I was opposed to Biden dropping out and don’t love how it was handled in the media or so back-stabbing publicly by the party the past few weeks. Now that it’s happened, I’ve come to the realization it was due to fear and anxiety that D’s would fumble the opportunity. Either they would spend more weeks fighting about candidates or this would be an inter-party coup by rich old white men of the party to get both Biden and Harris out. We’ve all known or been that woman who was logically next in line for a promotion and got screwed out of it by men. I also don’t think anyone else could win this late in the election cycle if all that happened. With so much immediate voter and donor support of Harris, they won’t have the chance.
We’ve voted for a black president in high numbers before and the majority of Americans voted for a woman but she didn’t win the electoral college. That was 8 years ago and millions of boomers have passed away since then and millions more Genz are of voting age now. GenZ is statistically voting Dem and way more liberal than Boomers. There’s going to be so much racism and misogyny by the media and the opposition, that will be repeated by voters, but we are not the party of racism and misogyny, Rs are.
If you need hope, search the Divine 9 and Kamala on social media. They were a voting force for her in 2020 and she was the keynote speaker at the AKA conference in Dallas a few days ago. We can thank them for mobilizing immediately and the Sunday zoom call that originally had a limit of 1000 people. They got the CEO of Zoom to increase it so 40,000 black women could join for hours to strategize and donate for VP Harris, which created a wave of momentum.
I ordered a Madam President baseball hat. I’m so excited lol
I posted on ML that I bought a Keep Kamala and Carry On shirt and a Make America Laugh Again baseball cap (get it?) (Ka) MALA.
Love this! I need to dig out my 2020 Kamala Christmas sweatshirt, but it’s like 90 degrees this week. It says Deck the Halls with Smart, Strong Women, Kama-La-La-La-La-La-La-La 🎶

This is exactly where I am at as well. The fact that we appear to have avoided eating our own is a pleasant but rather big surprise.
I'm still just cautiously optimistic rather than confident but only because people suck and not for any concerns about Harris herself.
BUT WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER 10 OF THE OCEANS ELEVEN?!?!?! I want to know what they think too!!! I simply CANNOT head to the polls without this crucial information.

I would actually like to hear from Elliott Gould (about anything, always).
that said, I wore my AKA colors yesterday as a subtle nod to KH. My AKA colleagues noticed, and there were little smirks.
Is it normal for non-sorority members to wear sorority colors like that? I wasn’t in one, but I didn’t think that was a thing. Are we gonna have a bunch of white women parading around in pink and green now?
Because there was some concerns about polling (don’t remember if it was this thread or the other one), Reuters is now showing Harris polling ahead of Trump.

I've been worried about Harris's polling, but there was a segment on NPR last night (Today, Explained) with a strategist talking about another case where the VP came into the race late (Hubert Humphrey) starting 20 point behind and closing the gap to 1 point by election day. That made me feel really good about Harris's current polling numbers. Good today isn't election day, but unlike Biden, she's actually been running for president now for what? 2 days? Surely her polling will improve once she's actually had some time to campaign.
I have kept X thus far because there are some fantastic weather accounts there that give quick and accurate up to date info during our numerous weather catastrophes. However it is a freaking cesspool right now. Like really really bad. Really great that an asshole billionaire has complete control over a popular app and can control all info seen.

If you're not on Threads yet, I'd highly recommend moving over there. It's basically how Twitter used to be IMO. I also use Spoutible, which was created by Christopher Bouzy and it's great as well. It's different and kind of hard to get used to, but it's got great information and good people on there.

Lol. The PAC's argument is a solid one. "We voted for Haley b/c we didn't want trump. Now we'll vote for Harris." (paraphrased) How is this any different than the never trumpers?
