Oh, and just as clarification the marks are all things like: off task, skipping on the way back from lunch, touching the wall on the way to lunch, and my personal favorite “holding a pencil while the teacher was speaking (should have been laid on his desk).”
First, I'm so sorry for everything your family is dealing with right now.
Second, the above is ridiculous expect the off task, but even that is understandable. If this is the only list of examples, I would be very unhappy with the teacher. Is it possible to switch teachers?
My ds has the plastic invsalign looking retainer. He broke one at about 6 months post braces. It was about $150 to replace. The second one he has had for about 1.5 years. He only wears it at night now after the first few months.
This is what my DS has as well. The ortho practice he went to (and my younger DS is currently going to) doesn't use the metal ones.
I've been surprised by how hard it is to get community service hours. DS is young for his grade (late summer birthday), and the vast majority of the volunteer opportunities that are left (many disappeared with COVID) require kids to be 16- if not older. And he will be 15 all year. Maybe similar issues are inspiring all the "kid created" non-profits?
It sounds like he will be able to cram a bunch of hours this summer, and it sounds like the MS would love to have him for tutoring later in the year. But it's definitely a different climate now than pre-pandemic.
Same here! My son is a junior and 15. I'm having the hardest time finding things that don't require him to be 16. And even a lot of the ones at 16 require a parent to be with them. I'm not opposed to volunteering but come on.
I'm glad for this thread because college is already freaking me out. My son goes to a trade school and recently decided he wants to go to college. His grades are great (mostly all As, in honor classes), but he has zero extracurricular activities. I'm hoping he gets into the National Honor Society so he has something to be on an application otherwise I worry he isn't going to get in anywhere. I told him to find some clubs to join, but he really doesn't enjoy the kids at his school in general so he's not thrilled about it.
I found out my grandmother died on Facebook. It was 4 days after she died and everyone already made arrangements to come to our state for her funeral. I'm still slightly bitter that no one told me until 4 days after she died (I did end up getting a text from a cousin about 2 hours after I saw the FB post).
Do you drink a lot of caffeine? Caffeine makes me feel like I'm going to vomit if I drink it on an empty stomach or even at other times as well. It also gives me diarrhea. Since you said you can't seem to pinpoint a certain food, it might be something to look into.
We just stayed at the Residence Inn Back Bay/Fenway and it’s a great hotel. We loved it. Free breakfast every day, pool, rooftop bar, walkable to some good restaurants. I did see the parking was like $55 a day though 😳

My boys and I are flying into Boston from CA, and I've decided to spend a couple of days around the city before heading home. I don't really want to drive in Boston (I will have my car), so I'm looking for a hotel with parking, near a T station. We are looking to do the Freedom Trail, science museum, maybe Quincy market.
Any recs? Bonus points if it has a pool.
Also I completely suck at navigating subways. Is the T difficult to understand where you are going?
Has anyone flown first class/business class lately? I'm getting a good bonus this year and planning on taking my kids to CA (from CT). I was thinking as a treat to fly first class to be more comfortable but can't decide if the price is worth it. I found some reasonable prices but they were on flights with a stop, which kind of made me thing maybe the first class was only on one leg? IDK I don't fly enough to know about this.
Yes I did in July and am again in a couple of weeks. Not all planes have both first and business class. And on really small planes/short flights it probably wouldn’t be worth it. But if you’re paying for an upgraded class yes it’s for all legs of that flight. Depending on the flight the seats might lay completely flat and you might have hour own little pod, but other flights it’s "regular" seats with more leg room and then obviously more personalized service but not a separate pod/lay flat bed.
Thanks! The prices for the flights with stops was so much cheaper that's why I was questioning it. I think I'm going to go for it.

Depending on where you are going in CA and if you plan to fly from NY vs Hartford I would go for the mint seats on JetBlue. I LOVE them, full lay down seats and I think worth the price. NY to LAX and SFO has the mint option and it is direct.
Thanks!
Flying into LAX, debating BDL vs JFK. The only direct flight from BDL is JetBlue but it looks like Mint isn't available on that flight. So probably looking at JFK. The most I've done is the Even More Space seats on JetBlue lol.

