Side note - the answer to this made me sad: Is it ok to cut the UPC off a gift to get the rebate? (Answer: only if the recipient is on MM. lol.)

My sister and I are doing this for each other. We both got good deals on gifts for the other on BF and there was also a $10 rebate for the items. We are sending each other the paperwork to return after we receive the gifts. We both like saving money and sharing our bargains. I would NEVER do this for somebody else.

It's totally fine between two people who you know are both cool with it. (My mom always does it with stuff for us. Except she keeps the rebates, lol.) In that post, the OP wasn't sure because she doesn't really know the recipient.
