Finished a new every-day bag. A littler smaller than I really wanted, but probably plenty of space. There are a ton of pockets. Vinyl and Quilting cotton on the exterior, waterproof canvas on the interior.
Recently being the past few years. We have one TV in our house, and it's 16+ years old and on it's way out. Since we don't have a back up I want to replace it sooner rather than later. Anyone have recommendations? Our current TV is only 32", we will be going MAX 55", we just don't need a big TV, but if you bought a big one and like it I'll take the recommendation anyway and look up the smaller models. Most of our viewing is through streaming services, not cable or live TV. Also where did you purchase from? Last time we just walked into Best Buy, but we're not doing that this time. Thanks!
I'm working my way through the Dresden series by Jim Butcher. After Covid started, I literally didn't read a book for a year. Considering I used to read at least 2 a week, this was completely out of character for me. (As an aside, I think that when I told my mom that I hadn't read a book in a year is when she really "got" how seriously my mental health has been suffering this year.) I finally decided to work through this series on the recommendation of my friends and oh boy am I glad I did.
Tradition in our family is that her person who's birthday it is gets to choose everything in their birthday dinner. Well this year my birthday dinner happens to coincide with my brothers only night in town in a year and a half, since before lockdowns started. His being here is more coincidental than anything as he passes through to see his friends for their annual 4th of July get together (which is a separate rant but ultimately none of my business). My dad just decided that he's making my brother's favorite meat because it's easy, and he's refusing to make anything that requires work the day of, other than grilling the steak. He was going to make three make-ahead sides, two of which I can't stand and neither I, my husband, or either of my kids will eat them. The third side I love but has peanuts, which my youngest is allergic to. My mom at least asked if that would be ok to still have, but H and I weren't willing to risk it. So now I"m making my own slaw (which I love and offered to do), my dad is making his two sides (which my family won't eat), my mom is going to make plain rice for the kids. It's totally not a hill worth dying over but it's been a week since this was all first discussed and I'm still bothered by it. And then my dad tried to tell me my choice of birthday dessert wasn't acceptable because it's not cake. I chose creme brulee because it's my favorite, I ask for it every year, yet somehow nobody seems to remember that. SO there it is, tomorrow I get to have a birthday dinner that I didn't really choose and at least a third of the things served are things I'm not going to eat. (I may delete this because I feel like it's such a petty rant to be having)
icedcoffee, it may be a bit too far for you (Columbia, MD) but I LOVE A's allergist. It's coincidentally the same allergist our day care provider went to for 5 years of allergy shots, which have completely cleared up her issues.
I do agree an allergist would probably be worth it. Depending on what you're allergic to, you may be able to eliminate your allergy with allergy shots (it's a huge time commitment, fyi).
Also vote Xyzal for OTC treatment. I was on it when it was prescription only and it was amazing. I stopped taking it when I got pregnant, but just as I was thinking about going to the doc for a new script for it, it was released OTC and I've been using it ever since. Some times I do need it every day, but sometimes I can get away with taking it every other day. It works so much better than anything else I've tried. Do know that for some people it can make you drowsy, and you should take it at night until you know if it will do that to you. I don't have an issue and take it in themorning.
Mostly. I went to Target last week and did not wear a mask. It felt really weird. I'm still wearing it to the grocery store, the little farm market, etc. We go to exactly three homes, my neighbors, my parents and my kids daycare, we don't mask at any of them as all adults and 12+ are fully vaccinated. I'm debating if I am ready to return to the gym. I'd like to, but not fully sure I want to be unmasked there yet, it's a massive building and usually fairly full.
oregonpachey, hot damn I want yarn. I don't think Ive bought yarn in two years or so.
I am starting a soap shop and I specifically chose not to go with Etsy, since it's much the same, really saturated with sellers. I'm counting on more word of mouth/FB ads, etc. (shop isn't open yet, I sure as shit better be able to open by July 1st or I'm going to be really upset, not to mention in a bad spot financially)
Nope. I'd suggest picking one and if its the zoo, dont plan on anyone having the energy for anything afterwards. It's hot and humid in the summer, all you'll want is a shower and a nap after just a few hours. Keep in mind, too, that the zoo is built on a massive hill. If you're taking the metro, youre arriving and leaving at the top of the hill. If youre driving, try to get there really early and park at the bottom of the hill. It's much easier to walk down at the end of the day than back up to the metro stop.
