What are you training for? Date? South shore open water swim 2.4 miles. October 8.
What is your training plan for the week? Swim Wed Fri Sat.
Any issues or vents? Obstacles for the week? Our weather is supposed to cool down again starting Thursday ... If it stays cold up the hill, there's a possibility air temp could be below freezing at race start (or it could be snowing). I don't even know how to prep for that.
Highlights or AW's from the past week? Had a fantastic time at the Masters convention. Absolutely marvelous.

Have you put samples up in your room yet, or decided on a color? I'd do that first, if you haven't. Perfect beige is difficult (which is why I think people switched to grey), because there are so many color directions can go and no one wants to live in a giant band aid.
That said, if you have a color you're happy with, do it. Who cares if it's in or not?

I'm in GA right now (at the airport) and it is hot as balls. Not just 90 out, but also approximately 150% humidity. @vtcupcake is such a badass, I can't even begin to explain it.
The problem is that it's currently a yellowish cream.
I'm not afraid of color, and other than a horrifyingly ugly gas stove in the corner in forest green, the room is a blank slate. Let's think outside of neutrals.
The dark wood is beautiful! What room is it - a dining room?
We think it maybe was originally the kitchen? It's going to be the family/media room.

I have a hard boiled egg machine (it's basically an electric steamer) wambam and I love it. It's small enough I don't feel guilty keeping a unitasker around, but it cooks perfect eggs, every freaking time. And they've been perfect peelers every time too. I have this one:

I'm headed to Atlanta for a conference and have a three hour layover in Houston, so I'm getting breakfast. It's a brisket omelet and tator tots. I think I'm in heaven. Nom nom nom.
And the first thing I'm doing in Atlanta is going to Zaxby's. It's going to be an epic food day.
That said, I'm freaking exhausted. Slept reasonably well for three hours on the plane, but that literally marks 3 hours of sleep in the last 24 hours. Ooof.
mrs.jacinthe , I don't know if you know what scrapple is, but it would be on my dad's list. Not my favourite. So good on you for eating the things he loved despite your own ick factor around them.
Confession: I love scrapple. There's a diner out here that does it really well, too.

LOL TBM , we did not always share the same tastes, for sure. Dad had weird food preferences - for example, I'm *boiling* the bacon, ick. I'm suffering through a couple pieces of lemon meringue pie for him (we started the food fest last night), and I *do not* like it. But bacon, eggs, Wendy's (frosty and Jr bacon cheeseburger), and Texas Roadhouse? Always ok, although I'm sure I'll regret this tomorrow.

I was going to post something navel gazing about my dad, but instead, I wanted to thank you ladies for your support last year. It meant the world to me.
Today is going to be a veritable food fest in his honor, we're starting the day with bacon and eggs, then for lunch we're having Wendy's, then for dinner we're going to Texas Roadhouse. I have actually stopped taking my metabolism medications for the last two days so this amount of carbs doesn't make me seriously ill. LOL It never hurts to be prepared.
This weekend, I don't know if we have actual plans. I need to do some shopping for my trip next week (anyone in ATL want to GTG?) and R is going to spend the weekend continuing to load and organize crap into the shed (OMG, this is a ridiculously slow process), but otherwise, I think I'm going to continue working on some sewing/crafty projects I've had on the back burner for a while.

Bilateral: I can, but I don't. I prefer to breathe to the right and that's how I roll. It's more helpful, IMO, to be able to breathe unilaterally to both sides.
Kicking: it's a fairly common misconception among triathletes, mostly because many of them over kick to begin with. If your stroke is good, you should be able to kick throughout and not wear yourself out. If you have to over kick to get anywhere, you need to work on your overall stroke first.
Flip turns - eh. I don't. You can, especially if you intend to do more pool triathlons. But not necessary for ows.

We're almost there. Thank God. Tomorrow is going to suck (it's the one-year anniversary of dad's death). I have plans to eat ALL the things, drink a lot, and then sleep in on Saturday. Also, I got rear-ended on Tuesday (good times), so now my week is full of obtaining estimates and coordinating with the dude who hit me to get the repairs paid for. Poor Bessie (my car), she didn't deserve this. Also, I finally figured out why I was having trouble with staying awake and feeling lousy at work, and it's because I was taking my metabolism meds in the morning - low blood sugar will do that for you. But what I *don't* know is how to remember to take them at night (which is why I switched to mornings). Any ideas??

I would wait. And probably also somehow lose track of time, forget to open it at 11, and ruin something. Sigh. I have no idea why R sticks around, LOL.

Another vote for the flax sweater. BUT ... do a small size (for a baby or child) before you tackle the adult. My first sweater was an adult Flax and I was so bored by the end of it. once you get past the neck increases, it's just a billion rows of knit. There are ways to make it more interesting (as I know *now*) but I'd definitely start with a child's version as a learner.

Love it!
I've been struggling with exhaustion the last couple weeks and finally figured out it's because I switched to taking my IR meds first thing in the morning instead of before bed. Low blood sugar will do that for you. *sigh*

Geezalloo. (No idea how to spell that except phonetically.)
I don't understand people. I just don't. I'll admit it - occasionally, I'll have a flash of racist thought (unintentional), but you know what I do? I recognize it for what it is, thought-check myself, and then try to do better. I don't post that thought all over the damn internet.
I'm sorry, @kirkette, that you are dealing with this at all, let alone at the moment. Applause to you for being graceful and kind despite provocation - that's a skill I can't even comprehend and you do it without effort.

Congrats again! I love that you left 100% out there. Amazing!
And also, sea lions kinda freak me out too. They're not as aggressive as sea otters, but they can be highly territorial, so I like to not see them also. Lol
