If you picked CD, what was the biggest factor for you (cost, environment, baby's comfort, whatever)? $$$ baby's butt health, enviro
Did you wash them at home or use a service? At home
Did it end up costing more or less than disposables would have cost? If it was less, was it "worth" it in terms of the amount of extra work for you & H? WAY less. I began cd at about two months, with a stash of 12 bum genius and 8 flips, all on sale. Since then, I have added 4 alvababy ( $6.10 or so on ebay, buy now , new, free shipping) That was the barebones # I would recommend, but I washed every other day in the newborn stage, and every 3-4 later. I have only spent about $300, and have saved major money on dipes. I use cloth wipes sometimes, when I remember to get them wet lol I bought cheapie baby washcloths, get wet in sink, and put in empty wipe container.
You can definitely spend way more money and make it not cost efficient, but my first motivation was saving money, so I did it on the cheap but easy side. You can get even cheaper with tri folds, but I wanted easy as disposables for others watching Sammy.
As far as solid poo... I make my own disposable liners out of scraps of fleece from Joanne's ( no need to sew, fleece doesn't unravel) or if I have some old t shirts to repurpose, I cut to size, wash if only pee, and toss for poos.
For wash, I soak in the machine for an hour or so, agitate for a couple, drain, then just one regular hot wash/ cold rinse cycle. I use either powder planet or the homemade stuff.
The only reason I am sad to be potty training is I have to give up the cute diapers I have loved it, all 2 1/2 years of it! ( and for the record, my husband was never against it, he just wouldn't use them, so we always had some disposables on hand for him. Whatev's, I still saved mega $ Good luck!
why are you hoarding houses (i.e. tell me why you have more than one! got married and he had one too? too much money? wanted to upgrade/downsize?) We bought our starter home in '99 with the intent of staying several years, then using it as an investment property when we outgrew it.
how long have you had multiple? 2007
what do you do with your other home(s)? rent? vacant? Rent
if you rent out your other home(s), do you use a property mgmt company? if so, what do they do? if not, how do you manage it? We do not use a company, but within the next year, we will be moving OOT and renting both of them, so I hope to use one then. It is very stressful finding the right people, cleaning, fixing, etc, all happening so fast so you don't lose any rent.
if you are renting it out, do you do the depreciation expense on your taxes? is that difficult? My tax lady does it. She just asks how much we collected in rent and if there were any months of it being empty.
would you rent it out to a friend if you had a good basic contract? We have, twice. It's kind of a double edged sword...you feel more comfortable with who is taking care of your home, but then they both started to pay later and later and get behind in rent and take advantage because they felt they could. If it is a close friend, I wouldn't recommend it. It puts you in a position of "power" over them financially, and that will change the dynamic of your relationship
anything else you might want to tell me? It is stressful for me, but hopefully it pays off some day. We have really been pretty fortunate so far.
I also feel like my opening shrunk. It still requires the slowest entry known to man, but once the peen is finally in, it's all good (two and a half years later). I do have a friend whose scar tissue will not allow entry at all...she needs surgery, but the kicker is the surgery could make it worse. I hope it gets better for ya soon!
What kind of car do you drive? 2006 scion xb ( yes, the toaster
What do you love? How it's so easy to see out of, the seats are the perfect height from ground level - don't have to jump up or bend over too much - great for my husband with bi-lat fake hips
What do you hate? The gas mileage is not as great as you'd think a little 4-banger should get
How does a carseat fit? Great. There is a ton of room in the backseat, both leg room and head room. I had 3 six foot plus people back there kinda comfy
Room to haul around everything you need? It's def on the smaller side as far as storage area. My big stroller takes up the whole trunk. my 50 # dog fits, with stroller in backseat
If your car was totaled today and insurance would let you buy a new car, would you buy the same car again? Probably not, just because i need to upgrade my storage space, with a 13 yo, 2 yo, dog, plus stuff but the car has served us very well over the years, and if there was only one kid, it fit us much better
No way, are you from SW, too? I'm sure I'm much older than you... Class of '92 here . I've been away since about '94, and I can't believe we are actually moving back next summer. Doh. Lol Not to be a creeper... I've been a lurker for about 8 years... just never had a job conducive to TK /TB / GBCN active activity status. Thankful the DB is in jail
I lost my gained 30 plus 10 within months, while breast feeding. After 18 months of BFg, when i stopped, I gained 38 back... Holy crap... I'm the heaviest I've ever been... About-to-give-birth-weight... I repeat, holy shit :-(
We have a round mirror in a square iron frame, with two long skinny iron candle sconces (all matches the bed). The mirror has fallen once, but slid against the wall. The candles have felt footies on them because they rattle from the jblm planes lol
May 14, 2005...My g-ma's birthday is the 13th and so I knew a lot of the out of towner relatives are usually here for her anyways, so kill two birds with one stone. And I love spring
Do you have any particular questions? I've cd for a couple of years now. My stash consists of mostly BGs , flips, and kawaiis. I have never regretted it for a minute
At K&G, they had some $10 "body slimmers" that I got two sizes two big (so they wouldn't be as tight They are silky lingerie material with lacey edges, but tight like bike shorts.
I hike up to pee...wrap around the waist on the other side if it's too long
Hi! I'm new to GBCN, but thought I'd chime in. My mom had an older sister and a sister-in-law who were both yellers. By the time mom had us kids, she knew that was something she didn't want to do. That said, even though she didn't yell, I have bad self esteem I can totally see how that could be a person's reaction to the situation though
