EllieArroway,y4m, can we get this vikings28 troll banned? Thanks!
Done. Also I think I may have accidentally deleted one of the threads instead of just their posts while trying to figure out how to do the spam cleanup from my phone. If anything is missing that's my fault - sorry!

My mom loves Biden but will vote for whoever is the D nominee. My MIL isn't a Democrat but would probably vote for Biden if it was Biden v Trump. Not sure if she'll go for any of the other Ds. Dad & FIL are lost causes.

We had more rain & tornadoes yesterday. The river is now at 45.15 ft, expected to crest at 45.5 on Saturday. The previous record was 44.1 set in 1943. It's normally around 20ft, to give you some indication of how insane this is.
It's been raining for 352 years. The Arkansas river is flooded worse than any time in recorded history and it hasn't even crested yet. And there are tornadoes everywhere.
Right now my area is fine - we are north of most of the floods and the severe storms seem to go around us. But my kids are with my mom who lives south of the river, and all of the bridges between there and here are closed. I'm supposed to go get them Friday but it looks like they may have to spend some extra time with Grandma.
Ellie, when is it forecasted to crest? I live in SEMO, and my daughter and I will be driving down to Little Rock in a few weeks. There are a lot of creeks and rivers to cross on the way down there...
My area is ok... I like to say we live in a "cone of protection" due to the terrain around our town. But along the Mississippi they are calling for 1993-level floods. It's going to be a long summer.
As of right now it is supposed to crest on Friday. That date keeps moving out.

Does anyone know if there is any place where I can create a single photo greeting card? I've only found places that sell them in packs of 20. I have two photos that I want to use to make two cards for specific people, so I need to make single photo cards!
Check out the app Ink. I have used it in the past to send single photo cards. Super easy!

My favorite thing about this episode is how much it has pissed off people who thought they had figured everything out. How have you not learned by now that it never goes as expected? Also love the people who are convinced that GRRM's version will be better. He's never going to finish writing the series and I think a big reason for that is because he has no idea how to wrap up all these threads that he has created over the years.

We made about $10k more last year and overall paid in just over $2k less than the year before. Which is ridiculous because we are not in a demographic that needed a tax break.
My BIL is in the military and his family had to pay in significantly more this year than last. Their total household income is less than half of ours but they're paying more in taxes and we are paying less. So stupid.
EllieArroway said in another thread that it's a ProBoards issue. It's something she's been able to turn off before, but that option isn't there anymore.
Ohhhhhh....
Proboards is working with Viglink to try to correct the issue. In the meantime you can opt yourself out of Viglink to make it stop inserting links by following the instructions in this thread: support.proboards.com/thread/654153/
I'm seeing random hyperlinks in other people's posts as well. One went to sidewalk chalk and another books about mortgages. Is proboards having an issue or something? 😂
I’m assuming it’s some sort of malware on proboards, and haven’t clicked the links for that reason. If it’s legit advertising it seems creepy and malware like so they should definitely change tactics.
I think it's something called Viglink. It has happened a few times in the past and there was an admin screen where I could go disable it (though it seemed to enable itself again after a while?) but now it looks like they changed up the admin area and I can't find an option to turn it off anymore.

Apparently our county forgot to count 900 votes in one precinct and found them after one of the Dems on the ballot noticed that the vote count looked low and raised the issue with the election commission.

The piece of shit who was running for a supposedly non-partisan seat on the state Supreme Court with ads that bragged about how much he is like Donald Trump lost handily to a woman in a state that overwhelming approves of Trump. I was really worried about that seat. There was a ton of outside money from Republican groups pouring in for him.

538 shared this chart from exit polls & it's really striking how much it really is just white people (and especially white men) who are voting Republican -

I know it probably doesn't mean much since none of them flipped, but I'm happy to see that in all 4 Arkansas congressional districts the R incumbents are underperforming their 2016 margins by ~10 points. The minimum wage increase is also winning 70-30. There's a small blue wave building even in this extremely red state.
I've read that he is facing 5 federal charges relating to the bombs but not which charges. Is it more likely that each charge is a different crime/count? Or would it be that they have only tied him to 5 of the bombs conclusively so far? And is it likely that gree could face additional charges as the investigation progresses?
Also, another random question- is there a tier system related to threats like these? Like Clinton/Obama is more serious than Waters/Harris/Booker which is more serious than DeNiro?
NPR listed the charges: transporting explosives across state lines, illegally mailing explosives, threatening former presidents and others, threatening interstate communications and assaulting federal officials
ETA I would assume he will be charged with multiple counts of each for each bomb that was sent.

