How many ways are there to destroy a portrait?

At least my MIL was really an artist and the stuff she did for us was good. Do you have a spare bedroom you don't go in to much? You could hang it in there where you won't see it often. A hallway? could it then get knocked off and accidentally stepped on when it was tripped on while you chased the dog/cat/kid down the hall?

We live in a tiny townhouse. I do have a spare bedroom but my mom uses it sometimes. I don't want to give her nightmares. I know mil will ask about it. She wants a baby picture of me to paint a portrait from. So they can hang side by side.

That was a sweet gift, though, and probably took her a long time to paint. I'm not sure what I'd do with it!
