We don't celebrate Easter and don't have kids so it's a typical day for us. Yesterday was a beautiful day and now today is cloudy and cold again, so I'm probably getting some of the remaining things for our vacation booked.
Random question: If you have been to Maroon Bells since they started requiring reservations, do you recommend doing the shuttle tickets or the car pass and getting there early? We wouldn't have problems getting there before 8 AM but I would probably like to get there later, which means doing shuttle passes. It just seems like a lot of extra hassle to do the shuttle.
Thanks all. I have looked into some of the options mentioned and it seems no one offers a 100% cost of trip reimbursement for cancel for any reason. The most I saw was 75% of trip cost. Is that what can be expected of all companies or has anyone seen a 100% cost of trip coverage?
Usually for cancel for any reason coverage you have to get it within a few days/week of originally booking the trip, and yes, many don’t cover 100%.
And we compare various plans and providers on insuremytrip.com.
The first part of our trip we booked on March 12, so I will definitely be figuring out the trip insurance within the next day or so because I did see some require it to be no farther out than 14 or 21 days of first booking.
We have multiple different lodgings (5 total) with all different cancellation dates. One 60 days out, one two weeks out, some 48 hours out, some 24 hours out. I'm assuming I would want to insure the total cost of all of them, right? Let's say I had to cancel a month out. I could get a refund for everything but the one lodging, so could I just file a claim with the insurance for the one lodging I couldn't refund?

A couple summers ago, our dog started having diarrhea out of nowhere. She had been playing in her kiddie pool in the backyard and drinking some of the water, but we dumped it every single night and refilled the next day so the vet didn't think that was it. She had said sometimes it just happens. She was on chicken and rice and no treats for a few days, seemed to be totally normal, so we went back to her regular diet. Within a few days she got the diarrhea again.
The vet did run blood work, tested for things like parasites, etc. and everything was normal. She thought it could be we just didn't give her stomach enough of a rest before going back to normal diet. So this time, we kept her on the easy diet and strictly NO treats for longer (like a week I think?) and she finally kicked it.
Also my dog will 100% puke whenever she eats grass.

We saw Hasan Minhaj last night and he was hilarious!
So this week I went out with coworkers for Happy Hour on Wed, went out with friends Friday night for my birthday and went to a comedy show last night. My introverted self needs some no-people time today.

Where have folks had good luck getting trip insurance through? We typically don't purchase it because most of our lodging for trips can be cancelled up to the 1-2 days before. But this upcoming summer trip has one condo that has to be cancelled 60 days out to get money back and another that has to be cancelled two weeks prior. With our elderly dog's health, plus my parents (our dog-sitters) needing to help my grandma and her being very elderly and not in great health, it makes me nervous to not be able to cancel and get money back closer to the trip.
I'm assuming if we had to cancel after the deadline, the way it would work is that we would still pay the lodging company and then the insurance would reimburse us. Is this something you go through your regular insurance company for or are there recommended places online?

My parents didn't really "make me" but I wanted a job in the summer and on weekends in the spring/fall. I worked at a seasonal place (mini-putt/arcade place) so I worked full time in the summer and then just weekends until they closed in the fall and then weekends when they opened in the spring. I was in too many after-school activities do work weeknights during the school year.

I took today off for my birthday and my parents decided to visit and we could go out to lunch. Well they are still coming but it decided to blizzard where they live. As you drive south, we have absolutely nothing so they got to leave the bad weather but still have to drive home later and I’m worried about them making it ok.
My mom refused to cancel though because due to several different circumstances, we haven’t seen each other in person for 9 months.

I downloaded Kill For Me, Kill For You. It has been on my TBR list for months but was just released on Tuesday. I bought it the day it came out but this has been the busiest week at work and socially and I have not had a single second to sit down and read.
I have been in the biggest reading slump and pretty much not read anything all winter (very unlike me), so I can't wait to have some time this weekend to just dive into what I think will be a very good book.

We're finally doing our trip to Breck, Aspen, and Crested Butte this summer. I already have lodging booked in Aspen (yeesh, that's expensive) and am narrowing down options for the other two. I think I'd like to do a condo or townhome in both.
Was hoping to get some input on location from either locals and/or people who have visited before. In Breck, we would love to be walking distance to the main road but not right on it for noise purposes. I am looking at a couple condos at Trails End, which appears to be on/near Village Rd. as well as a townhome that looks like it's near 4 O'Clock Road. Would either of these be a preferred location or kind of similar in terms of what we're looking for?
For Crested Butte, my preferred location was probably in town but I am not having luck finding things that either 1) aren't sold out for our dates; 2) don't have a minimum stay of a week; or 3) aren't horribly expensive in town in terms of condos/townhomes. So I think we will be staying on Mt. Crested Butte. Hopefully it's not too much of a hassle driving down into the town. I'm having a harder time finding condo options I like here. I have two saved - one at Evergreen and one at Three Seasons. Are both pretty similar? Any other options you'd recommend?
Also, I know both places are at elevation so hopefully we won't melt with not having AC in either town?
ETA: And I do know that Aspen to Crested Butte is a long drive as you have to go around the mountain. That is fine with us. I have always wanted to see both places, 4-5 hours is not that long for us on our road trips, and the drive is part of the enjoyment for us.

