Today was my day! Last week my ECF was reviewed and I had 2 eligible payments— January and February— the months from when I consolidated to FedLoans to when my ECF was signed. I knew I needed to wait for the DOE to send over my prior payment count. I checked FedLoan this morning and it was still showing only 2 payments. I’m not sure why, but I just checked 30 minutes ago and they’re gone.
Anyone here in this week's forgiveness wave? Who is still waiting?
I'm still waiting. It's been almost 3 months since they received my PSLF application. I consolidated my loans before submitting. I've read on the FB page that they are taking longer to process applications.
I haven't read all of the other responses, but my grandmother has Alzheimer's and currently lives alone. We're moving her to an assisted living place soon though. She currently has at home help during the week days (some, not all days). They help her with her glaucoma drops, they prepare her lunch and/or dinner, and do some light housework (help her strip the bed, wash towels, etc). My mom prepares her hot meals in advance, so the caregiver just heats them up. If your mom has dementia, she shouldn't be driving and someone else should be in complete control of her money. People with dementia are at risk of being taken advantage of financially. My mother took over all of my grandmother's financial stuff-- my grandmother doesn't have her checkbook. And she sold her car several years ago, after getting her diagnosis. Good luck!
I'm so sorry. We're dealing with this with my grandmother. We've chosen an assisted living facility for her and hope to move her in soon. It's been so much on my mom, so I'm glad that her burden will be lifted.
I recommended a patient go to the emergency department yesterday, which is very rare for me, I don’t think I’ve done that in over 2 years.
Anyway, I was texting with her while she was there and thankfully all was well and she got all the tests to rule out the possibly life threatening thing we thought was going on.
She was so appreciative of my help, so that made me feel good. Much better than patients yelling at you! I’ll prob eventually get out of full time direct patient care at some point in the future, but interactions like that make all the bullshit of insurance companies and paperwork worth it. I don’t want to give that kind of patient interaction up too soon!
You're such an awesome doctor, wanderingback! I wish more doctors were like you. My gyn sent me to the ER this past September to get a blood transfusion. No only did she never check up on me, but I don't even think I got so much as a "good luck" from her when I left the exam room. I followed up with a different gyn in the practice 2 weeks later who was so kind and caring-- I'll be seeing him from now on.
Walgreens has 3 test options listed - Diagnostic Lab Test (PCR), Rapid Diagnostic Test (ID NOW), Rapid Antigen Test (BinaxNOW).
We did the ID NOW yesterday and I'm wondering what kind of test it is. Is it PCR? If not, how does the accuracy compare? I've seen so much discussion about antigen vs PCR, but I don't know where this fits in.
(FWIW results were negative.)
I found this article to be helpful. So the ID Now tests are better than the rapid antigen tests but not as sensitive as a PCR test. But still really accurate.
I know it’s been posted here a lot, but how do we proceed with conflicting covid tests?
My dad got a faint positive on one of the government issued rapids on Sunday. The day before he felt like he might have had a scratchy throat (but we’re in Florida and temps went from 70s to 30s so that’s par for the course). Sunday he had a worse sore throat and tremendous heart burn. He sounded congested over the phone, but said he didn’t really have a cough or runny nose. He went to a testing site yesterday and the rapid there was negative and the pcr just came back negative as well. So…does he continue to isolate? He is back to feeling pretty normal as of this morning. I’m trying to give them advice on how to safely proceed.
It's 5 days from the time that he had symptoms. So Saturday would be day 0. Sunday day 1, Monday day 2, Tuesday day 3, Wednesday day 4, and Thursday day 5. So on Friday, if he is better he can go out to stores with a mask in terms of quarantining.
He has likely cleared most of the virus and that's why he is now negative, but the guidance is still 5 days. It doesn't shorten to a negative test. He was positive and had symptoms, so he 99% likely had Covid, and is now getting better. False positives are less than 1%.
mcppalmbeach, I think your dad was a false positive. PCR tests are the gold standard, so if his PCR test came back negative, then he was negative.
I submitted the paperwork to consolidate a month ago. I got the letter saying my consolidation was almost complete. I wish I would have looked into it when the waiver was announced. I just didn't think I was eligible-- my loans are FFEL and they weren't eligible before. I've made well over 120 payments. Just so excited that this debt will be gone in 2022.
Joy Anna and Austin released a statement that they agree with the court’s decision. From things I have read they learned the details about Joy’s abuse in real time when it was shared in court by Holt. Explains a lot about their demeanor during the trial. I hope they cut ties with the parents like Jill has.
