H and I are going away this weekend. With the craziness we've had over the past 6 months with our move, we need a weekend just to relax and unwind. Of course, it's going to be the coldest weekend of the year. So I suggested to H that we go to the local winery, distillery, and microbrewery where we'll be staying and partake in the tastings at each.
I know this sounds crazy, but what if he gave notice before the promotion went into effect? Would he get paid out his vacation then? If so, then he'd have time off before the new job and would still get paid for that time (if he has that much vacation banked)
Also, according to the Instagram feed he is being adopted today. I hope that is true!
I wish people would stop cutting onions in my office.
According the the Instagram feed, a rescue group is going to take him. He will be adopted through that group. Hopefully that adoption will be soon. ETA: Nevermind, in the comments it says that he is going to a home, not a rescue. YAY!
Was it on this board that a poster talked about a neighbor of theirs who had plastic flamingos in the yard and they'd dress them up for the different holidays? and then someone stole them?
Update on my dog. Diagnosed with separation anxiety. Given Prozac. Hopefully this will work.
Good luck.
Did the vet mention those plug-ins or calming sprays. We tried the thundershirt with my dog. It worked okay, but I think I ended up putting it on at the wrong time, and it became a negative connection for him.
I got a book called I'll Be Home Some that gave some good tips, when I was dealing with SA with my dog.
No, she didn't. But I might give them a try. Can't hurt. I am leery about the Thundershirt and leaving him in it all day when we aren't home.
I'm sorry womet . I don't know the age and backstory on your dog, but could it just be the move that's throwing him off.
I hope the anxiety meds help him. Poor pup, and poor you.
He is 8.5 years old. We rescued him at 18 months, they told us he had confidence issues. Turns out he was majorly abused in his last house. He would pee in the house whenever left to his own devices, couldn't be contained in the crate (would also pee in it), and has issues with kids (last house had 7 special needs children). We have spent thousands of dollars on training and behavior modification. As it is now, I can't have people over without boarding him.
I'm sure the move has him stressed. We'll talk with the vet about meds, but we draw the line at biting. If he bites again, H and I have agreed that's it. I hate even saying it outloud, but we just can't take the risk.
I am worried about my dog. He has been having behavior issues (he bit a dog at camp, more peeing in the house)... and this morning he bit H. We keep him confined to one level of the house so that he doesn't pee on the carpet. He managed to get under the gate before H left for work. He tried to get him back upstairs, he wouldn't budge, H went to grab his collar, and M bit H. We have an appointment this evening with the vet (a new one since we just moved). I am going to ask for anxiety medications, because the behavior mods don't seem to be working and he is getting worse. H and I agreed that if he bites again, we are going to put him down.
I just listed to the Undisclosed mini podcast for Day 3. They had Adnan's mom speak for a minute. Hearing the joy and excitement in her voice on how well the hearing is going made me tear up.
There is a great reddit feed that has been a great source of info. Useless Steve is the security guard for Woodlawn Library that folks thought would be testifying. And then the librarian said he was useless. Students called him 2.5 since cops are 5-0.
@ruralrabbit1, you are ordered to post more pictures of your pup! She is so adorable!!! Welcome back kore2!
Starting to get pulled into more projects at work. I had my end of year review yesterday. It went well. I leaned in and told my boss that I was interested in leadership opportunities. Our branch is going to be forming teams at some point in the future. One of the proposed teams will focus on what I've been doing since I started working. I just hope the fact that I am new to this agency won't count me out.
Re Edith and the apartment etc. I have questions that have been plaguing me for 2 weeks but I forgot to bring it up last week so here goes. If I recall correctly, the whole reason that Marigold's father was in Germany was because they were being liberal with the divorces there and he needed to shed himself of his assylum dwelling wife.
So the question is, did they tie up the story line with the wife? And if not, how does Edith get the apartment and the magazine and all his "stuff" if his wife is still alive?
Right before he left for Germany, Michael Gregson had Edith sign a bunch of legal documents giving her control of his assets while he was away, namely running the magazine. It isn't stated directly (that I can remember), but he drew up a new will and left everything to Edith.
Friday: pizza $17 Saturday: haircut and highlights $175, groceries $60, take out for family dinner ~$40 Sunday: dog boarding $7 (used the rest of a credit to our account), tickets to Garth Brooks $157
When we listed our house, we got strange comments from people about stuff we couldn't change. Our house was on the corner and faced our street but our driveway faced the other street. And someone said they didn't like that the first part of our house that you saw when approaching was the driveway.
We obviously couldn't do anything about the placement of the house on the lot, so we ignored them. I wouldn't add a wall or offer a credit. Make sure that your house is priced well and you'll find the right buyers.
Being in the office today. We opened 3 hours late, but our big big boss encouraged everyone to work from home today. From my group, there are only 2 of us in today. The roads were not bad at all, and our facilities folks did an amazing job getting everything plowed and salted.
H found out that he does get paid for the days that his agency was shut down and doesn't have to use his PTO. Woohoo!
You have gotten a bunch of wonderful advice (the ladies here rock), but I just wanted to tell you how proud I am of you for getting yourself out of there safely. I am not sure I would have been so level-headed in your shoes. Stay safe. {{{hugs}}}
I completely sympathize. Tailoring costs are the reason I own very few pairs of pants (aka "trousers" now that I live in London...I own plenty of "pants" .
I hope you own more than 5 pair of "pants." They definitely cannot be worn more than once between washings.
Happy Thursday. I am at urgent care with what I think is strep.
Oh no. I hope you feel better soon.
Is it just me or does it seems like so many people are sicker than usual this year? I've heard of a couple cases of strep, my friend has bronchitis, my coworker's daughter had a cold that lasted for weeks (so probably not a cold).
Thanks! I haven't seen too many in my life sick this year. Apparently what I have isnt strep, but I still got some drugs. Probably inappropriately prescribed but I don't care if it makes me feel better.
