We do this for my ILs. We bought the house and for tax purposes we treat it as our own second home (requires us to spend time there annually, which we would have anyway when visiting them). They pay below-market “rent” into an account they control but we can view. We use that account for any house maintenance as well, but otherwise we view it as a safety net account for them (they don’t know that). So basically the whole mortgage comes out of pocket for us, but we benefit from appreciation on the house and the knowledge that we’ve limited our exposure to their financial mess to $1k a month.
I just walked everywhere. Outside in good weather, or around museums or the mall.
Are there baby friendly movies where you are? They turn the sound down slightly and keep the lights a bit higher and baby noises are expected. Those were the best.
Check out the customs rules too. There are significant rules for bringing alcohol into the US, and I’m guessing that may be true in other directions as well.
Seems to me like A isn't considering the costs to X that occurred while mom was alive... X was providing land to mom free of charge while she was living right? And possibly taking care of mom as well. The math doesn't start at "she could charge rent for it!"
Could you get to know the daycare teachers and see if one of them would be interested in after hours care (maybe bringing the kid to your home)? I hear about people doing that.
When I travel, DH just has to do pickup and dropoff, but we have an 11 hour daycare window.
Just wanted to second the recommendation that if you want to pursue this further, you should do it with an allergist vs a dermatologist. I’ve had chronic hives for 7 years now and even though they are obviously in the skin, dermatologists have no idea what they are doing with them in my experience.
I had an ECV. It didn’t work but it also wasn’t bad, and I’m glad I tried it. Overall they have about a 50% success rate and very low risks. Best factors for success: you’re not a First time mom, you have good fluid levels, baby has been in other positions earlier in the pregnancy, and (most importantly) doctor is experienced with versions. If those things are true, personally I think it’s worth a shot.
I also tried the Webster certified chiropractor, the spinning babies stuff, and handstands in a pool (what a sight at 37w!)
All that said...my scheduled c was incredibly easy and civilized. Would absolutely do it again.
My daycare worked with her on a sippy cup from like 10 months to a year. Now we just send a single carton of milk and a sippy cup on Monday. So much easier than measuring, labeling, and transporting everything!!
I'm in sales for a company that does X. Because they won't have heard of the company itself, but should be familiar with the X once I explain it a bit.
I'm not familiar with this brand, but I'd shy away from embedded power. It seems cool, but in reality that's going to add weight and cost and make things less convenient. Just get yourself an Anker USB backup battery and call it a day. That way you can use it on a plane without having to pull your whole bag down, hand it over to a colleague, etc.
I imagine more using the battery on the go like in an uber or in the airport, usually the plane would have a USB port at my seat for use.
Their website says since the battery is removable its OK for carry on but you only have to take it out if you check your luggage. I typically wouldn't check my luggage so I am thinking it wouldn't be an issue but maybe I am overlooking something?
What you are overlooking is this: In an uber, your bag is in the trunk and therefore you don't have easy access to use it. In a plane, it's in the overhead.
Contrast that with the Anker handheld I am recommending. It's in your purse or wherever you keep your laptop - so it's conveniently located. And as the battery dies (and these backup batteries weaken over time just like your cell phone or laptop battery) - you can just replace it with another one. If it's part of your bag, you are stuck with it.

Unless your actual destination is far from DC itself, DCA. The other airports are terrible and difficult/expensive to access.
I will pay $100 more to fly out of DCA and basically break even because of how much it costs to get to the other airports in any reasonable time frame.
Ditto. I regularly connect in other airports (rather than taking direct flights out of IAD) because DCA is that much more convenient to the city.
Is there some kind of backup care that would allow you to work in situations like this in the future? I agree with keeping her home, but 3 days is rough. We have a backup service that sends a nanny to the house if she's too sick to go to school but I still need to work. Not the most MM thing, but there is peace in knowing there's a plan that doesn't mean I have to balance the need to not get other kids exposed against my need to work.
Your daycare offers this service? Or your work?
Neither of mine provides such a thing.
Neither - it's an independent service I pay for directly so that I can send a last minute SOS that I need care and they will get someone to my house within hours of that request.
I think my husband's work also offers a service like this through Bright Horizons, but we haven't used that one.

Don’t just try pb once and check it off. Research is starting to suggest that the best thing you can do is regularly expose to all the top allergens (wheat, eggs, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, dairy) regularly starting as early as 4-6 months. These may be a preventative effect. Because she’s high risk given my history, we try to hit things like peanut and tree nut weekly.
I'm really looking forward to Girls Just Wanna Have Pod (but I'm not a fan of the name). I think Erin Ryan is hilarious. I wish it would come out already.
Is Broads Save America really not getting traction? That's so much better.
I wouldn't lie and I wouldn't actively make a report.
The clearance checks I have been involved with seem to be less about figuring out whether you've done bad stuff in the past and more about figuring out whether you have secrets that could be held over your head. So if you did bad stuff before and own it, it probably won't hurt you. Asking people to lie about it...is doing it wrong.
Task Name and Additional sorting data A-D - Difficulty Rating - Frequency Rating - Importance Rating - Rater Name You're essentially stacking the spreadsheet each person returned and adding an additional column at the end that tells you which person gave that rating.
Not sure how you will pivot the ratings though (if those are numeric so you'd report a mean or what).
Did I read or hear something in the last month or so that said an airport, or a couple of airports, were going to allow non-ticketed passengers past security? Am I making shit up again?
Pittsburgh. But it's because that airport makes much more sense as a mall vs. an airport.
I miss flights intentionally fairly regularly (strategic hidden city ticketing where you get on the first flight but miss the second and your destination is the connecting city). I'm not on any watch lists that I am aware of.
Yea California does this. It’s called prop 13. Not aimed specifically at POC but it basically locks property taxes at the rate they were when the property first entered a family.
On Tuesday, Uber revealed in a statement from newly installed CEO Dara Khosrowshahi that hackers stole a trover of personal data from the company's network in October 2016, including the names and driver's license information of 600,000 drivers, and worse, the names, email addresses, and phone numbers of 57 million Uber users.
As bad as that data debacle sounds, Uber's response may end up doing the most damage to the company's relationship with users, and perhaps even exposed it to criminal charges against executives, according to those who have followed the company's ongoing FTC woes. According to Bloomberg, which originally broke the news of the breach, Uber paid a $100,000 ransom to its hackers to keep the breach quiet and delete the data they'd stolen. It then failed to disclose the attack to the public—potentially violating breach disclosure laws in many of the states where its users reside—and also kept the data theft secret from the FTC.
Did the teacher give any examples? As I'm sure you know, the line between leadership and bossiness for women and girls can be...thin. I would want way more detail and then to action that detail specifically.
Can I hijack? I see AmyRI mentioned the Webster technique - anyone else have experience? I just sent off a request to a local chiro to see if they can get me in this week for it. I'll be 37 weeks. I'm having a hard time telling for sure if she's breech (mentioned earlier my u/s is on Wed) but I almost feel like she's transverse because I tend to feel things more on my sides than anything. I've been trying the ice pack thing and a couple easier positions from Spinning Babies (but I have no idea if I'm doing them right). I have been reading a bit about c-sections to prep myself and I'm honestly scared of the recovery because of how much my appendectomy recovery sucked (and that's a much easier surgery, plus I didn't have to take care of a newborn immediately after). So I'd REALLY like to not end up with a c-section if I can help it!
I saw a Webster Chiro from weeks maybe 33-39. Didn't work for me, but I get the sense it works for many. If nothing else, it helped a ton with hip pain I was having anyway
