Good luck, I hope it goes well! We did the 3 day method over Labor Day weekend. I think the key was to really watch them for signs they were about to go or to catch them immediately when they started to go. By mid-morning of the first day they were both starting to figure out the feeling of when they had to go, it was just a matter of teaching them to go sit on the potty in time!
I was GBS+ and had a scheduled c-section. I don't think it can be transmitted to the baby via a c-section, I think it's only with a vaginal birth. I'm pretty sure my OB said it wasn't an issue as they knew I was having a planned c-section. I did not receive IV antibiotics ahead of my c-section, I only received standard IV fluids.
This is true. I still got antibiotics though. I'm not 100% sure why though now that I think about it, but I remember my OB saying I'd still get it. I'm wondering now if she does it standard for all c-sections!
Yeah, I think I may have also gotten antibiotics during surgery (among many other things!). Maybe just as a prophylactic due to the risk of infection with surgery?

Susie , vtdiamond , BeagleMama , pooh8402 - do your Lands End jacket have zippers? I found 2 I really like but man they got some harsh reviews re: the zippers.
I haven't had any issues with the zipper on my jacket.
Love my Zella leggings, they have held up really well.
I'm obsessed with this fleece, pullover top from Lands End. It's so comfy and warm, I've been wearing it constantly at home/on weekends. I'm now on the hunt for more pullovers like this.
We survived the day, just me and the kids as DH had to go into work. I managed to keep them some what entertained so got some work done. We’ve got at least a foot of snow. We still have power but the wind is really howling out there now. Daycare has a delayed opening tomorrow so that’s annoying but better then it being cancelled.
Yup, I’m worried as well. We lost power for 2 days during a storm back in October. We also don’t have a working fireplace. During the Oct outage we used the grill to cook things and didn’t get too cold. I’m nervous this time as it will be much colder. If we do have an outage we would probably go to a hotel.
I've had to do this a few times for day care pick up and drop off with my twins, although it's usually due to cough/wheezing. Typically, I bring the sick kid in with me and then leave them at the front desk with he Director/Asst. Director while I drop off/pick up the other kid.
I think it's worth a shot to call ahead and explain the situation and see if someone could bring your other child out to the car for you.
Susie, for the outlets that we use we have the childproof boxes that go over them, otherwise the kids would unplug stuff. For the outlets we don't use regularly we have the slide locks like janegold posted.
scm1011, I would be pissed about daycare opening late and would light it up, that is so frustrating, especially now with it being so cold out.
My question is how to best child-proof a fireplace that we would like to use. Our new home has a wood burning fireplace that we'd like to use after having it inspected. What gate or screen would work best, I'm thinking of doing a gate that I could mount to the wall around it.
I just looked up Daniel Tiger Live tickets and the cost for our family of three would be $210 in the cheapest seats. If I am spending $210 on a show, I'm going to Hamilton. Sorry, kid!
We ended up getting our tickets off Groupon so it was like half that. I would keep an eye on living social or Groupon for them.
It’s just us this year, so I’m doing everything. This is what I️ had in mind:
Garlic Mashed potatoes Sausage stuffing (using the basic recipe from the bag of Pepperidge farm stuffing mix ) Roasted Brussel Sprouts. Thinking of trying this recipe: thecrumbykitchen.com/bacon-balsamic-roasted-brussels-sprouts/ Cranberry sauce from the can Rolls - prob from a can as well
Buying pies from our local farm where I’ve also ordered the turkey from.
Thank you, that brussel sprouts recipe sounds delicious! I was looking for something in addition to the standard potatoes, green beans, corn, and stuffing we normally have as sides.

I’m hosting. No idea how many people or what time because “that’s too far away to plan”. See below that I do all the cooking so no one else worries about it. It will be around 11 people. Up to 4-7 extra for dessert or apps. My goal is dinner at 5 pm, with some apps earlier in the day around 11 am (for those there then). Menu is turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, rolls, butternut squash gratin, cornbread leek dressing, roasted Brussel sprouts, jalapeño corn creme brûlée, and cranberry sauce. Dessert is pumpkin pie, apple tarte tatin, and salted caramel brownies. Haven’t picked a wine yet. Apps will be stuffed mushrooms, veggies with BLT dip, cheese plate. I’m going to make a sparkling honey apple cocktail as well. If my brother’s girlfriends parents come over in the AM, I’m going to make either a pumpkin spice or cranberry orange coffee cake. Maybe both! I do all the cooking myself. My parents buy a lot of groceries and take care of my kiddo while I cook.
This sounds awesome, what recipe are you using for the butternut squash gratin and the roasted brussel sprouts?
I’ve had times where I’ve been worried about dehydration and have called my pedi office nurse line. It’s been a while but I think their guidelines were no wet diapers for like 10-12 hrs, lethargic, no tears when they cry and also something about skin not springing back when pressed on. It would make me worry less that he’s eating other food and in good spirits. I would guess the sucking from nursing or a bottle is bothering his ears. Have you tried a sippy or straw cup as a different option?
Lots has happened in the last 5 years - Got married and had an awesome honeymoon - Had DS & DD - DH changed jobs a few times - I got a couple of promotions - Bought a house
Hugs to you, it is so tough with twins in the beginning and especially during the witching hour when they are crying the most.
My DH would respond to the crying pretty quickly, but didn't have the patience for crying that lasted a long time. He really is a fixer and would get frustrated after trying to get them to stop for 5 mins or so and then hand them off to me. I spent many evenings rocking crying babies as DH just couldn't handle it for more then 5-10 mins.
I think one of the hardest parts of twins is that you really get no breaks, once one was settled down then something would happen with the other one.
In the early days we really tried to be supportive of allowing one another to hand off the crying/inconsolable kid if we were nearing our breaking point.
We’ve dealt with a lot of wheezing. It wouldn’t hurt to call. They would probably have you look for signs of difficulty breathing - retractions (pulling in around their ribs while breathing), sucking in at the neck, or breathing more quickly.
I will say, sometimes when they’re really congested or can sound like wheezing but is just them breathing through all the congestion.
- Fancy Hairdryer - I'm thinking a Solano - Cool Mom Sneakers - Maybe leather Vans or Addidas NMDs or Nike Flyknits - Make-up - maybe a new lipstick or highlighter palette - Skin care stuff - Pull over from Lands End - Poncho or open front cardigan to wear with leggings
scm1011, I always wonder the same thing as my kids also have a Nov b-day. Our pedi office does a flu shot clinic in Oct so I've taken them then to get it.
For the walking I probably wouldn't be too concerned either as they are so wobbly and awkward when they are first learning to walk.
I haven't done it but a blogger I follow just did a whole IG live video of her getting it done and it was fascinating to watch. I think she has a post about it somewhere.

We use a day care chain as well. When there was a time between when our old Dirctor left and the new director started there were regional manager/ representatives on site at our center. They helped managed day to day operations and sent communications to parents. I would expect a presence from the company in this situation. Hopefully your call to their HQ will put that into motion.
I would also hope after your conversation with the manager she was on the phone with the director telling her that they have a huge problem that needs action immediately.
