Fun fact, domestic law currently states everyone can apply for asylum whether they enter legally or not. So unless he is indicating an interest in passing a law to amend it, then.... But of course he isn't going to do that. Because he fancies himself a dictator and this administration has made clear that the rule of law means nothing to them.
Also? I just read an article that said that they are also looking at refusing to let people in at ports of entry until there is "room" for them. So they are looking for a one-two punch to basically completely shut down asylum claims -- forbid it to people who enter illegally, and then refuse to let people in legally (because you know that they will simultaneously say there is no room for any additional aslyum seekers given the backlog in the courts and whatnot). Which is of course always been the endgame of the people like Stephen Miller behind the immigration policy of this administration.
I am appalled and disgusted.
I thought they were already not allowing folks in at ports of asylum several months back when the family separation came to light?
I have found with my kids that too much tv or screens led to them being generally cranky, crazy, not fun to be around. My kids (8 and 5) watch tv on weekends but rarely during the week. Tv is generally limited to 3 hours a weekend just because they either watch a movie or a bunch of shows but not usually both just because our weekends are busy. I don’t count itt though and some weekends are closer to zero and some are more.
They both have iPads which they can use when we drive to vacation (12 hours) or to visit family (3-4 hours). They don’t really use them otherwise.
They’re not on phones or computers at home, ever. DD is in third and I am starting to hear a lot of “everyone watches YouTube why can’t I” but, shrug, on our house it’s just not happening right now.
When we go out to dinner or whatever they’re not on phones.
This works for us and I don’t think too much screens is good for them. But I don’t care what anyone else does and I know when they’re at friends houses it’s probably a lot of screen time
Yowza! How are you doing? We were not actively trying for K and it was really hard to wrap my mind around the pregnancy and feel happy.
I’m so so conflicted. We always saw ourselves with 3 but had pretty much decided to stop at 2 for mental health reasons. My PPD/PPA was well managed with meds so maybe I’ll just start them right after delivery.
And childishly, worried about what our parents will think. But maybe that’s deflecting.
i'm sorry if this is overstepping, but, i had very bad ppa/ppd with my second and my therapist told me that if i had a third she would want me to go on meds in the third trimester. just throwing out in case that is something you'd want to discuss, depending on your decision.

my 8 year old has been asking if i'm santa off and on for a while. i just say "do i look like santa?" "would i have bought you all of that AG Doll stuff?" that seems to put an end to it but she is definitely suspicious. i will keep lying for as long as possible

This has also been very upsetting for me. I have been assaulted. I reported it and my assailant was ruled as innnicrnt by a college board. It was horrible. I have felt like it was my fault.
Honestly I don’t give a shit about Bryce winning. It would be nice for flipping the House, but there are much more winnable districts with better candidates. He’s not smart, he’s sexist, and he has a shady history with back child support and the timing of a debt payoff. The fact that so many people jumped behind him because of one ad and completely ignored a very qualified woman is disheartening. If he debates Steil, he’s going to bomb. My prediction is that districts with enter candidates - particularly women and minorities - will flip blue and WI-01 will stay red. I know for me, without Myers on the ballot, I won’t donate or volunteer. I’ll save my energy for governor and senate and my dollars for out of state races that are more flippable.
But he has a catchy twitter handle name! (and not even being sarcastic, that is one of the reasons people got to excited about him). Why do you say he is sexist? (not arguing, I really don't care for the guy, I just want to rage a bit more).
I have a lot of thoughts about PSA's discussion on super PAC money in yesterday's pod and how they are greatly overestimating how much voters, particularly in state and local elections, care about that topic.
I am starting to feel like the CM guys are becoming what they have tried not to become....insiders who are kind of out of touch with what voters think and they are relying way too much on the opinions of people who are active on social media.
This is the super left’s new purity test but to me it’s such a misguided test. The real thing that needs to be changed is the scotus decision on citizens united and refusing to vote for candidates that would appoint liberal judges seems reall framing atuoid to me
Sounds like the mccaskill seat will be tough to hold onto in November. Hope she can hold on
I’m a little worried too. I’d put that in the top 3 vulnerable Senate seats for sure. She really could use all the help she can get - she’s another one who gets a lot of flack from the left.
I know she does. This false equivalency narrative between dems and gop blows.
It is, but even if Balderson wins, this should be a giant wake-up call to the GOP. This election shouldn't even be a significant news story tonight. It should be an "oh, by the way, the GOP won this GOP district again" blurb in the last 5 minutes of the newscast. If it's seriously that close, in such a grossly gerrymandered district, for a special election in the middle of August, November elections should scare the shit out of the GOP.
MI-Gov primary already called for Whitmer by some reporters.
I believe it. Al-sayed’s campaign manager, a bro, just tweeted equating Andrew Cuomo to trump. I take that to mean she knows it’s not good for al-sayed
@realdonaldtrump: Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which isn’t easy to do. I like Mike!
I guess this means trump was watching cnn. At the end of tre interview don lemon asked Lebron what he’d say to trump if he was sitting across from him. Lebron said I wouldn’t sit across from him but I’d sit across from Obama. Must’ve pushed trump off
In an email to Poynter, Sonya Gavankar, director of public relations for the Newseum, said the merch is an example of how the museum tries to foster an environment that encourages free speech.
I mean at this point the Democratic choices are Bernie and Biden. Biden is the obvious winner there. Hopefully better candidates get in the race because I don’t think Biden is the best we can do, but it’s no contest.
In other news I think my hatred of Bernie has reached new heights after reading this thread.
My parents are hardcore Berners and it is such a challenge to get past since my dad voted third party in 2016
I doubt it. Jealous only had major competition from Baker who was not very liked in PG county and definitely couldn’t get support outside of PG. Jealous had more name recognition outside of PG and campaigned heavily across MD. I didn’t see much of the Jealous/Bernie ties in the election press moreso because I followed his path a bit. Def wasn’t him main selling point. At this point a defeat of Hogan is a greater pull than worrying about the shouter.
I think between jealous and the race in NY it will embolden the dem infighting. We’ll see. I voted madelano in the primary but will vote jealous in the general for sure
