26 months because we needed the crib for kid #2. The anticipation was way worse than the actual process, IMO. We played up the "big girl bed" element and let her pick out sheets and a duvet. She seems so much more comfortable now in a twin bed than the last few months in her crib.
I was chatting with my cousin and his wife at a family gathering last night (they have kids the same age as ours - almost 2.5 and newborn). Somehow it was revealed that they have never heard of either Daniel Tiger or Happiest Baby on the Block / the 5 S's.
OMG, how do parents survive without these things?!?
Getting pregnant - 10 (successful on first cycle both times) Being pregnant - 9 (no morning sickness and minor symptoms) Delivery - 9 (even though I had two c/s, my recovery was very easy) PP recovery - 7 (struggling with pp body image and weight loss was the hardest) BF - 9 (BFing was easy and painless, just a bit of oversupply with DS this time)
DS rolled from tummy to back on his playmat this morning. It's fun to see him becoming an active baby instead of a sleepy newborn, but I'm also a little sad that we are breezing through the milestones so quickly. Slow down little boy!
Yes, for DD. Dressing DS is a chore though because boy clothes are ugly and boring.
I am already unimpressed with boy clothes and DS is only 6 weeks old. Everything is stripes or animals. Snooze.
I love buying clothes for DD. I don't purchase the most expensive stuff (most of her clothes are just from Old Navy, Carters, or Target), but she always looks cute and has a great wardrobe as a whole.
Why are boxed brownies so much better than ones from scratch? I made some this morning for my BF group and they're way better than the scratch ones I made a few weeks ago. And they were less than $2 for the box and took less than 5 minutes to throw together.
I know! I once spent a whole afternoon making these crazy complicated Ina Garten brownies from scratch and they were all cakey and barely sweet. But throw some oil and an egg into some Duncan Hines and it's perfect fudgey deliciousness every time.
Colds for everyone at our house. I need to get some groceries, but really don't feel like wrangling both kids in the store, so I'm trying the online shopping w/ drive-through pickup from the fancy grocery store (glitzy07). I "shopped" during DS's 4:00 am nursing session - multitasking!
Sometimes when I'm having a snack like chips or crackers, I use a coffee filter instead of a bowl.
#lazy
Wait, am I the only one who just eats them out of the bag or box? I never use a bowl, filter, or any other bowl substitute when eating chips or crackers.
I so wish I could do this, but I have zero self control when eating out of a package. I ate an entire box of Triscuits when I was pregnant, just mindlessly snacking out of the box...before I knew it they were all gone.
My RCS was scheduled for 39w3d. My OB was fine with anything after 39 weeks and I preferred not to wait too long and chance going into labor.
Although there's no way of knowing beforehand, I was thankful that I had a RCS after seeing the size of DS's head, which was off the charts huge and almost forced my doctor to cut my previous c/s incision larger in order to get him out.
DD got a haircut today and I had them cut bangs, which I am already regretting. They are a little too short and blunt and look almost rockabilly. Ugh, it's going to take forever to grow them out again - what was I thinking?!?
DS was born 6 weeks ago via RCS and honestly, recovery was a breeze, even with my active 2yo DD around. We just had to remind her that I had an owie on my tummy, so she wouldn't jump and climb on me, but by 3 weeks pp I was lifting her like normal. It definitely helped that she was no longer in a crib and had just turned ff in the car.
It's also been helpful to have a few new toys (puzzles, M&D water wow) that she only gets to play with while I'm nursing. Asking her to help with simple baby-related tasks like bringing me pacifiers/burp cloths, or entertaining the baby on his playmat has helped her feel involved.
Good luck (and boo on the second breech baby - DD was breech and I was convinced DS was too)!
You can't go wrong with ATK recipes like the one token just posted. I made another version last week and it was great, too (you could easily transfer to the crockpot if you want).
Boo. DD has a cold and it's raining. It's going to be a long day stuck inside trying to keep her from sharing germs with the baby. I'm going to have to pull out the messy activities (shaving cream fingerpainting in the bathtub) to kill some time.
6 weeks in and I'm so glad we decided to get a double. Maybe by the spring/summer DD can be trusted to walk next to the stroller on her own without running off, but it's nice to have a way of transporting both kids. We got the City Select and are using it with an adaptor for DS's car seat, which will switch to an actual seat once he's able to sit up.
