I sure hope my baby is born by then! Mother's Day is 3 days after my due date, so in my happy imaginary world I have a baby in my arms and a bouquet of Mother's Day flowers at my bedside
Here's a totally nutty picture of me pretending to be a super hero before an overnight relay race 2 weeks before I got pregnant. Our team was the Justice League and we all wore capes and acted like fools and won the women's division. I hope I can run like that again - it seems like a pipe dream at this point!
It hasn't happened to me much and I always appreciate when people ask first, but no - the belly rubs don't bother me as much in real life as they do in theory. I always thought I'd be pretty annoyed but mostly people are sweet about it.
No. I just got a couple Camelbak Eddy bottles (they have a straw, so I'm more likely to drink from them because I don't have to unscrew the top). They're 1 liter / 33 oz bottles and I just try to carry one everywhere I go.
I have been getting a random pain occasionally on my lower left side lately too. It feels sort of like menstrual cramps. But no tightening like a BH. I asked my midwife if it was contractions and she said it sounded more like round ligament discomfort or the baby pressing on a nerve. She also asked if I was constipated because the baby's position can sometimes push your intestines over to the left and cause discomfort in that area.
I don't have any experience yet, but am anticipating a small baby so I've been thinking about this. My friend had skinny babies and she said prefolds worked best, followed closely by Fuzzibunz. I'm planning to start CDing our newborn with prefolds and covers in newborn size, and then moving up to my Fuzzibunz/Bumgenius 4.0 collection when he/she gets big enough.
I will probably be only staying a short while, since our birth center kicks us out 6-12 hrs after delivery. So, I have a nursing nightgown and lightweight robe packed. Also, a couple pairs of loose-waisted yoga pants and some nursing tanks which I'll probably wear home. I need to throw in a zip-up hoodie or something. I don't think the birth center provides hospital gowns since it's not actually connected to the hospital. So I need to get another cheap nightgown or something to wear during delivery.
I just picked up a bunch of nursing tanks at Motherhood Maternity. They were having a buy 3 get 1 free sale on nursing bras/tanks, I think it's still going on. They seem like good quality and fit me now in length and I think they'll be perfect for this summer when I'm nursing.
My friends were surprised to receive thank you gifts, so I think it's not that common in our circle. But I felt like it was the least I could do for the beautiful shower they planned. There were 4 hostesses, so I kept it simple. I gave them each a box of nice truffles from a local chocolatier, a bottle of their favorite wine/craft beer/hard cider, depending on their preference, and a thank you card. It was about $20/ea.
1. How far along are you this week? 36 weeks 4 days 2. Pregnancy-related AWs/vents/randoms for this week? I'm still doing fine, but officially feeling ready to be done being pregnant. I am getting a lot more tired these days. 3. What are your thoughts on pacifiers? Will you try to get your baby to use one? I don't have an opinion on them but have heard that it's best to wait til after breastfeeding is well-established, so that's likely what we'll do. I really want bf-ing to be successful. 4. What does your screen name mean? I used India ink in a lab project for marking and thought it was really cool stuff. Plus, I like the sound of it.
My sis is a pro photographer and she just finished up my maternity photos! I love how they turned out! Thought you guys might like to see the famous Seraphine knot-front dress - it was great for my shower and maternity pics. These were taken at 33.5 weeks.
I was raised to dress up for church, even though we went to a casual church. So, as an adult, I typically dress nicely. However, pretty much anything goes in our nondenominational college-town church - people wear sweats or nice dresses and no one looks askance. If in doubt, I think you can't go wrong to wear a casual dress or nice jeans with a cute top and heels/dressy sandals.
