I went to Rhode Island once. I was in shock SHOCK at all the shades of polo and madras attire. Shocked. I had no idea that polo came in lavender and that men over there don it like the prettiest bridesmaid in a wedding.
Men don't wear polos in pastels on the west coast?! Now that is a travesty.
I love my husband in pastel polos. Lavender, pink, light green, seafoam, etc etc.
Pants are also acceptable in colors like a faded light green (almost like a nantucket red but green or another color).
Oh man, I love a good madras print in the summer. Please don't hold it against me.
I love a good madras. It's this shit below (and it's seersucker counterpart), that I can't stand.
I mean, WTF? People play too much!
Thankfully I have never seen that type of seersucker abomination "in the wild" so to speak, because I would have to surreptitiously spill some rose on it.
Interesting. My company is based out of Texas as our headquarters and I am paid from headquarters in TX. I pay the taxes for the state I live in (CA). I guess it's different when you remote in on a computer? Or perhaps it's simplified for me since TX doesn't have a state income tax?
Texas doesn't have state income tax and you work at an office location in CA. It's a completely different scenario.
Do they have tuition insurance? Many independent schools offer this. You pay an extra fee for the insurance and if you withdraw the insurance gives you a refund and pays the balance to the school.
Nah, it's Rich People. I don't know any non-rich white men who would wear the shoes these guys are wearing.
The middle guy is Ryan Reynolds, isn't it? He's losing his looks.
Are you kidding me? They are in watch hill and I routinely see people in these types of outfits walk around this state where we both live. It's standard New England wear.
What is interesting is that there were issues and delays in the manufacturing of these cars to begin with - Rotem owes millions to SEPTA in fines for the delay in delivery. These are NEW cars so this isn't an issue of let's complain about lack of investment in infrastructure. These are new cars (3-5 years old-ish) that were made to replace the aging old fleet.
All the railfan groups are talking about this because it sounds like a manufacturing defect in the cars.
So, is it safe to assume the trains in other cities are affected as well?
Denver has 60 of these cars in addition to the 120 that are in use in Philadelphia by SEPTA. I don't believe that anyone else is using this particular generation of the Silverliner at this time.
There are some slight differences in the cars used in Denver and they only entered service this year so its possible that they do not have the defect, or if the defect is there, that the defect is a safety issue yet for them.
Ok I asked my H and he reminded me it was two years ago and it was a mix of rain/sleet/snow.
That's not normal for that time of year but I will stand behind my weather unpredictable comment, but most likely in the 50s at 11 am in mid October in RI.
I would definitely call the police. I live in the traditionally Jewish neighborhood in my city and in the past two years someone spray painted a swastika and handed out leaflets with them. Both times it was all over the neighborhood list-serv, the police investigated, and it was in the paper. I live in a city smaller than Seattle but it's the largest in my state (around 175,000 people) and the police investigated it as a hate crime.
Frankly I'm surprised no one else has called it in yet.
Ok, I have to admit, I don't get why private schools need fundraisers for in-year things. Why are the amounts being sought in these fundraisers not simply added to the cost of tuition?
I can make a slight exception for capital expenditures, but why is a school only charging 80 % of costs?
Because that makes tuition cost more. Tuition is not tax deductible but charitable gifts to the school are.
I'm a fundraiser for an independent school and this is the model. It's the model all across the country. The school should tell parents what percent of the budget comes from fundraising (annual fund, auction, golf tournament, endowment draw etc) and be transparent.
You can't just raise tuition by the amount of the annual fund divided by student. That would be an extra $5000 a student where I work. Parents get a deal by giving $100 or $250 or $1000 because alumni donate and some parents can give $25000+.

You can go into the Boiling River just north of Mammoth Hot Springs, which is fed by the hot springs. It is an approved NPS location for swimming as is the firehole river. I am pretty sure those are the only two approved swimming locations in the park. www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/mammothfaq.htm
This is the one scene that bothered me in an otherwise awesome episode. I wish Arya would have found another method. Pies are straight out of Shakespeare and so many other medieval stories.
I disagree - I thought it was perfect revenge as Walder broke the rules about not killing guests once they have eaten at your table. So how appropriate that he was served his own sons in his own home.

I received a fundraising email today from the Clinton campaign saying that anyone who gives $19 is entered into a contest to win Hamilton tickets and a trip to NYC!
Also there is a Rochambeau monument in my neighborhood and it's been all overgrown for YEARs. Now they are fixing it up and I'm convinced it's because of Hamilton. I'll snap a picture when it's finished.

I'm going to add that we have an old folks home in our neighborhood with outdoor concerts in the summer on Wednesdays and they finish them up by 8 pm a tthe latest. It's nice. They were playing the beatles the other night.
Barely sunset?! momi that's a time zone issue. It was the longest day of the year just this week and my sun still set at 8:25 pm today.
Not a time zone thing, a "we're REALLY REALLY REALLY FAR NORTH" thing.
Please remember this when it's December and sunset is at like 3:45Ok
Ok I've edited this post to remove our specific longitude and will leave it that only 6 degrees of longitude separates me from momi and AH lives in the middle. Thus I'm not sure its a "really far north" issue as all three of us live in the north.
