Okay, so RockNVoll, has some irrational hatred of the Tube. I personally find it MUCH more efficient and very easy to use. There are maps everywhere and the CityMapper app is excellent. I only once had issues with walking directions (it was a hotel with multiple entrances so that didn't help, so don't use it trying to get to the bar @shoegal recommended). I love tea at Fortnum and Mason (OMG, the cookies that you could buy in the store too!!!!) and the Churchill War Rooms. I loved walking down the Southbank from the London Eye towards the Tower Bridge. Good sight seeing and a couple museums if you want. There is a restaurant outside of the Tower of London that is good and very convenient. www.perkinreveller.co.uk I tended to stay over in SW London so if you want to head that way, I can recommend some yummy restaurants. Oh, the Duke of York Square has a market on Saturday mornings that is all sorts of prepared foods. I could spend the day there and shopping on Kings Road (all in Chelsea). The Royal Mews is a nice small museum if you only have an hour or so. It isn't free, but I think its around 10GBP. I highly recommend seeing Kinky Boots on The Strand if its still showing. Great cast and the tickets were too bad.
The tongue tie is no big deal. They scream for one second and then they are fine. Even my dramatic one made it through. Don't worry!
Thanks! He ended up getting his lip tie done too. He screamed so much, I felt awful. He's okay now though, snoozing away. Now I'm just nervous about having to do stretching exercises ever 4 hours for the next 3 weeks. Ack.
What? You have to do stretches? Mine was a clip and a drop of blood and nothing else. Sorry you have to do that. But its better to have it done now than at 21 like I did!
Labor vibes to you, nessness ! Happy Birthday, dcn !
DS is getting his tongue tie lasered this afternoon. I'm so anxious for my poor baby. He's also been nursing and sleeping better the last few days and I'm afraid that I'm going to throw that to shit. Oh well, its for the best long term.
I'm working from home today with no childcare. I'm not sure why I thought this would work this week! Thankfully it looks like DH will have a snow day tomorrow (teacher). I head back to the office on Monday.

I'm thankful that we finally found a contractor to do some work around our house. It is now well on its way to really feeling like home. I'm thankful that the kids are making friends and doing well in school. I'm thankful things have calmed down for my husband at work. He was going to drive himself crazy trying to please everyone.

Yes, I went through a couple when I was working. The impacts were slow coming in my company, but they were notoriously bad for not integrating systems when they bought a company. That resulted in less "back of house" people losing their jobs as they were still required to run the duplicate systems.

YES, shop around and make sure you get someone who knows your neighborhood. We talked to two realtors and got vastly different information on pricing and staging. We went with the one whose signs were all over the neighborhood (despite both living in the neighborhood). We ended up selling in two days for 30K more than the other one wanted to list the house for.

scm1011, my company was doing lay offs when I was 6-7 months pregnant with twins. My husband was praying that I would get laid off! I hope it works for you!

Gin and tonic is always my safe drink. While I can make it better at home, its usually drinkable out. I love scotch, but at an open bar, the options aren't usually great.

My kid was about to fail the hearing test at the doctor's office for her kindergarten physical. It was because she was screwing around and not paying attention. Once she was focused and could say "hear it" instead of raising her hand, she was fine. Stubborn little thing. Don't freak out about it, but definitely follow up especially if there was a cold/congestion.

In honor of explorer2001, let's do Thursday Thankfuls again!
Mine, so thankful that my SIL had a healthy pre-term baby. And so proud of my SIL that she changed her mind about breastfeeding when the doctors told her that it was best for the baby. She has really grown up in the last week.

Husband won't be home until late Friday or possibly Saturday from visiting his sister, her new baby, and his dad. But at least the kids aren't out of school until Friday afternoon so I'm not doing solo parenting all day and night. I think he has the whole next week off, but assume he will still work as it has been crazy for him lately. Then we are actually getting our inspection repairs done (yes, we bought the house five months ago). And then we have friends coming in for NYE!!!!
I'm judging my BIL HARD. His sister (also my SIL) just had a pre-term baby and he is taking his kids to see the baby. Uhmmm, kids are f'ing germ factories and the baby is in NICU. There is no reason to expose the baby or the parents to your kids' germs. I made sure everyone was up to date on their shots and had flu shots and I didn't have a premie.
Oh hell no!
And I'm not even sure the kids will be allowed in the NICU. Ours only allowed siblings otherwise it was strictly no children.
ETA: I hope the baby and mom are ok. Sending them good thoughts.
Yeah, and this is why I refuse to live anywhere near my in laws. Their poor judgement/selfishness knows no bounds.
Baby and niece are doing great considering everything. Baby doesn't even require oxygen!

Does anyone have advice on shipping a package from the US to the UK? I priced it out at UPS today and was quoted $311 to send this package. It's 2 small gift boxes with 2 pairs of HA jams, a dress, and a sleeper for a friend's kids gift. I'm not too worried about it getting there by Christmas since I got wintery HA jams instead of Christmas and the other items are a new baby gift.
Send it USPS and declare no more than $20 value per recipient listed on the outside of the package. USPS should be your cheapest way and declaring a low value will make sure the recipient won't owe VAT (taxes) on your gift.

I was on Lupron which, as I just looked up, is a hormone suppressing drug. It made me feel like I was getting sick.....achy and tired, but tolerable. Part of that could have been mental/emotional.

While twins are higher risk, you can still have a successful, healthy, and safe twin pregnancy. Just like you can have an unhealthy singleton pregnancy. For me, the biggest factor was the quality of embryo. On the first three IVF attempts, I had just okay embryos. On the fourth attempt, I had two good embryos (and a couple okay ones). The doctors were willing to transfer three based on my previous lack of success. But given the quality of the embryos, we went with two. I got pregnant with twins and delivered them full term with no issues. My SIL had her singleton at 32 weeks. One person's experiences won't necessarily be your experience so you have to do what you think is best for your situation and your body. Hopefully you can talk to the doctor (that you trust) to get more information that is applicable to you. Good luck and you are amazing for doing this!!

I haven't done any of the in laws. i refuse. His nephews don't like anything we get them and are always ungrateful. I stopped doing his brother and SIL after the year where they "forgot'' to get me a gift. We had been married a couple of years so it wasn't like I was a new girlfriend.
Finally got the Christmas cards sent out this week. So much for getting them done early even though I bought the cards before Thanksgiving.
We have some Christmas show to go to on Sunday and the kids want to go see Santa so I suppose we should do that on Saturday after skating lessons.

I'm in a rut again with dinner. I feel like we have rotisserie chicken, flank steak, and ravioli every week. I need help, please! Easy, relatively healthy meal ideas are needed! I've given up worrying about the foods my husband will or will not eat so its pretty open. Plus he has been working and traveling a lot lately so he's not around for dinner.

Yeah, so my just turned 5 kindergartener asked me if Santa was real because a kid in his class said Santa wasn't real. I'm not ready for this. I think I was 8 or 9 when I stopped believing.
