I'm so excited for the debate tonight! I'm such a political junkie. My friend and I are going to get pizza and wine. This negates my healthy eating plan but whatever. Flameful. I've been rewatching old Kardashian episodes while working today.
This is random, but I was taking buzzfeed quiz about random singers in the 2000s. I don't remember one named Amerie, but this Amerie girl and Kourtney K. look similar. Google for some pointless entertainment...one of the google searches was for Amerie and Kourtney together, lol.
My sinuses are hurting so badly. The weather shifted overnight and my sinuses can't deal. The pressure sucks. On my lunch I might have to go buy some otc meds.
I kind of want to cut more hair off...maybe 2-3 more inches. If I do that, I would have cut off 15 inches of hair this year!

For a good profile the author of the book* says:
-Know what type of audience you want to attract and make a targeted profile for that audience.
-Use key messages throughout the profile for a theme. If you think you're intelligent, be intelligent in your profile. Same for funny, sweet, etc. Don't specifically use those terms, but show the reader through the profile what your key messages are.
-Marketing uses the power of 3. Talk about 3 interests, 3 favorite movies, etc. You don't have to list them in order, but whatever you work in, marketing has shown that people gravitate and remember groups of 3s the best.
-Use a short first sentence.
-Avoid listing weak adjectives (funny, smart, kind, etc.) Be specific. You can put that you love Italian food, but you'll stand out more if you say you love a good Fettuccine Alfredo. The more specific, the more memorable you will be.
-Keep your profile in the present. No need for backstory on it.
-Don't over-elaborate on topics. You want to get emails with questions, so leave room for people to ask by giving them just enough.
-Be confident. Avoid "My friends say I'm...." Don't be cocky, but you don't need to justify your personality by saying what your friends think. Exude who you are and it will show.
-Spellcheck, spellcheck, spellcheck.
-Make sure your last line leaves a good impression of you. Don't say, "Message me for more info or if you have questions!" Make an impression!
-Avoid words like don't, never, not, unfortunately, etc. Keep it positive.

ETA: This is for picking a username.
I'm going to cheat and tell you what the book I'm reading about online dating says to do in your user name.
1. Combine interests. Make up your own word if you want to combine interests. 2. Avoid any words that can misconstrued as a sexual term. 3. Avoid numbers. 4. Don't use your real name. (This one is a little strange to me, but perhaps Tinder has desensitized me to this. I think the book I'm reading was written pre-Tinder popularity.)
It's a regular day off for me today. My niece sent me a Flat Stanley cutout I have to take to my "favorite places in my city" and photograph myself with it. I just did this for my nephew 2 weeks ago (they are in different classes with different teachers). I guess I'll go out and about today to get some pictures with Flat Stanley. I'll have to take him to some exciting places...well, exciting for 3rd graders, lol.
but I'd love to hear of reasonably-priced gifts you've gotten in the past that you really enjoyed. I'm trying to get a jump on Xmas this year and do my shopping early, but I am drawing a blank on what to get some people.
I am reading a book about an online dating service developed by the owner to help people maximize their chance of finding love online. The author showed examples of how she "improved" a few profiles of men and I cringed at a of the few profiles, as they were pretty cheesy after she got a hold of them.
Last night I stopped by Ulta to get a few things for a thank-you gift and they didn't have anything I needed. One was discontinued (Goodbye Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Blackberry...you were the perfect red for fall) so that wasn't their fault, but the other two were out-of-stock. I feel like Ulta stores never consistently have stuff in stock and it gets annoying. I walked next door to Target to get one of the items I needed and they had plenty of them in stock.
It takes time. I was blindsided when I found out my exH was cheating and subsequently divorced. Counseling was my greatest help, as I was my own worst enemy to healing.
I really never pictured my life in too much detail at my current age (30), which I think was part of my problem. I had no real goals I was aiming for in life. Now I do and I feel so behind everyone else. There's so much I want to do/see/own, but financially I'm at least a decade behind where I should be.
My new life goal is to be more productive and utilize my time better. Last night I accomplished all my house chores, did yoga, and started to learn the piano. I woke up today and did a morning stretch video. I feel so good today!
I deleted tinder yesterday, too. I really want to focus on me for the rest of the year and I'm actually really excited about it.
I'm back from my trip. It was gorgeous and nice to get away. There were NO single guys on the entire cruise ship (seriously), but my roommate and I made the most of it and talked a lot about what we want out of our futures, men or no men in our lives. We did miss our day in Turks and Caicos due to Hurricane Joaquin, which was disappointing, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.
I have so much laundry to do. I bought some cider to help me get through all the boring house errands I have to do tonight, lol.
Coffee Meets Bagel was a dud for me. I wouldn't have matches for weeks. Tinder is probably the best app in my area for dating. OKCupid was a hot mess...most of my most horrific first messages came from that website. I like apps where they can't contact me unless we've mutually swiped/liked one another.
I think the biggest question to ask oneself before jumping into online dating is how sensitive you are to rejection? People can possibly say mean things (unwarranted most of the time), ghost others, lie, etc. If that type of behavior won't crush your soul, you're good.

I had a completely terrible Saturday night, so I have been sluggish this morning. I am going to convince myself to go for a walk later...the weather is too gorgeous to not go outside.
I might go to Red Box and get a movie for tonight. I don't feel like doing much.

I really admire how you work to maintain a positive outlook abcdefu. It's so inspiring!
Today is the first day of real fall weather. Fall weather sometimes triggers my ptsd, so I'm really working to establish positive connections to the weather change. Tonight I am attending a huge dinner event through work and it is outside, so hopefully it will create some good memories for me.

Last night I had some sort of emotional meltdown and cried my eyes out for a bit. I have a bit of an emotional hangover today, but hopefully I can rally myself to get up and at 'em. I desperately need to do some cleaning in my apartment.

I normally wear gold jewelry with brown, but I think any jewel-toned color would be pretty in jewelry, too, with that dress especially a deep orange or burgundy.

I feel so awful for that little girl. I would feel so heartbroken if I read this as a teen/adult about myself and my mother. She sounds money-hungry and her reasoning for the "damages" makes her seem so racist and bigoted.

I am LAZY today. I am trying to convince myself to get moving. I probably won't make it to the mall, but I at least want to go to Ulta! Maybe I'll bribe myself with RedBox and ice cream...

I have severely oily skin and I am so sick of looking shiny. I get shiny from simply sitting at my desk. I touch up with powder throughout the day, but again, it doesn't seem to matter. I've tried a few primers with no luck...it's like I didn't even put on a primer.
Any suggestions? I'm willing to spend extra $$$ for a product that really delivers.

I just ate leftover pizza for breakfast. Now I'm lounging, but later I am going to the gym and am debating going to the local mall to see if I can find some good pieces for my trip since most stores are having big sales.
Last night I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and went to a birthday where I only knew the birthday girl. While I'm proud I went, it wasn't great. I was sat by a couple where the wife talked about MONEY, MONEY, MONEY. They spent $20,000 on a cruise! A certain Caribbean county is the worst so they upped and flew to a better country! They have a huge house on a gazillion acres! And so on. Travel came up and I told another guest I was going on a trip soon. She told me she contracted a parasite at one of the places I'm going and she talked about it for at least 20 minutes.
I have a flameful: I really like Justin Bieber's new song.
My fridge at work is broken and all my meals planned for this week are cold. I need to buy an ice pack for my lunchbox today since I don't have one. I guess I'm going to go buy one at lunch and pick up lunch.