This makes me absolutely sick for her. I hope she cuts ties to her parents too.
I keep coming back here, probably because I spent so much time in an REs office. I remember my first appointment, and I had to get a transvaginal ultrasound on CD3. I told the doc I had my period, and both him and the nurse laughed and said that’s why they were doing it. I was so fucking embarrassed, because at all my other physicals, I had to schedule specifically off my period.
So then when they brought me into the room, I was so worried about bleeding on the floor or the table but also humiliated enough not to ask what I was supposed to do.
So no real point to this post except compassion and empathy goes a long way when dealing with such personal appointments, both in comfortable and how the staff manages patients.
I want that doctor and nurse to be embarrassed to think back that they didn't think to give you any direction for what to do about that!! It's a pretty obvious question that you shouldn't have had to ask because it should be part of their standard instruction rundown.
I know in the moment empathy is a thing people in the medical industry struggle with sometimes because they're under pressure to turn over patients and it's easy to think of the procedures and not the people, but damn, about to be probed at a RE's office is prime "NEED EMPATHY" zone.
Same. I went to the gyn earlier this fall for incredibly heavy menstrual bleeding and very large clots. They made me disrobe and sit on the table while I literally bled all over it. And then the gyn did not even touch me. It was as though I had a disease that could be passed by touch. She said I needed to go to the ER to get a blood transfusion. At least in the ER, they did an exam on me (in addition to giving me blood). Bleeding everywhere in the gyn's office and in the ER was super embarrassing. Turns out, the bleeding was from a known side effect of the blood thinner that I was on. I stopped taking that (with my cardiologist's permission), and WALLA no more crazy bleeding. I ended up seeing another gyn in that practice (a male doctor), and he was so thoughtful and caring. I will only see him from now on.
Is tobacco/cigarettes thought to be more dangerous than drinking alcohol? Seems to me like both should be banned if one is - alcohol is addictive, can be dangerous and also increases cancer risks. Or is the difference that the secondhand smoke can affect nonusers in a way alcohol doesn’t?
Yes. Cigarettes kill 50% of users. The same cannot be said of alcohol.
Here is what I'm curious about, especially with all the people popping in and out from the family this week, and some sitting next to Anna (Derrick did) I really don't know if they are supporting the conspiracy theory that Josh was essential framed or if they are there just as a show of support for Anna, which I can almost understand, almost.
And will ANY of them speak publicly about it after the trial? Derrick posted something about wanting justice today but what did he mean, for the kids or for Josh? Will they just pretend it never happened and redirect everything towards "supporting Anna and the kids."
Given that his wife was one of the victims, I have assumed that his support for Anna is just for her. That it doesn't extend to Josh.
I don't know if anyone here follows Carrie Jernigan on TikTok (@carriejernigan1), but she's an attorney in Arkansas and is attending the trail and reporting on breaks.
His father bought the gun four days before the shooting. And there were rumors of something happening at the school yesterday so some students stayed home.
The video of the kids he tried to lure out by claiming to be a police officer shook me. Once the shooter used the word bro, the kids all fled through a window.
I saw this on TikTok and it sent chills down my spine.
I ended up answering my own question and scheduled my booster for November once I'm done with this work class (in case I have side effects again).
We laminated both cards because that's WHAT MY DOCTOR OFFICE SAID TO DO and gave me a coupon to do it. I just looked at DH's and his stickers from work take up the whole card. There's no room for the 3rd dose anyway.
Can we just have a national digital registry?
Your info should be in your state's immunization registry. I just logged into mine and both of my COVID vaccines were there. I got them both at a mass vax clinic.
Our part of my agency isn’t funded through appropriations, so we aren’t impacted. I sent an email to our staff today saying this so folks won’t worry. H would be impacted though.
Fuck Mitch McConnell. When the last president was in office and the debt ceiling needed to be raised, all Democrats voted for it. But when a Democratic president is in office, McConnell says no republicans will vote to raise the debt ceiling. Fuck him.
I'm so sorry about this. I would definitely look for a registered dietitian to work with, even if it means finding someone outside of the military. I'll note that so many medical doctors like to give out nutrition advice, but they don't spend a lot of time in medical school learning about nutrition. Certainly not as much time as RDs do.
They endorsed boosters for those 65+ and those who run a high risk of disease. They don’t usually delay votes— the whole point of the meetings is to get their expert opinion on the evidence to help the agency make a decision.
Clearly I’m going crazy. I thought I read something about them putting off one of the votes.
This vote was only about Pfizer boosters. Votes on Moderna and J&J will come later.
