I'm trying to plan our eventual move to the Seattle area. I quit though because I got discouraged. The job I want is in one place and the jobs MH would get are all in another. Even if we lived right in the middle each of us would be looking at what I think would be a horrible commute.
I do this with paper towel rolls. Then you can tuck the ends into the tube. Works great.
I use my paper towel tubes to keep the wires behind my electronics organized.
I donate the tubes from the toilet paper rolls to the local zoo. I don't know why/what they use them for but every since they asked for them, that's where they go.
They use them for environmental enrichment. You stuff the rolls with shredded paper or hay/grass and food or treats. The animal then tears through the toilet paper roll and digs through the paper or hay to get to the food.
It's used to encourage natural foraging behavior that animals would use in the wild. You can also use cereal boxes - or any cardboard box for that matter. I've seen them used for rats, birds, primates, large mammals, and everything in between.

I knew it was going to happen, but I didn't know when. When it happened I was very surprised - mostly because he woke me up at 3 a.m. and made me think he was breaking up with me (I'm very hard to surprise, so he had to be extreme).
How does a jellyfish think? Why should one think like a jellyfish?
I made this screen name when I was having a really hard time at work. New (horrible) boss. Really stressful and unhealthy work situation. It was the most stressed I had been in quite a while. I was constantly on the verge of tears, and my job was starting to affect me even when I wasn't at work.
I decided that I needed to just chill out, do the best I can, and try not to let things bother me so much. Kind of like a jellyfish. They just go with the flow, sting when provoked, but mostly just mind their own business and do their own thing.
This worked until I was having an especially stressful and horrible day and I realized that jellyfish are probably crying all of the time. We just don't know it because they are constantly surrounded by salt water.
Now I have a new, wonderful job, but my screen name reminds me to take it easy and try to go with the flow more often. I'm still ready to sting when I need to, though.

Hi there. I've been lurking for a while, but I've posted a few times over the past couple of weeks and realized I had never properly introduced myself. ;D
H and I are originally from Arkansas, but moved to SoCal right after we got married 5.5 years ago. We don't have kids (we are never-evers) but we have a dog, three cats, and two snakes.
I am destined to forever be nothing more than an occasional poster. I work 10 hour days at a job where I am not at a computer, and by the time I get home from work there aren't many people still posting. Rest assured that you guys provide me with tons of laughs (and quite a few tears) as I'm catching up on the posts from the day.
Thanks! I'm a bit of a nerd and I took a picture of it every 30 minutes so I could put them all together in a gif and "watch" it grow. Did I mention that I'm easily entertained?

We have three cats and I'm terrified they would eat and destroy a tree and the ornaments, so we have never had a Christmas tree. This year I found a "magic" (a.k.a. crystal) tree. It's about six inches tall and cardboard. You put in the "magic" water and over the course of a day it grows.

I have been following this drama since the beginning, and I am so happy with the conclusion. Good for you for sticking to your guns and defending your ethics. :Y: :Y: :Y:
I just played this game for the first time last weekend. It was hilarious.
My friend was able to download it for free on cardsagainsthumanity.com. she printed it out at staples for about $5. If you aren't buying it as a gift, this is totally the way to go!
I need things to be straight and I know not all of the cards would get cut perfectly straight. :-) So...it's a great idea if you're not anal about straightness. Lol.
True, true. Hers are not cut very straight. It's possible we had already started drinking when the cutting began...

I second this site. They have so many awesome things. I'm getting my dad the useless box. He's going to love it. Some other fun gift sites are uncommongoods.com and perpetualkid.com. good luck!

I am so sorry that you are going through this. My H had an affair one year into our marriage. He was the first type of cheater on GoDawgs' list. The ONLY reason that we were able to get past it is because of his actions after I found out. He immediately agreed to individual and couple therapy. Handed over all of his e-mail passwords, canceled facebook, gave me his phone to look at anytime I asked. All without arguing or batting an eye. I think the biggest help was his willingness for therapy. We had couple therapy and each had an individual therapist.
Again, I am so sorry you are going through this. If you need to talk please let me know. Stay strong and true to yourself! ({) (})
Are you in the Fayetteville area? I'm sort of surprised, being a college town, that there's no blue. But it's also the Bentonville area, so maybe the WalMart execs cancel those votes out!
Yes, I live in Fayetteville. I think Fayetteville itself leans blue but all of the surrounding areas are red, and the city isn't enough to carry the county. Benton county (Bentonville, Rogers) is very red. Washington county (Fayetteville, Springdale) was something like 55/45 Romney, whereas Benton county was 70/30.
Howdy neighbor! I'm from Fayetteville, but moved to SoCal five years ago. I was a little confused about how more of Arkansas isn't blue, but the above analysis makes sense. I didn't leave my Fayetteville bubble very often (and sadly I didn't pay much attention to politics when I was younger), so I think my perception of the area as a whole was quite skewed.

Malibu - I am a lurker but I just wanted to say I am so so sorry that you (and everyone else that has been there) had to go through that. I can't even imagine.
Papie - I am so sorry for your loss and I'm sorry you are in this horrible position. I echo pp and hope you will find a new OB. You deserve to be treated with more compassion than that. ({) (})

I'm a lurker, but since I actually have the day off I can answer!
Age: 29 Profession: Veterinary Assistant Where do you live? SoCal Kids: No Favorite color: Orange Favorite perfume: I don't use perfume, just body spray. By the end of the day I usually smell like anal glands and urine (charming, right?), so perfume would be wasted on me. Education: B.S. in Zoology, A.S. in animal training Favorite candle scent: Lavender Favorite brand of jeans: not sure, any suggestions? Favorite place to vacation: my favorite vacation was too Hawaii, but I can't wait to explore many other places
This. We don't have to turn the air or the heat on very often. I answered 80-82 based on what our thermostat has been on since May or so. I don't remember what we usually have it on when "winter" comes*.
Also, our vents blow directly on wherever we are sitting - couch in the living room, chairs in the office, bed in the bedroom, etc. I get uncomfortably cold when air is blowing directly on me, so I keep the thermostat set higher and open doors and windows for a breeze if I am hot.
*As a non-SoCal native, I'm still getting used to the winter weather in the LA area.
ETA: just saw poll was updated to winter...hmm...I honestly don't remember what we set thermostat to when it gets colder. Before turning on the heat we throw on sweatshirts and socks. If we are still uncomfortable we turn on the heat a couple of degrees. The vent situation still interferes when the heat is on since I get uncomfortably hot if warm air is blowing on me.