I feel like I’m the only one in here this month. Everyone else must be gardening!
This is my 5th and most successful bra to date from the past month. It’s a Cloth Habit Watson bra done up with cut and sew foam. It doesn’t have an underwire but offers really good structure and support.
I still need to work on my elastic application (I have some gaping under my armpits) but I’m really proud of the finish on this. I have made and taken apart two of the same pattern trying to work out sizing. @@@ I’m 6 months post breastfeeding so my breast tissue is still really soft and I’ve been having a terrible time without access to stores finding RTW bras. I’m quite pleased that I have mostly figured this out. And it’s comfy!
Not gardening, at a really low point mental health wise. Good and bad, I quit my toxic job, so that anxiety source is gone, but now replaced with "I'm not empolyed and have no paycheck coming in" anxiety. If you don't mind me asking, what size bra is this/do you wear? I need some new bras, would rather make than buy, but I'm leery of how well some of these patterns will fit. I looked it up and this pattern calls for knit fabric but you used foam instead? Did you have to make any adjustments to the pattern?
I am very grateful for this. I quit my job without another lined up, way ahead of my original plans and this is going to help keep us from sinking completely while I try yo get my next goal set up.
You could dive into the world of custom/preorder fabric groups on FB. But beware, it's a big rabbit hole, and most of the time you can be waiting up to 12 weeks or more for the fabric since most is printed to order in China.
If its going tobe long term, def find dry ice locally. Keep your things that can not freeze on the other side of the cooler from it though (milk, eggs, fruit etc). Barring that, ice in plastic tupperware, replace as it melts. Maybe have one cooler for ice to replenish twice a day, and one cooler for food with the plastic containers. And drain the melted water off as often as you can.
Less than a quarter tank, often when the light goes on. Does depend on if I am planning a lot of driving. I can go three weeks between filling if im just driving to and from work and errands in our town.
I stayed at The Maven for my brother's wedding. It was $$$$ but it was really convienent to downtown and enough close food options to not be limiting. I didnt have a car, so I cant speak to parking. (I had a friend pick me up and then ubered back to the airport.) Would absolutely stay there again given the chance.
The only reason I know other people with the same name exist is because of the internet, specifically facebook. One girl was going around friending every single person with the name she could find. There were maybe a few hundred in all of facebook, worldwide. So no, not common at all. Which I both love and hate. It's been noticeably easier in the recent years to have people pronounce it right on the first try.
I intentionally named both girls something that wasn't completely unheard of but not common either. Bethany is easy, but apparently Aurelia is not as unheard of as a name as I thought.
Slice up shallots, put on tray with some oil. bake at 425 for 7 minutes. Add sprouts that are halved or quartered (depending on size), stir together, salt, bake 7 minutes. Stir again, add some chopped garlic, bake another 7 minutes. remove from oven, drizzle with balsamic vinegar and serve.
I for YEARS said I wasnt interested in trying to make soap. It did not appeal to me at all even when I started playing around with lotions and chapstick and whatnot. I dont even remeber what prompted me to try it the fist time, but I did and I was HOOKED. It's been at least 6 years and I havent purchased a single bar of commercial soap because I have so much I've made. I decded that with my job sucking my soul from me it was time to start setting up a shop to sell with the goal of making enough to do it full time. (Still in the works, but these bars are all going up for sale when the time comes)
So. I think you should try it. BUT make sure you're really educated on lye safety and what can go wrong before you do.
Also, now I want to know what you're allergic to, but you don't have to share if you don't want to
And, fragerences are (in no particular order), Smell the Rainbow, espresso, anise/orange/mint, peppermint vanilla, juicy pear, leather, cherry vanilla. I think that's all the photos I put up.
I’m allergic to formaldehyde, which is a common component in water based preservatives. There are about 20 types of preservative which I am allergic to, such as Quaternium-15 and DMDM hydrantoin which are the most common.
I love those mala! I bet they smell great too. I really would love to make bar soap considering I am not allergic to it, so it would be handy to have around (I’m allergic to most liquid soaps). Hmmmmmm. So tempting to dive into a new project. I bet my DD would enjoy it as well.
I am an enabler, gonnna say that up front.