Yes, I pretty much always have water with me wherever I go. I take a pill right before bed so need water for that and I also like being able to take a sip if I wake up thirsty in the night
I slept until 8:30 today which never happens. I can't believe I slept that late. It's going to be decently nice here today so we're doing a hike and then taking the dog for a walk. I also have to pick up my prescription sunglasses that are in and look for a trellis for our backyard.

I would do nothing since it was to-go and not noticed in the restaurant. I would also be disappointed because I hate getting carry out home and realizing something was wrong or not cooked well. But unless I was going to go back and/or call right then, I would just let it go. Or like others mentioned, send a comment through their online webform if you wanted to (I would probably do that today or tomorrow so it's still pretty recent).

When my grandpa was alive, he’d buy scratch-off tickets for himself and my grandma to scratch off virtually every day. I really don’t see this as a big deal. I would do nothing with this info.
I have been in such a reading slump. I normally read at least 5 books a month (sometimes double that) and have not read a book since mid-January. I did get sick and didn't feel like reading and then after that, I've DNFd a bunch.
I just downloaded Don't Forget Me by Rea Frey and hope that one holds my interest.
Oh, this is the one I"m reading! I like it. I'm also having a hard time reading-wise but this one is keeping me interested (even if I only read a few pages a night, lol).

It’s sunny but blustery today. Went and voted early, ordered some prescription sunglasses (decided I need to have some after not being able to wear contacts for a week+ due to an infected ulcer on my cornea - 0/10 do not recommend that by the way), walked around my favorite nursery that just opened for the year and had lunch at a brewery.
Now I’m hoping to book lodgings for our summer trip to CO. Doing Breck, Aspen/Snowmass and Crested Butte.
I do dislike waking up when it's dark (and having it be dark for awhile after that), but also really love the later daylight. I don't do much before work besides shower, eat breakfast, get ready, so I much prefer having more light after work when I can go sit outside and read, work in the yard, take my dog for a walk, etc. All winter, I just go plop on the couch after work because it's dark so early.
I really love May/June when we get daylight before 6 AM and it's still light out super late at night.
At my old teaching job, I had the principal's daughter in class one year. He didn't agree with a grade she received on an essay (supported by a very detailed rubric) and she cited NOTHING in her essay, so she also was deducted for improper citations/plagiarism, because it is plagiarism when you don't cite sources even if it's inadvertent or not purposely cheating, which the students were well aware of as we spent so much time on it in class and they also turned in drafts, etc. where i marked this.
He demanded to know why this was considered plagiarism (via email), so I replied very respectfully as I would to any parent and explained it.
Well after that he absolutely blew me up via email. He kept spamming me with angry emails as I was teaching during the day, called me condescending (), said I wasn't a good teacher, blah blah blah. I ended up pulling in the assistant principal and basically saying I was not comfortable dealing with the principal alone as it related to being the parent of a student. This wasn't the only occasion where he did this, either.
He ended up being asked by the board to leave before his contract was up and being escorted out of the building by security a few months later.
Ugh I developed a scratch on my cornea last night. I’ve had one a couple years ago and it was miserable then. I have dry eyes and probably have not been keeping them lubricated enough and leaving my contacts in too long. I could have gone my whole life without having to suffer through this again.
My eye doc offices are closed until Monday. I called another one open on Sat desperate to be seen so I could get the medicated drops I got last time. Luckily after knowing I have a history of this and hearing my symptoms, they were willing to just call in the script and I can follow-up with my doc on Monday.
So I’m wallowing in my misery at the moment. I love sunshine but the light sensitivity is killing me. I could draw the blinds but I like seeing the sun. Not sure what we’ll do today. It’s time like these I wish I had prescription sunglasses. I think I’m going to get some when this is over.
My first crushes were probably in elementary or middle school and LOL no, definitely none of them worked out and I honestly have no idea what those people are doing nowadays.
However I did develop a big crush on a guy I worked with at my very first job at 16 at a mini-putt place. A few years later when in college, we started dating and now we are married! That's how I met my H. I have known him since 2002.
Sometimes. If I’m going to be in the car for awhile, I’ll listen to playlists through my phone. But if I’m running quick errands or something, I’ll just turn on the radio.

Love Chicago! Grew up near there and have been countless times. I agree that Sept would be a lovely time to go.
Lots of great food - we enjoyed our dinner at Girl and the Goat as well as Frontera Grill. The art museum is cool if that interests you, and I also really enjoyed the Museum of Science and Industry.
On a nice day, I like just walking along the lakeshore and people watching. I’ve heard awesome things about the architectural boat tours though I haven’t done one yet.

It feels so much like spring today. 60s and sunny today, 70s tomorrow and Tues but also severe storms. We’re cleaning out the garage today, doing some yard work, and taking a walk. I’m opening up some windows to air out the house.
I passed out on the couch at like 9 last night and slept soundly until 12:30 when H woke me up to come up to bed. Well then I was WIDE AWAKE and could not go back to sleep for 3 hours. I told him next time, just let me keep sleeping on the couch lol. I finally went back to sleep and slept way late for me, until 8:30 and now feel all out of sorts.
We are going to the Home Show today, and I feel boring and old because I'm excited about it. I love going to this every year. We always end up hiring/calling a company we didn't even think we needed to do something after. This year, we're looking for a tree trimmer.

I sometimes have issues with it stopping a story in the middle and then restarting it but audio only and it freezes. What I’ve found that fixes that issue for me is turning my WiFi off on my phone and then turning it back on.
