there’s a big part of the military that doesn’t like Trump.
But obviously I’ll be excited to vote for whoever.

Right. No one ever calls this swing state voter to poll me 🤷♀️
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
An acquaintance posted a Harris/Sanders meme and my eye rolled so far out of my head that I fear I will never be able to see again. Yes, let's put the man older than Biden as the VP! That will work well for us both now and in 4 years.

Fuck Bernard. Part of the reason that we're here is because of him.

I’ve said this all along…I believe WE ARE READY for Kamala Harris to be President. We don’t need time, we need energy. And we’ve got it! A LOT of it! The short time frame, IMO, in this day and age with the super fast news cycle and short attention spans, will actually help her more than hurt, I think. (And I’d love to see this be the beginning of campaign reform to stop this nonsense of starting to campaign essentially the minute the first election is over.)
Democrats are sometimes our own worst enemy with not believing in our ability to get things done. I don’t believe any of this was really chaos. I think there have been plenty of people making plans behind the scene for months…long before the debate. We won’t find out until books are written down the road, but I believe there was always a backup plan if Biden wasn’t running for any reason. They would have been fools not to have had those conversations behind the scenes.
100%. I'm excited and I think we're ready for all of this. I think we can win it. Spread the excitement.
Also--Beyonce gave Kamala the rights to use her song Freedom. Beyonce, like Taylor Swift, never gives rights to songs. Let's get excited! Also--can't wait to hear the conspiracies from MAGA about the Dems and Beyonce while they dance to YMCA at their rallies. LOL

Trump voters are like the exact target market of scams. My dad is a Trump voter and he'd totally answer. LOL

I would walk over coals just to slap that man across the face.
I want to call you Debbie Downer, but you're really just being Reality Rachel.
Thanks for that. I was sooooo giddy on November 11/7/16. I couldn't have been less prepared for 11/8/16.
This year I want to be intentional and optimistic, but not have blinders on.
And I scheduled PTO for the day after election day, because I can't go into work with a brave face if Trump wins again. I have a trumper on my team. She is excellent in what she does, but in 2016 she showed up to work like a fucking American Flag flight attendant. My nonverbal response to her giddiness stopped her in her tracks. I gave her a weak smile and a good morning and went on about my business, but she was noticeably nervous around me after that like i was going to fire her for her politics. I might have wanted to, but I do the right thing even if i hate it.
And this year i have another person who may be politically conservative - i just don't know because she does NOT talk politics at ALL. And she is the best manager I've had report to me, so if Harris wins, I don't want to come in gloating and have the same effect on her or anyone else.
All that said, I wore my AKA colors yesterday as a subtle nod to KH. My AKA colleagues noticed, and there were little smirks.
