1. Positives from your week? Doing well and just taking it day by day.
2. Negatives from your week? Fast numbers are still high....boo.
3. Any recipes/food ideas you want to share? (I'll put this question in each check-in, as I'm sure a lot of us are always looking for new ideas). None.
4. Anything fun planned for your weekend? We will celebrate DH's birthday on Friday and then he flies out to India for a week on Saturday.
I've been measuring about a week ahead. My DR and MW are not concerned at all as I have a small torso. I did get an u/s to check weight and he is measuring about a week ahead and is on track to be the same size as DD was at 39 weeks.
1. I have a 2.5 year old DD and now we are expecting a boy next month. With DD I had GD. With this pregnancy (since I had GD with DD) they wanted me to test early (24 weeks);took my 1hr GTT and failed then took my 3hr GTT and passed !!! The sad part is that they still wanted me to take the 3hr again in a month... so I did, and failed . And the reason that I am the most crushed about is because I won't get to go into labor on my own (most likely). ::sigh::
2. Um, GD related? I can eat a 12 piece (grilled) chicken nugget meal with french fries from Chickfila and be in range!
3. My fasting numbers suck so I'm sure I'll be put on glyburide again to control those numbers.
4. No but I read that dark chocolate and cinnamon are good for helping control bs so I try to add a bit of them to fruit or yogurt or whatever.
I got the impression I will not get another from my ob unless there is a complication. Has that been anyone else's experience?
Yep, that seems like standard practice. If there are any issues your OB/MW will order and u/s after the anatomy scan. Mine had me get one last week bc my BP has been elevated so she wanted to do a quick weight check.
I would definitely get an elective u/s if you want one!
Yes, DH went with me. At the first appt at my practice they go over everything about their policies and procedures and give a lot of information that is very useful for both the mom and dad. There is also a dating u/s done so I didn't want him to miss that.
With DD we didn't wait and we just called our family at about 6 weeks.
With this pregnancy we waited until our 8 week appointment and then texted our family with a pic of DD in a 'big sister' shirt holding the first ultrasound picture. (All our family is OOT)
I agree that there aren't that many cute boy clothes, at least not as much as girl stuff for sure. But I have been surprised at how many cute stuff there actually is. Right now I have found a ton of cute stuff at Target and Old Navy.
When I see people (now that most of my immediate world knows that I am pregnant), they ask "How are you feeling?" Instead of the normal "How are you doing?" I know it is a weird semantic, but it drives me nuts. I guess because my answer is always fine (legitimately, this has been pretty easy so far. *knocks on wood*) I pointed it out to my H a couple of weeks ago, and he was like "no, people still ask how you're doing."
Last night, after running into a neighbor, he looked at me, and said "You know, you're right, everyone does ask you how you're feeling, that's kind of weird." I know it is small and petty, but it drives me a little crazy. Am I the only one?
Feel free to add your own random frustrations!
I hate this question! I usually just say fine bc it's true but what do people want me to say? How I can't sleep and my feet hurts all the time and my back hurts all the time and my boobs hurt all the time...etc etc...?? I know they are asking just to be nice but I think they could find a better way to be nice.
I think the grandparents get to decide what they want to be called. That being said, I do think it's weird that they wrote in the book like you described.
We stayed in the Trevi Fountain area and loved our hotel! It was within walking distance of all the attractions around there and was also about a block from the metro. We stayed at Hotel Fellini and I recommend it!
Not to be a kill-joy, but for me the ON full-panel skinnies are not working well in my third tri. The panel isn't as long as some of my other pairs and the top seam digs into belly now.
YES! My ON skinnies do this to me as well!! I thought it was just me and even bought a pair one size smaller and still.
Also hillarywhitney make sure you keep a detailed food journal. It will help you to figure out what foods help to lower your sugars and which foods you should avoid.
First off, hugs to you! It is hard to hear that diagnosis... I had it with DD. Know that it is nothing that you did or didn't do, so don't feel guilty, blame it on that darn placenta! =P
1. I don't remember exactly what I ate day to day sorry! But I do know it was a challenge and took a lot of planning. 2. Apple with peanut butter was delish. 3. I remember eating a couple of hershey kisses to try and satisfy the sweet tooth. 4. It is definitely normal to fluctuate at first. Plus it will take time to figure out what exact snacks before bed will help with your morning numbers. I actually had to start taking glyburide towards the end of my pregnancy to help with my morning numbers.
A good resource that I found when I was researching about GD this pregnancy was this babycenter group. There is a lot of great tips on there that I wish I had found during my first pregnancy!
Can I ask how they measured you? I have done a lot of reading (Ina May Gaskin, Penny Simkin, etc), and they all say that the actual event of 'small pelvis' is actually quite rare, and how your pelvis looks now is no indication as to how far/well it will stretch to accomodate your baby's exit during actual labor.
Are they willing to let you go into labor on your own and trial labor/delivery/pushing? Because getting a c/s solely based on a predicted 'small pelvis' is bad medicine IMO. Let me see if I can find some information for you.
I wish you all the best!!
Ditto all of this. But you should ultimately do what you are more comfortable with.
DD's pregnancy was super easy; no sickness ,no extreme fatigue, no real symptoms at all. Overall great pregnancy. This pregnany is exactly the same and it's a boy.
I knew it was going to be a fluff episode and it totally was. No real plot development. I did like the costumes but that is about it. Next episode looks to be interesting though!