Another vote for Rothys. I've been basically living in them since April. They take up almost no space, are comfy enough to walk in, and work well with jeans & dresses.
26% identify as Republican, 41% Independent, 30% Democrat.
They also asked Independents which way they lean. Combining the Republicans leaners and Republicans is 40% and the combined number for Democrats is 44%.
I realize the quoted numbers don’t support this, but based on the 46 and 26, it would suggest that more than half identify as Republicans (assuming no Ds in the 26%). For example, out of 200 people, 113 would be Rs.

I found some settings about setting up a Viglink marketing account. It was set to enabled for guests but I disabled it. Did that fix this?
We looked into monetizing the forum at one point but we would have had to switch to the paid version so that we could run our own ads and it just seemed like more work than we wanted to put into it. Plus I think the bump spinoff did that and then they imploded and that was a mess.

I just don't believe it's that critical for my kids to be in school every single day. We pull them out occasionally for good & silly reasons and they're still excelling.
I literally never had perfect attendance in my entire school life, and at least in high school always missed exactly the number of days I could miss without getting in trouble. I was still the valedictorian. My memories from some of those skip days are some of my most cherished.
I may reevaluate if my kids seem to suffer from being pulled out of school, but so far they're fine and I'm not convinced that missing a random Tuesday is going to have any impact on them at all. I do not expect their teachers to give them any special treatment or allow them to make up missed work - and I make this clear to the teacher before we go. So far their teachers have always been supportive.

I grew up splitting time between my poor/working class mom and my UMC dad. (He was a shit dad for a lot of reasons but the fact that he had more than enough and yet refused to pay child support is among the worst). I married into an UMC family. Now DH and I are probably UMC. Most of my friends that I hang out with now are our coworkers and thus are in our same range. My friends from my childhood are mostly working or middle class.

The older people in my life were overtly racist. Like, I always knew that my grandpa was robbed at gunpoint by two black men in Mississippi, and the story was definitely told in a way to emphasize that the men were black and that was the root of the problem. My grandma told us that dark skin correlated with morality, so people with the lightest skin were the most moral and people with the darkest skin were the least. She believed this as part of her religion.
However, even as a kid I knew all of that was racist bullshit.
But there were other things I learned from my mom (who would absolutely claim that she wasn't racist, and who would throw down with the grandparents mentioned above when they talked like that in front of us) that was harder to identify as racist when I was a kid. Like, she was absolutely terrified to visit some areas of Dallas. She would drive the long way around so as not to have to travel through the 'scary' neighborhoods. There was one mixed-race family in our town and, while I was allowed/encouraged to befriend their kids, I was never allowed to go to their house. I don't think she ever told me why, I just understood that she thought it was dangerous. Constant worry that some strange man is going to kidnap/rape you. The belief people who wear baggy pants and listen to rap music are probably on drugs/criminals. She was always afraid I was going to fall into the wrong crowd and the wrong crowd definitely wore baggy pants according to her so she flipped her shit when I started wearing JNCOs in my early teens.
IDK. Mostly it was just this fear of everything. My mom still will not walk outside by herself after dark, not even in her own back yard. And since we lived in such a small, white town (because good schools) all of the strangers tended to be minorities that we didn't know, so this idea that unknown (and especially minority) men = scary was just kind of drilled into our heads.

I am super tall so I've never even considered the proportional furniture thing. Thanks for giving me a new perspective!
I dress like it's the dead of winter in my office year round. It's always freezing. That's the #1 thing I would like to change.
Other than that, I need a quiet, private space to work but also an open collaboration area and plenty of huddle and conference rooms for meetings. I would like to have a women-only gym with a nice shower area. We have a gym at work but I never use it because for some reason I am uncomfortable working out with some of my male co-workers. I don't know if I've ever seen another woman in there. Also the showers suck and there's no good place to dry your hair/do your makeup so it's really just a perk for the men in the office.
I don't want or need flowery pink decor or fake phone booths (wtf).

My company is trying to pay me to sign one, which is weird and makes me not want to do it. They haven't said anything at all about it being required, though. It was just like 'Hey these are required for new hires, but since you were hired before they were a thing we will give you $100 if you'll go ahead and sign it now k thanks.'