And filter by kudos. You will get all of the most popular fics that way. Some are CRAZY long, like over a million words and others are short stories. Read some and get to know the authors you like.
If you aren't interested in draco x Hermione then you could just click on the HP fandom tag and search kudos through there.
Have you read This Too Is Sacred? I really enjoyed it.
I only read Hermione based fics so I've read a TON of Hermione/Draco.
I’ve recently become addicted to watching pimple popping and blackhead extraction videos on Tic Tok. I always make sure my iPad is facing away from H and if he walks behind me I’ll quickly scroll to the next video. I have no idea why I’m hiding this from him and the fact that I am makes me giggle. His only reaction would be to turn up his nose and call me a weirdo.
What random shit do you hide for no good reason?
Same. But I watch on youtube 🤦♀️
And tbh. I've been watching for so long I don't even hide it that much anymore.
Mine is HP fanfiction.
I totally hide my HP fanfiction habit from my husband. Not only that, but that I used to write it too.

My DS got sent home from school today because he had a headache. They sent him with 2 rapid tests, and lo and behold, he has covid. He seems to have no symptoms so far (besides the headache but no fever). We've managed to avoid covid this whole time but I guess Omicron is just too much. Luckily Monday is a holiday so he won't miss too much school. *sigh*

10 years, wow!
I finally bought a bidet which I had been wanting for a while. I did not think it through and just bought one that is built into the toilet seat. It was a bit pricey, and I'm wishing I got something cheaper because I don't think I like it. We have a well and live in CT, and the water is COLD. I didn't think I would mind it, but yeah should have gone with one that has warm water. It doesn't seem to work as well as I was expecting although I'm guessing it's because I can only take the cold for about 10 seconds lol.
I really need to stop clicking on recommendation threads. Last week I spent almost $150 on nail stuff, and this week I really want to buy this vacuum even though I already own 2 dysons.
Do you have the extra mop attachment? Do you like it?
I actually did the 0% financing through Samsung so that didn’t hurt as much. Oh and I think ebates/Rakuten was 10% back too. Yes I have the mop and really like it. I have the stand with everything in our living area (open concept, so right next to end of kitchen counter) and I find myself using everything so much more than I did with my dyson because I kept it in the mudroom. The mop part doesn’t have water but I found a target product I spray down as I go and the combination of that and the wet mop heads can clean my kitchen, dining and living rooms without needing to re-wet the mop head.
The battery lasts a lot longer and you can get an extra to switch out if needed (2 spots to charge it on), it has an extra mop attachment you can buy and a stand that holds it the vacuum and accessories.

I really like the Olive & June Poppy to help paint your dominant hand.
I've never been able to paint my own nails until this summer, when I learned using the Poppy and watching the O&J videos. I almost never don't have polish on now!
I just bought this and a mani kit thanks to you! Can't wait to try it as I'm awful painting with my left hand.

There was a point where I honestly thought DS2 would never learn to read. He had to repeat K,and it was honestly just a nightmare. Now, he's one of the top readers in his class and reading at an 8th grade level (he's in 5th grade, age 11).
Some kids just take a little longer, and with K being virtual or hybrid, there is probably some catching up to do. He'll get there, and it sounds more like he does know how to read, he just doesn't really enjoy it? IDK maybe I'm reading that wrong.
Our local health department is doing a clinic on the 13th at one of our schools, so I signed up my youngest (11), woohoo! I'm going to call my pedi to see if he is giving the vaccine, but I don't think he is.
Because I can't remember, is Ellie able to IP ban?
Both Ellie and I can IP ban. What she can do that I can't (likely due to my personal incompetence) is ban on a single board while allowing that user to access other boards (like we have done for some posters on CEP)
Got it, I thought when you said board ban, you meant ban the board itself. I think I need a nap lol.
