In my experience, most middle schoolers are on Snapchat and a lot are on instagram. It seems like all of the girls friends started w social media around age 10-11. C is 13 and uses Snapchat. K is 11 and isn’t on any social media.

My kids are homeschooled but they are in an “independent study” program through the school district and they attend the gifted and talented class at the public school weekly. In that class they are encouraged to have devices when they are researching and studying and doing special projects. I don’t know what the overall rule on phones in the elementary and middle school is but it seems like most kids do have phones. My nephew is in high school where of course they all have phones. They aren’t supposed to use the phones in class unless it’s a special thing. I think there’s a 3 strike kind of rule with phones in class, on the third strike the school can confiscate the phone and put it in a safe for a week. Only with parent permission but a lot of parents allow it.

I’m sorry I don’t have advice, but what are your symptoms if you don’t mind my asking? I have 3 fibroids that I know of that are fairly large and I’m having all kinds of pain and issues and it’s driving me crazy.
Wtf is this stupid shit even?! Every person (or close to it, anyway) in that building was injured. All of them. The fuck hundreds more. Jesus Christ I can’t with this fuckwad.
Did anyone keep a list of all the boys they kissed in high school or was that just me?
Related, I burnt all my diaries a few years ago when I realized I could die in an accident and my family might read them. I highly recommend.
Yup, I had a list in my diary! Haha. I wish I knew where my diaries were. I have the one from when I was in junior high which is super comical, but I wish I had my high school diary.

Ugh I’m sorry. I had a bunch of years of low OCD (always intrusive thoughts but have had less compulsions) but lately they’ve been bad and I’ve been thinking of going back for CBT. I think you’ve spoken about it before and CBT helped, yeah? I would probably go talk to someone if it’s interfering with things (like sleep)
It's really odd looking at all of these. I was born in the 70's, but whenever possible, we were always seatbelted and we had car seats until we were about three or four. On Friday nights we did cram about 17 kids in our van (seatbelts for those who had a seat, the rest on the floor or in the back section) for a church program.
I did babysit a family with kids that were 4, 2, and 6 months when I'd just turned twelve. That shocked me, but hey, if they thought I was old enough, why not? I also rode my bike about a mile to school starting in fourth or fifth grade.
I moved out into the middle of nowhere in middle school and things were so different. Even in the mid-90's my neighbor bought his mom's cigarettes because they knew he didn't smoke. The restaurant where I waited tables still had a cigarette machine until about ten years ago, maybe even more recent than that. Kids would drive tractors by middle school and of course have their own guns for hunting in elementary school.
I swear I just recently came across a photo on Facebook that had tractors in the high school parking lot. The kids drive them to school. Not everyday, it was for something special. I was tilting my head thinking "huh. I guess kids thst age in the country know how to drive them."
Ha yeah, kids here start driving tractors at like 12/13

Love you, V. I've been thinking about you a lot this week. I can't believe you aren't going to be here anymore. It won't ever feel the same without your presence. You are loved, and you will be missed. I'm glad you are no longer suffering and heaven gained a beautiful, kind, loving angel. Thank you for being a friend to us all ❤️❤️❤️

I feel like mall stores and retail like Best Buy, etc. have always opened later around 10ish, but grocery stores tend to open around 8 if they aren't 24 hour stores. I think it's true that 10 just seemed early before we had kids

I think I gave them the "formal" information around 3rd grade and that's about when they read the American Girl "Care and Keeping of You" book, but they've always known women bleed monthly. I haven't been to the bathroom alone in 13 years. Bonnie knows probably more than her sisters did at her age (5.5) because she has teen/preteen sisters and obviously sees/hears about it more than they did

I'm so heartbroken to read this. I'm glad she's no longer in pain, but damn will she be missed. Veronica, we love you. Love and thoughts of comfort to your family. ❤️❤️❤️

Oh, hugs to you. I totally feel ya. Some days I am totally okay and others I'm a mess. I'm glad I was there helping while he was sick but I REALLY feel like it traumatized me pretty badly, too. My anxiety has gotten much worse and I have bad dreams a lot more often. The other day I had a dream that was just a normal day type dream, but he was still alive. When I woke up I was messed up for awhile. We haven't shut his phone off yet and sometimes I call just to hear his voice, which is nice. We cleaned out his closet and everything but for some reason we haven't moved his shoes from right next to his spot on the couch, which is kind of comforting to see. Grief is totally weird. ❤️❤️
We colored my daughter's hair with Kool-aid, too. We used the boiling water then dipping the ends of her hair in it for 30 minute. Pinterest said it washes out in about 10 washes. It doesn't. 4 months later my daughter's ends are still red. So just be aware, if you go with kool-aid, it may not come out. I was a bit worried because her school does not allow colored hair. Thankfully so far they haven't said anything about it but had I know how permanent it is I probably would have used something else for my 8 yr old. Thanks, Pinterest.
On the plus side, after a few washes it does not rub off onto anything.
Are you in my head? This is our exact experience down to my daughter being 8 years old. Not 4 months though. More like two. The first time we did it, it faded pretty quickly. I don't know if we boiled it too long or used too much koolaid the second time (we made a big batch of it to color three girls' hair).
Ha! We did the girls' hair with kool-aid in May and it hasn't come out yet. My stylist bff says it penetrates so deeply it's nearly impossible to remove from some hair types without just cutting it off.
As far as mess goes, Cambria's hair is still leaking red onto her white sheets 4 months later. Yay!
I used Manic Panic when I was a teen and it was never a problem. It washed out quickly but had good color. All colorful dyes are going to be a bit messy no matter what.
