My parents had a 2000 A4 wagon. It had a lot of problems with the electronics, the clutch, etc. Maintainence was included for the first XXX miles or years, I forget how many though. It pretty much shit the bed at 150K miles which disappointed my parents because they like to drive their cars for 200K+ miles.
I believe I've heard that MA has special rules. If she left she'd be replaced by a democrat.
My understanding is that the governor would have the opportunity to sit someone for a period of time (160 days, I think?) and we all know that people are lazy in special elections and mid-terms and will just check the box for the incumbent so unless EW gets out there and stumps heavily for a candidate a lackadaisical turnout would favor the incumbent...which would be the R that the governor seats. I don't think Hillary will take that chance.
Plus, she does amazing in the Senate and it would be a great loss there.
I think she'll go a different direction than "look, two women." I'm leaning toward Castro right now. Hispanic from Texas, name recognition (plus a brother with name recognition) and he can swing votes in Texas, the Southwest and Midwest, some key states.
Tim Kaine is from VA, also a key swing state, so he might be an option. It doesn't hurt that he speaks Spanish, which would be beneficial on the trail. My third choice is Labor Secretary Tom Perez. He can keep the labor vote for Hillary (or swing any that are tempted to turn toward Trump because vaginas are the devil) but he's from NY I think, so that (two NYers) is a consideration.
But Liz and Sherrod are no-go right now, with their Senate seats on the line.
I think the people of Massachusetts are smarter than just checking a box for an incumbent...but then again they did elect Scott Brown...so...
Newp. She's stronger in the Senate and they need as many strong Ds there as possible. The MA governor is a Republican and would be able to fill her seat (same reason Sherrod Brown isn't a consideration); it's only a 160 day appointment after which there will be a special election but unless they can get a strong D candidate, the seat will go to the R appointee as the incumbent because people are lazy. The misogynists won't vote for two vaginas.
Did I miss anything?
I believe I've heard that MA has special rules. If she left she'd be replaced by a democrat.
IDK what special rules you are talking about. After Ted Kennedy died, there was a special election and that's when Scott Brown (R) was elected to fill the seat for the rest of the term. Scott Brown then LOST that seat when the term was up to Elizabeth Warren.
After John Kerry became Sec of State, there was a special election and John Markey (D) won the special election.
I went to blue star last year in Portland and it was vastly superior to voodoo. We brought the box back to the hotel and were commended by the hotel staff for choosing blue star over voodoo.
Ah, I guess I don't know a midwestern accent then, because I thought that's what she had now, maybe with some southern thrown in. Her college accent actually sounded like no accent to me, ie New Englandy but waspy, collegiate, central New England, not like my horrible RI accent. More like what our teachers sounded like when they told us we'd never get anywhere if we didn't lose our accents, LOL
This is an interesting perception for a few reasons. One, because "no accent" or the "newscaster accent" is typically attributed to Midwesterners (although I think most people from Chicago actually have a very distinct accent, which is my point re Hillary). But two, nothing about New England is accent-neutral lol. At all. It's actually very distinct. Not touching the waspy thing. But I suspect the Rhode Island accent is strong enough that the rest of NE might sound mild in comparison. I can't say I'm familiar with the Rhode Island accent, however.
A Rhode Island accent is like a drunken Matt Damon in good will hunting. It makes my ears bleed routinely.
BTW, I would do the covered patio. I park my car outside 100% of the time and I live in New England (snow, frost, etc) so I don't see why a covered carport is necessary in TN unless you get crazy hail routinely.
Could you do an electric fence for the dog and re-evaluate in six months?
No. I'm not a fan of electric fences for dogs at all. ETA: especially if your dog goes cdrazy at a skateboard, there is a chance she would run through it and then be trapped ont he wrong side.
Thank you all for your feedback, and your kind words. 6/7 months postpartum, it is really nice to hear. I feel like I have a lot of balls up in the air and don't always feel like my best self, ha. But maybe you are right, and I should redo it. When I think about what I would wear now, it's less "string of pearls and job interview suit" and more something with some personal style, and maybe a more flattering color on me. Like royal blue.
A string of pearls is always acceptable for a headshot!
I'm going to be the dissenting asshole - I think you should retake.
ETA: And I agree its because I think you appear more confident in the more recent photo. I think you will have your I'm a pulled together BAMF partner face on in the new photo.
I had to take my son to see a doctor at Yale and had to get off an exit while TWO lanes of traffic were merging on. Who the hell designed that?!?!
I also wonder that every time I have to merge onto the highway from the left. Who thought merging into the fast lane was a good plan??
FWIW, I'm pretty confident nobody thought that was a good plan. It was likely just the best idea they could come up with given whatever the physical constraints in that area are. But I'm now looking at 95 through new haven and...man...that 95/91 interchange is a whole mess of spaghetti isn't it? It's under construction in the aerial on google and I can't even figure out what goes where.
It's been under construction for like 10 years. The issue is that 91 starts/ends at that 95 interchange.
The fetishization of the "heartland" and the rejection of the Northeast as not "real America" has always pissed me off. Doesn't get any more American than the original thirteen colonies.
America's identity belongs to its people, who are often concentrated on the coasts and major cities.
formerlyak, feel free to PM me your email and I would be happy to send you a .pdf of the article. or just scope it out in July once you have access. they keep all the old issues archived under publications.
I'm really sorry about your BIL. I would be tempted to spray paint the curb about yellow about three feet in either direction of your driveway. If someone is parked up against the curb cut you can't actually use your driveway. Check your town/city regs for how far from a curb cut they are supposed to be.
