I'm so sorry, that sounds really scary. I haven't been around much lately, I'm just reading about what has been going on with you. Just wanted you to know I'm thinking of you <3

I'm going to get Go, I think. I have so many on my TBR list right now, I'm not sure when I'll get to it! I'm doing both the Book Riot Read Harder and the Pop Sugar reading challenges so I have a bunch of stuff to get through.

Update: I called the doc and the nurse said to just keep an eye on it. If the fever spiked higher or if she had breathing difficulties go to er. Then I called a nurse friend and she said it sounded like the normal course of the flu and just to keep doing what I was doing. I last gave her fever meds at 10 pm last night. It’s been almost 12 hours and NO FEVER! Crossing fingers that it’s over.
I’ve read that if the fever returns, you should get them checked out. It might be a secondary infection.
Yeah, that's kind of what I was freaking out about. The fever hasn't ever been gone without fever meds, but it was lower weds/thurs. Like 99-100. Then back up to 102 this morning but went down as soon as I gave her meds. I will call her nurse.

Thanks for the reassurance, guys! I hate this! I have extreme health anxiety on a normal day, so things like this send it through the roof. I hope everyone else dealing with it is on the mend soon.

How in the hell long did it last? K (11) started symptoms Sunday, had her in the doc Monday AM. She was diagnosed with influenza b and started Tamiflu. Her fever has not yet been gone totally without meds, but it wasn't as high on Weds/Thurs and she was acting more like herself. This morning she woke up and it was back up to 102. Tell me not to freak out, all of the news stories have my anxiety through the roof.

There was never a recall and the source of outbreak was never identified. The outbreak only lasted a few weeks, as far as I know. From mid-November to mid-December. I don't think there is anything to worry about. I sell romaine for a living and our business was only affected for a few days, really.

C is almost 14 and has her own phone. She has pretty free reign as far as texting/FT with her friends. I have access to all of her messages, of course. I have her keep the phone in the living room at night because I don't want her to be up all night texting. I also don't wanting her texting her friends who go to traditional school during school hours. Her bff is also homeschooled and I don't mind if they text within reason during school hours, as long as her work is getting done.
K is 11 and doesn't have a phone yet, but will be getting one in a few weeks. She texts her bff quite a bit through my phone and uses it to FT with her cousins and grandparents.
B doesn't really message anyone yet. She texts/facetimes her dad or grandparents with my phone sometimes, but that's it. She's in kinder.
This wouldn't bother me at all. Lots of little kids are fascinated by stuff like this and why not expose them to some things like that while they're young enough to not be afraid or grossed out by it? They were obviously supervised, it's not like they gave them the octopus to take outside and bat around like a ball. I imagine they were vigilant about hand washing so I don't get the pearl clutching, personally.
ETA: I'm not a fan of animals in zoos or aquariums so I'd rather my kid see one that died naturally, honestly.
This place is so weird sometimes! When I first read the op I thought the post would go way differently than it has. I guess I'm an odd man out because it wouldn't bother me at all, either. Most little kids are super curious and love to explore things like this. I don't know, I'm a weird homeschool mom but we do stuff like this all the time.
Plus she refuses to childproof and gets annoyed when the kids pull out more than one toy at a time.
Wtf is that all about?! My mil has an effing teddy bear collection and she gets pissed when the grandkids touch them. Maybe don’t have teddy bears on every surface of your house if you don’t want toddlers to touch them.

This year is kind of different for us. My dad passed away in March, so that changed things up. We are just doing stockings and Santa at home and then everything else with my mom. I usually get them one Santa gift each, but we're doing a joint gift this year for them. 3 guinea pigs in a big homemade habitat. So they'll get their stockings and the guinea pigs from Santa and then we will go to my mom's for all of the other gifts.

Thinking of you today! Glad to read that the contractions have slowed, I hope they're able to get in there and do what they need to do. I hope you're able to get some rest, I know I would feel more at ease being in the hospital, too. Hugs.
Definitely money in the commissary account. And, mail throughout the year. I’m keeping up with a friend who’s currently incarcerated, and mail and researching his case are what keeps him busy.
Mail is a HUGE deal to them. My nephew has been in prison for over a year now and a few of us in the family write to him quite often and he always tells us in every letter back how happy he is to receive mail from us.
eta: money is also highly needed and wanted.
We will for sure write and depending on where he is (I’m not sure yet) we will visit. It’s a minimum security prison, so I’m sure visiting is fine
It looks like these are available only in certain states. It might be useful if your state is listed and also for sending things during the incarceration.
Cash. Prison is expensive. They are always catching people sneaking in goods to the prison not to far from me. I can't imagine that the prepaid cell phones, liquor, smokes, and protein powder they seem to always find by the truck load are cheap on the inside. Sorry this is a question you find yourself with.
Thanks, yeah we will definitely be giving him cash while he’s in there. Uhhh yeah it’s a strange situation for sure.

I really hate this school...it seems like the whole thing just sucks! I'm sorry. You're a great mom, you're not a failure at all. This shit is hard, man.
